00:00 This is George Preston for Liverpool World, back at Finch Farm ahead of the Premier League
00:03 opening weekend where Everton will take on Fulham at Goodison Park.
00:06 Sean Dyche addressed the media ahead of that game talking team news and talking about plenty
00:11 of transfer reports and updates as we await plenty of news coming at the end of this week
00:16 and the start of the next.
00:17 In terms of the team news, James Tarkoski who played every single minute of the Premier
00:21 League last season will be fit to start the opening game against Fulham despite a knock
00:25 suffered at the end of pre-season.
00:26 That's confirmed by Dyche, he will be the club's vice-captain this season.
00:30 The Jordan pick for taking a step down from the vice-captain role in Seamus Cole and continuing
00:34 to be the club's captain on and off the pitch.
00:36 In terms of Dominic Carvalho, he is still lacking in match fitness and would have benefited
00:40 from more minutes in pre-season if he had a little bit more time to recover.
00:43 He's still going through his rehab and his match programme but he will be looking to
00:46 start from the bench at best this weekend.
00:48 In terms of players who are confirmed to be out, Dwight McNeil is still struggling with
00:51 an ankle ligament injury and Dyche confirmed that he'll be out for weeks, not days and
00:55 will not be available for the opening game of the Premier League season for Everton.
00:58 In terms of Dele Alli, he had suffered an injury setback just last week after rejoining
01:02 team training after a long time out of the picture.
01:05 Dyche confirmed that he's currently finding himself and settling in well to the Everton
01:08 camp and is also feeling very well in himself which is all the positive after his emotional
01:13 interview with Gary Neville on the overlap just last month.
01:15 In terms of transfers, Sean Dyche refused to comment on Leeds United's Wilfred Niantu
01:20 who had been left out of Leeds' match with Shrewsbury Town last night which sparked rumours
01:24 of a potential move being completed at the end of this week.
01:27 He couldn't talk about Wilfred Niantu, he spoke about Yusuf Shemitty who is about to
01:31 confirm his move to Everton from Sporting Lisbon in a deal worth around £15 million.
01:36 Whereas Everton are about to complete a deal for Yusuf Shemitty, Sean Dyche had no comment
01:40 or any knowledge whatsoever of their interest in PSG's Hugo Iketite.
01:44 Sky Sports News had revealed that the two clubs are discussing a potential loan deal
01:47 but Sean Dyche had no recollection of it and whether he is playing his cards close to his
01:50 chest on that one, we will just have to see.
01:53 Everton are now blessed to have four attacking options up front this season and I asked Sean
01:57 Dyche about the goalscoring issues last season and whether these players can make a difference
02:01 this year.
02:02 Hi Sean, George Peaceman, Liverpool World.
02:03 I just want to talk about the striking options you've got this year.
02:05 You're looking like you're going to have at least three or four players who could potentially
02:08 play down the middle and maybe one more coming in.
02:10 Does that fill you with hope given that you were the Leeds' lowest scorers last year?
02:15 Well it's something that, a trend that we have tried to affect last season with goals
02:19 from other areas, obviously Dwight and Duke being two players who certainly adjusted to
02:23 that challenge.
02:24 I don't think it's just about strikers, it's very helpful if you've got strikers who are
02:28 scoring and on form, that's obvious.
02:30 But we found different ways of affecting games.
02:32 So statistically we hope that the stats come back to us because it's unlikely you have
02:38 another season where three strikers get, I think it was four goals, so that's unlikely.
02:41 You never know but that's unlikely.
02:43 So that alone, we want to change that stat and help them to do that as strikers and if
02:47 we can bring the right people in then we will do.
02:50 In terms of the game at the weekend, Everton will welcome Marco Silva's Fulham side to
02:53 Goodison Park for a three-a-cock kick-off on the opening Premier League weekend where
02:57 Sean Dyche will be hoping to get up to a positive start after a strong pre-season.
