00:07 Guys, Savannah and I are going on an anniversary trip.

00:21 - Guys, it's July 7th. - Four years?
00:23 - 2023.
00:25 We're gonna watch this video back in 20 years
00:27 and you're gonna look really old
00:29 'cause you're gonna be, in 20 years you're gonna be 50.
00:33 - I am gonna be 50 in 20 years, that's crazy.
00:36 - I'm only gonna be 46 and a half.
00:38 - Wow, that's so young.
00:39 - That is young.
00:40 And okay, so we just drove from Tennessee.
00:43 We just crossed the Alabama border
00:45 and we're about to go to Buc-ee's.
00:47 - I have heard so much about Buc-ee's
00:49 and I really wanna go there.
00:50 - Suppose it's like the biggest gas station in the world.
00:53 And we're pulling up to it right now, so here we go.
00:55 Guys, there's literally a line
00:57 to get into this gas station.
00:59 (sighs)
01:00 All right guys, we're filling up gas here in Alabama.
01:02 And again, haven't been to Alabama in a long time

01:13 - To fill up our escalator, it was about 200 bucks.
01:16 It was about $200 for a full tank.
01:18 Now we had a big tank,
01:20 but gas was never less than five bucks in California.

16:37 and that's what we will raise our kids
16:39 to hopefully believe.
16:40 Tangent here, getting way too long.
16:41 We believe that Jesus is like the only answer,
16:43 that Jesus is the only way to heaven,
16:45 'cause that's what the Bible says.
16:46 That's what Jesus said.
16:47 So if we didn't raise our kids to believe that,
16:51 then either we didn't believe it ourselves,
16:53 or we would be doing them the greatest disservice
16:56 that we could ever do as parents.
16:57 - Yeah.
16:58 - So because we love our kids so much and love you guys,
17:00 that's what we're gonna tell you that we believe.
17:02 - Yeah.
17:03 - So.
17:04 - Yeah.
17:05 - That was question number one.
17:06 All right.
17:07 Cancel culture.
17:09 Courtney, Kateway?
17:12 Katewa?
17:13 - Just like talk about it?
17:14 - Yeah, I don't know.
17:15 It was kinda like, I just screenshotted it, you know?
17:17 - Yeah, I think it's so awful.
17:17 - It's like, first thing that comes to your head,
17:19 just in general.
17:20 - I think as Christians too,
17:21 you should never just cancel someone.
17:22 You know, you're there to like,
17:25 if someone does something wrong,
17:26 I'm not gonna be like, hey, I don't like you, you're out.
17:28 I'm gonna go talk to them about it.
17:30 - Yeah. - You know?
17:31 - Yeah, it's just toxic.
17:32 It's just not okay.
17:33 - Yeah, I think that we all make mistakes.
17:35 Every single human on earth makes mistakes.
17:36 Obviously, there's gonna be people
17:37 who make recurring mistakes.
17:39 - Yeah. - And maybe certain people
17:40 you can distance yourself from.
17:41 - Yeah, totally.
17:42 - But as far as like, cancel culture.
17:44 - But to go out of your way to literally cancel someone
17:46 is like, so beyond me.
17:47 - Yeah.
17:48 - I just think it's so rude and sad.
17:49 - Yeah, yeah, what we have found
17:51 is that people who are canceling,
17:53 people who are constantly canceling others,
17:55 they had nothing good to do with their life.
17:57 And I find that in my own life.
17:58 If I have, you know, if there's ever moments in my life
18:00 where I see myself pointing the finger,
18:02 I'm like, whoa. - Yeah.
18:03 - I'm not doing enough good in my life.
18:04 - Yeah. - You know, if I start
18:05 like pointing at other people's flaws,
18:08 it's because I'm not doing good stuff.
18:09 And whenever I am like, satisfied doing good things
18:11 for others or good things for my family, my marriage,
18:13 whatever it is, - Yeah.
18:14 - I'm so much less likely to like, cancel.
18:17 - Just be nice to people.
18:18 - Be nice.
18:19 Opinions on divorce. - Oh.
18:21 - From Rachel Ramos.
18:23 I mean. - Yeah, that's tricky.
18:25 - I mean, both of our parents are divorced.
18:27 - Mm-hmm.
18:28 Yeah. - So.
18:29 - I mean, opinions. - Yeah.
18:32 - I think, this is maybe getting way too Christian
18:35 or Bible study, but again, it just goes back to like,
18:38 what our faith is, is that, you know,
18:40 and I think that even people who aren't of our faith
18:42 can agree that divorce isn't a good thing.
18:44 - Yeah. - You know,
18:44 I think that it's very situational.
18:47 - Yeah.
18:48 - I would never tell somebody who's like,
18:49 in an abusive marriage to like, - Totally.
18:51 - Like, not get out.
18:53 So I think surround yourself with a good community
18:56 and take care of yourself, protect yourself.
18:58 But I think in a perfect world,
19:00 you fall in love with somebody who loves you tremendously
19:04 and you guys work together and marriage is very hard.
19:07 But in a perfect world where there's no abuse,
19:10 there's no cheating or there's obviously sin and bad things.
19:15 I mean, our marriage is far from perfect.
19:17 But in a perfect world, you work things out.
19:19 You know?
19:20 But we live in an imperfect world
19:23 where there is cheating and abuse and--
19:25 - And we also haven't been married a crazy amount.
19:28 So I feel like we're still going through,
19:31 even though you're not supposed to be,
19:32 I feel like we're still in that kind of good phase where--
19:35 - Our perspective hasn't changed so much.
19:37 - It could change and we could have, you know.
19:38 - But words to my self who's been married 20 or 30 years
19:43 and maybe I don't feel the same way about my wife.
19:46 - Yeah.
19:47 - Please choose Savannah even in less than fortunate--
19:51 - Ditto.
19:52 - In less than loving circumstances.
19:54 Easier to say now.
19:56 Because we love each other.
19:58 - We do.
19:58 - How does your marriage change after kids?
20:02 - Well, that's interesting because we never had a marriage.
20:06 - Before kids.
20:07 - So I don't know.
20:09 I think I've talked about this one before actually though,
20:11 is like, I feel like we kind of got like a little bonus
20:13 there because I feel like a lot of fighting happens
20:17 after you start having kids and you're married
20:18 because you were just, you two for so long
20:20 and then something, someone else comes along
20:21 and you both have totally different opinions
20:23 on what to do, how to parent.
20:25 So you just start butting heads all the time.
20:26 - Yeah.
20:27 - So I feel like for us, we had,
20:29 we just had it a little bit easier
20:32 and we figured that out even before we got married.
20:35 We figured that out while we were dating, yeah.
20:37 So--
20:37 - It might be harder for us whenever we got kids.
20:40 - One of us probably wouldn't have been so in love
20:43 or gotten married if we had did things totally differently,
20:47 parenting wise.
20:48 - For sure.
20:49 - But we both saw pretty much eye to eye on a lot of things.
20:52 - Discipline's huge.
20:52 - And that just kind of helped.
20:54 We're like, okay, this is serious.
20:56 As silly as it sounds, how Savannah healthily disciplined
21:01 three-year-old Everly who was pretty energetic
21:04 and a lot of times, Savannah did a good job
21:09 and I was like, that is a very attractive thing.
21:12 I saw, I'm like, wow, that's something
21:14 that I'm very fortunate that I get to see you do
21:15 before we even get married
21:16 'cause you can fall in love with somebody
21:17 but have no idea how they're gonna parent.
21:19 - Yeah, so I feel like we kind of got--
21:20 - But I would say that 90 to 99% of our arguments,
21:23 fights, disagreements are--
21:25 - Kid-based, yeah.
21:25 - 99% for sure.
21:27 And every one of our friends who have kids as well.
21:30 So, I mean, I would argue that everything
21:33 changes after kids.
21:35 Hopefully for the better.
21:36 - I would say if you're not married yet,
21:40 I would start talking about kids and goals
21:43 and how you're gonna raise them,
21:45 those kind of things before you even get married
21:46 to just--
21:48 - Yeah, and again, I could still be in the wrong here
21:50 because I don't know a relationship
21:52 or a marriage before kids
21:53 but I do know that because our marriage
21:56 and every other marriage that we're in a community with,
21:59 the fights, the arguments, the disagreements
22:01 are kid-related.
22:02 Try to figure out as much as you can out
22:05 and get along as best you can before kids
22:07 because if you're bickering and fighting
22:08 and disagreeing and all that without kids,
22:11 it's like with kids,
22:12 it's just gonna be like fuel to the fire, you know?
22:15 Your parenting style, so it kind of goes a little back
22:19 but someone's kind of wondering our parenting style.
22:21 How would you describe our parenting style?
22:22 - We follow through with discipline.
22:24 (laughs)
22:25 - Yeah.
22:25 - I feel like we have really good listeners.
22:27 We have good kids.
22:28 So I don't know, I feel like we love them tremendously
22:31 and we're always telling them,
22:33 "We're so proud of you.
22:34 "We love you so much."
22:35 We're always telling them the good things
22:36 that they're always doing all day
22:37 but then when they don't do a good thing,
22:39 I'm not gonna be like, "Hey, you do that again."
22:41 And six times later, I'm still saying,
22:42 "Hey, if you do that again."
22:44 So we're just good at following through
22:47 with, "Hey, if you do that again, this is gonna happen."
22:49 And we actually follow through with it.
22:51 So I feel like that's big 'cause the kids trust you.
22:55 So if they know mom's not gonna follow through
22:57 with the punishment, it's not gonna keep doing it.
22:59 - Yeah.
23:00 And we both have our flaws.
23:01 We both have things, especially 'cause we say like,
23:04 "Man, I didn't do that."
23:05 - Well, kids are kids.
23:06 All kids do that.
23:07 - Yeah, kids are always into bad things.
23:08 - No matter how good of a kid you have,
23:09 they're still gonna do it.
23:10 - I feel like I, you guys might get tired of us saying it
23:12 but I feel like I always gotta say it
23:13 'cause otherwise people would have been mad at me.
23:14 But we're imperfect.
23:15 Our kids are imperfect.
23:16 But I do feel like disciplining your kids well
23:19 and lovingly.
23:20 It's not like we're just being mean.
23:23 - After the time out or after whatever discipline,
23:26 how do I say that?
23:27 Discipline.
23:28 - Disciplinary action.
23:29 - Yeah.
23:30 After whatever disciplinary action that happens,
23:34 we're always about talking them after very sweet
23:37 and calming and telling them, "I love you so much."
23:39 Giving hugs.
23:40 So it always ends well.
23:42 - Yeah, I would say just like a fine balance of love
23:46 and fun and enjoyment and also discipline.
23:51 And these are rules on how we're gonna behave.
23:55 Especially just having four kids,
23:56 we just can't have chaos.
23:57 - Yeah.
23:58 - You know?
23:59 But sometimes we do.
24:00 Sometimes it is just utter chaos and that's okay.
24:03 Okay, we're gonna wrap this up
24:04 because Posy is waiting for us to go and snuggle her
24:08 because we like to take special nights for all of our kids.
24:11 They all kinda have their own special moments
24:12 but tonight's Posy's.
24:13 Okay, well that's a wrap.
24:16 We are going on a family vacation tomorrow for seven days.
24:20 - I know, so we're gonna have to film some of it
24:21 because--
24:22 - We'll probably film a little bit of it.
24:23 - We're gonna have a lot of fun.
24:24 And then maybe the next video that we do
24:25 could be the girls' first day of school
24:27 because Posy is gonna go to school.
24:29 - It breaks my heart.
24:31 - He's so sad.
24:32 - It breaks my heart.
24:32 - But I homeschool.
24:34 I know, I get that question a lot.
24:35 Like, "Wait, you said they're going to school
24:36 "but you said you homeschool."
24:38 I homeschool but--
24:38 - It's cool.
24:39 - They go twice a week to school.
24:41 It's like a program where we do it like that.
24:44 - Okay, that's a wrap.
24:45 Okay guys, we'll see you next month.
24:48 Maybe sooner.
24:49 - Maybe sooner.
24:50 - Peace out.
24:51 - Peace out.
