00:00 So every day when I sit down to meditate, I sit like this and then I bring my mind to
00:07 stillness by quietly repeating this word, Maranatha.
00:15 Maranatha.
00:23 I would like to share with you why we meditate and how to meditate.
00:33 We meditate in order to find peace and harmony within ourselves.
00:42 To come to stillness of body is very simple.
00:46 We just learn to sit still.
00:50 So here I am sitting in front of you on the floor in a cross-legged position so that I
00:57 am alert.
00:58 I don't go to sleep during the meditation.
01:05 And once we find a comfortable position to remain still during our period of meditation,
01:15 we bring the mind to stillness.
01:20 Now I meditate as a Christian, so I choose for my meditation word, the word Maranatha.
01:30 Maranatha is in the Aramaic language and it means "Come Lord".
01:37 But you don't have to use this word if you don't like to.
01:41 You can choose whatever word is meaningful to you.
01:45 So what you do is, as soon as you are seated still, close your eyes lightly.
01:54 Take a few moments to be aware of your breath.
02:01 And then begin to introduce the mantra.
02:05 Maranatha Maranatha
02:17 Quietly within me.
02:20 No matter how many times you get distracted, listen to the word so that you are giving
02:27 your full attention to the word.
02:36 Maranatha Maranatha
02:41 Now if you can, try to meditate every morning and every evening.
