00:00Full-time here at Goodson Park and a disappointing result for what was a good performance from Everton.
00:06A 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City, both goals coming late for the visitors.
00:12As I say, Everton more than match the current Premier League champions who are in pursuit of Champions League qualification.
00:19Although Everton didn't have a lot of guilt-edged chances, although they didn't have as much ball possession which you expect against Manchester City,
00:26they always felt in control of the game.
00:30The first half was fairly cagey, took a while to get going.
00:34City had the first shot on target through Mateus Nunes, comfortably dealt with by Jordan Pickford.
00:40Then Everton started to get on top a little bit and James Tarkowski heading against the post in around the 34th minute mark.
00:50Everton just couldn't take the initiative there.
00:53Going into a break, they were fairly comfortable.
00:55Everton deserved to go in goalless and after the break they started well.
01:00Jarrod Bramfwaite having an effort saved by Stefan Ortega.
01:04But the downfall really started for Everton when James Tarkowski was forced off with a suspected hamstring injury.
01:11I don't think anyone expected James Tarkowski to come off because he's started every single Premier League game
01:18since he arrived at Burnley in the summer of 2022.
01:23And he's only not completed one Premier League game.
01:26That was at Man United early in the season when Everton lost 4-0.
01:29And it was damage limitation because he had been carrying a little bit of a knock at the time.
01:33As soon as he went down, he signalled to the bench he needs to come off.
01:38Looked pretty ominous.
01:39If I'm honest, I'd be surprised if he'll play again this season because it looked a fairly serious hamstring injury.
01:48Everton won't want to take any risk, especially at this stage of the season.
01:51Now they're safe from relegation and they missed his leadership at the back.
01:56Michael Keane come on.
01:58Everton struggled from there on then.
02:00Man City starts to get on top.
02:02Everton's subs didn't make a difference like David Moyes admitted.
02:06Man City's did and six minutes before the end they got a breakthrough through Nicol O'Reilly
02:11who's in a really rich train of fall for Man City.
02:14They got to the byline, pulled it back and there was O'Reilly.
02:17In stoppage time, Matteo Kovacic doubled the advantage.
02:23It was disappointing for Everton.
02:24They deserved more than defeat here.
02:27They deserved at least a share of spoils.
02:29But again, it shows how far they've come under David Moyes
02:32because when you're disappointed you've lost to Manchester City,
02:37albeit at Manchester City's side, we've had the struggles this season,
02:40but still a very good outfit, then it shows the improvements have been made.
02:44Five games left.
02:47Moyes will want a strong end to the season.
02:50Of course, he really want to take momentum into next season,
02:53go to Chelsea next weekend.
02:54But Tarkowski is going to be a massive miss.
02:56Who can fill the void?
02:57Because Michael Keane struggled when he came on.
03:00Maybe David Moyes should have brought Nathan Patterson on at right back
03:03or did want to change two positions,
03:05which you can understand.
03:07And there's players playing for the future in this team.
03:12Fourth retaliation, Michaelenko was excellent at left back.
03:15Of course, he had a really good game, maybe just beating a little bit too easily towards the end,
03:18but you put in a real shift.
03:20Jack Harrison is in a decent vein of form after struggling this season.
03:26He has a good game.
03:27You're just a kind of gay again.
03:28The centre-backs were excellent.
03:30Bramfway Tarkowski before he came off.
03:33Jordan Pickford made a few really good saves.
03:36So, there's some really good performances.
03:38Everton weren't quite at it attack-wise,
03:40but that's to be expected at times against the Manchester City team,
03:44as I say.
03:44The performance was good from Everton.
03:46They were positive to takes,
03:47but unfortunately, they just couldn't get anything out of it.
03:51The third last time they'll play here at Gurdsson Park
03:53before they move to the new stadium.
03:56Finished Everton 0, Man City 2.
