00:00 I'm Lucinda Herbert for the Blackpool Gazette and these are your headlines for the North West.
00:04 People have been urged not to feed seagulls after they were spotted nicking chips off visitors along
00:11 Blackpool Prom. Blackpool Council have warned people about the winged terrors who have
00:16 photographed terrorising tourists for bits of their dinner. Well-meaning visitors often drop
00:22 food for the seagulls but they are now being advised against it. The council said that although
00:28 the birds are a part of seaside life, once the greedy gulls have a taste of your food they will
00:33 want more and start attacking. A teenager has been seriously hurt while riding an e-bike after he
00:40 collided with a car in Leyland. The 18-year-old man was taken to hospital with very serious injuries
00:47 after the incident on Dunkirk Lane early on Monday afternoon. The driver of the car,
00:53 a Nissan X-Trail, was unhurt. Police are asking any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to
01:00 contact 101 and quote log number 0640 of August the 7th. Firefighters were called out to a fire
01:12 in the main staircase of a block of flats in Lancaster. Fire engines from Hornby, Lancaster,
01:19 Morecambe and Bolton-le-Sands attended the fire inside a stairwell of a flat in Lancaster at 10.15
01:26 p.m on August the 5th. Some materials were allied but thankfully it hadn't spread to any of the
01:33 flats and nobody was injured. The wife of a Coronation Street star is backing a new
01:40 Tree of Life campaign in Burnley to help bereaved parents. Bryony, who is married to actor Sam
01:47 Aston who plays Chesney Brown, is helping the campaign after sharing her own experience of
01:52 miscarriage. The Friends of Serenity Baby Loss charity are hoping to have their Tree of Life
01:59 memorial in place at the Burnley General Teaching Hospital during Baby Loss Awareness Week and it
02:06 will serve as the focus point for the hospital's annual Wave of Light ceremony on Sunday, October
02:14 the 15th. A quick-thinking man suffered burns after he stopped a blazing chip pan from wrecking
02:22 his kitchen. The brave young man carried the still blazing chip pan into his backyard in Bryan Road
02:29 in Wigan when it caught fire. His quick-thinking actions saved a lot of potential damage in the
02:36 property although the Fire Brigade said they would always recommend that householders vacate the
02:42 property immediately and leave the fire for them to deal with. A fine forecast for the rest of the
02:50 week with sunshine and some patchy cloud temperatures somewhere between 18 and 22 degrees.
