00:00 The National Security Council is adamant that the Philippines did not promise to remove the
00:05 BRP Shera Madre from Ayungin Shoal.
00:09 It is said that China is just imagining what it is doing.
00:12 And that is what Marise O'Malley is pointing out.
00:14 In a statement made by the Chinese Foreign Ministry
00:20 on the bombing of the China Coast Guard last Sunday,
00:23 the Philippine ship Sumano was found in Malik.
00:26 In a statement, the spokesman said that the Chinese Foreign Ministry took a serious step
00:31 or a formal statement of the position or protest of the Chinese government against the action of the Philippines.
00:38 China continues to say that the Philippines is repairing the BRP Shera Madre
00:43 that is in Ayungin Shoal, even though the Philippines promised to remove the old ship.
00:48 But the National Security Council of the Philippines says
00:52 that this is a figment of their imagination because they are the only ones who know.
00:57 And then they say, "When?"
00:59 NSC Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya added,
01:03 "We will never enter into agreement that will lead to the abandonment of our sovereign rights and jurisdiction over Ayungin Shoal.
01:14 Precisely because the Ayungin Shoal is within our 200 nautical mile exclusive economic zone.
01:22 It is within the continental shelf in accordance to UNCLOS.
01:27 And most importantly, this was affirmed by the 2016 ruling award of the arbitral tribunal in The Hague.
01:36 So all of the legal grounds are with us."
01:39 Despite the incident, the morale of our troops in the BRP Shera Madre remains high,
01:45 especially since they know that our country is continuously fighting to protect their rights and our sovereignty.
01:53 The Chinese Foreign Ministry says that the Philippines is still making agreements
01:58 between China, the Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia.
02:02 That is why the Philippines is urging to remove the BRP Shera Madre.
02:06 The Department of Foreign Affairs' goal to build a permanent station in Ayungin Shoal
02:11 is in line with China's illegal involvement in the Ninety-Ninety-Five River Incident.
02:16 This is a Philippine right and it is not against any law.
02:20 This was done in 1999 before the conclusion of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea or DOC in 2002.
02:28 That is why it is not against any law.
02:30 China is the one who lost the Ongklos or Arbitral Award and the DOC
02:35 because it is not able to prevent the activities of the Philippines in its own Exclusive Economic Zone.
02:40 According to Professor J. Batong-Bacal, he can see the reason why China is being so strict
02:45 that the construction supplies of the BRP Shera Madre are being destroyed.
02:49 "At some point, the structure might collapse because of the earthquake.
02:56 That is what China is waiting for so that they can rescue.
03:02 If they rescue, they will remove us from there and we will not be able to return."
