Defense Chief galit sa panggigipit ng China sa PH sa Ayungin

  • last year

00:00 In the first instance, when the news broke about China's last attack on the Philippine ships in the Mayayuming Shoal,
00:08 Defense Chief Gilbert Teodoro came out of the boat.
00:12 I'm outraged. I'm outraged about the incident.
00:18 We saw that post-World War II, history is different, right?
00:23 Even the naming, who is the hero, who is not, is confusing.
00:30 Then we are going to rely on the history of foreign countries that want to steal from us.
00:34 Teodoro is in his hometown, Tarlac, to be invited to a reforestation project
00:40 and to receive recognition for the contributions of his family.
00:45 Teodoro is even more angry about how the Philippines is still misleading and bombing its ships.
00:55 They are just bringing supplies and food to the soldiers destined for the BRP Sierra Madre.
01:02 You know, there are propaganda spreading.
01:06 We don't know where it's coming from, maybe from China, maybe from others.
01:13 But their goal is to spread gossip in every sector of society that we are part of.
01:21 I think the narrative is being changed somehow.
01:24 I think the true intent of China in this incident is obvious.
01:30 For me, I believe that the presence of Philippine bases with EDCA sites is being used as a cover
01:41 for their true intent of dominating and exploiting the West Philippine Sea.
01:45 The defense chief could hardly stop the Chinese government's actions.
01:51 I am saying that this is an insult to the Republic of the Philippines.
01:56 We have our own opinions.
01:58 If China thinks that we are being fooled by the American,
02:07 I am being insulted. I have my own opinion. The Filipinos have their own opinion.
02:11 And the Filipinos are getting further away from them.
02:14 Armed Forces Chief Romeo Bronner headed to Puerto Princesa City.
02:19 This is his first visit to Palawan as AFP chief.
02:23 One of his main duties is to raise the morale of the troops guarding the West Philippine Sea.
02:30 In his interview with Pia Ontiveros in the program "Politics As Usual",
02:35 Bronner admitted that it is difficult for the Navy to send additional ships to the Ayungin Shoal.
02:42 Not a good plan.
02:44 Because definitely we will need all of our ships to be able to sail our seas.
02:51 For now, Coast Guard ships are the only ones who are allowed to patrol the West Philippine Sea.
02:58 The Navy is also discussing how to add additional ships to the Ayungin Shoal.
03:04 So there is no decrepit Philippine Navy vessel around that needs to go to the junkyard?
03:11 No, we don't have any plans of doing that, ma'am.
03:15 This is Chodoro's response to the question if the BRP Serramadre is being formed
03:20 so that it will not be given to the Philippines.
03:22 That is one of the tactical questions that the Chinese are asking.
03:25 And sometimes, they ask questions and I will not answer because I am answering their questions.
03:34 But what will never happen, Chodoro insists,
03:39 is the removal of the BRP Serramadre that China is forcing.
03:44 I'm not going to talk about operational details.
03:47 However, the Philippines will not bend over, as the President said.
03:53 And we will not give in to unreasonable demands.
03:57 From Puerto Princesa, Palawan, David Santos, CNN Philippines.
