Royal Challengers Bangalore Director of Coaching Mike Hesson has pointed out that the good starts given by Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat have been key to RCB's success in IPL 2022 so far. On Tuesday, RCB handed Lucknow Super Giants an 18-run defeat in Mumbai to level with Gujarat Titans at the top of the IPL table on 10 points but Gujarat have a game in hand. New Zealander Hesson praised Josh Hazlewood, Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel for their able to put pressure on batsmen during powerplays. 00:21 I mean, Anuj and Faf have had three 50 round partnerships

00:24 that have been important for us.

00:26 We've also had to bat in some pretty challenging conditions

00:31 and we've struggled to get underway.

00:33 So those 50 round partnerships were important.

00:36 They weren't quick, but they sort of set the foundation.

00:38 So look, once again, Faf came good today

00:42 and obviously was able to take some pressure off

00:46 when we'd lost early wickets.

00:47 And Anuj had done that in previous games.

00:49 So we're ticking along nicely, but we'll always

00:52 look to continue to try and strive to improve.

00:55 Whether that's making a change or not,

00:56 that's something that we'll look to discuss.

00:59 I think the beauty of our side is

01:00 we've got three very good death bowlers.

01:02 So between Hazelwood, Harshal, and Siraj,

01:05 often they'll cover off the last five overs.

01:08 Today we felt that Siraj was doing a nice job coming back

01:11 through the middle.

01:12 He obviously got us a wicket, which was important.

01:14 And he was able to bowl nicely to the new batter

01:16 in terms of taking the pace off.

01:17 So I think within our side, we've

01:19 got the flexibility to pick and choose,

01:21 depending on our opposition or who's going well at that time.

01:25 But ideally, we don't want two bowlers having

01:28 to bowl four overs at the back end.

01:29 But today we did, and they did an excellent job.
