00:00 >> Same question to Perry Jackson, what impressed you about him during the spring
00:03 ball in the last few days?
00:05 >> Yeah, post spring ball, you definitely see a glimpse of greatness there, and
00:10 that's our responsibility to bring it out of him.
00:11 So consistent play is what we're challenging from him, and
00:15 after two days he's been attacking that.
00:18 >> In the last few days,
00:19 what are some of the things that you really want to see this defense improve on?
00:22 >> Everything, yeah, we want to be a defense that's respected and feared.
00:29 And the only way we get there is what we do in the body of work every single day
00:32 out here.
00:33 So we had a lot of things we focus on and improve, and
00:37 a lot of things that we need to get better at.
00:40 >> What are some of those things,
00:41 in terms of situational awareness in the past defense, like 37 plus?
00:45 When you have a veteran group in the secondary in particular,
00:49 with a lot of juniors, a lot of seniors, fifth, sixth year guys,
00:51 just how do you attack and address situational awareness?
00:53 >> Yeah, we just gotta get better at what we're doing.
00:57 That was one of the coolest things about the continuity of the staff and
01:01 having the ability to focus on a self scout, is to see where we went wrong,
01:05 see where we went right, and fix the things where we went wrong.
01:08 So obviously, third down defense, past defense was something that we had to
01:13 address, and then really diving into those statistics, never assuming anything.
01:18 So when you focus on something and
01:20 you actually don't see a whole lot of balls going over the top,
01:25 it's not like you look at a statistic and then make determination from that.
01:30 We wanna always allow the evidence to drive the theory.
01:34 And so when we get in there and dive deep, something we can do a lot better is
01:38 the shallow and short game passing, and defense, and the way we attack,
01:44 the coverages we call, and the tackles we can make in space.
01:47 >> More aggression.
01:50 >> Just gonna improve at everything.
01:52 I would love to improve our aggression, absolutely.
01:54 >> What are your thoughts on the inside of the contact control?
01:59 >> Really fired up and excited to see them operate.
02:02 Thought we made some major strides in the spring as a whole.
02:07 And every day trying to get something, just one thing out of each of them.
02:14 So targeting what can each individual improve at and
02:20 then collectively grow as a group.
