Andrei Iosivas on Bengals' Offense, Joint Practice With Packers
Transcript
00:00 Andre, your name has come up so many times in camp
00:03 just because of your natural speed,
00:06 your athletic ability, your talent.
00:09 What does it feel like to be able to show these coaches
00:11 exactly what you're made of?
00:13 I mean, it's cool.
00:13 I came in with a small chip on my shoulder
00:16 coming from the Ivy League, later round pick,
00:19 all those kind of things.
00:20 I mean, I was blessed to be picked in the draft,
00:22 obviously, but I still feel like I had some stuff to prove.
00:25 And that's kind of just the guy I am,
00:27 wanting to prove everyone right, who believes in me,
00:30 and prove people wrong who don't.
00:32 And so that's kind of how my mentality
00:34 going into these things.
00:35 You just finished your first joint practice in the NFL today.
00:38 How did that go?
00:39 Was it nice being able to go up against a team that's
00:41 not your own?
00:42 It was definitely fun because these guys
00:45 are my brothers in this locker room.
00:47 So it's hard to be like, I'm intense,
00:48 but a different side of me comes out
00:50 when it's people that aren't my brothers.
00:52 And so it's funny.
00:53 I was talking a little bit.
00:54 I think people think of me in here
00:55 as kind of the quiet, nice guy.
00:56 But if you look at the special teams tape, I was talking a lot.
00:59 So it was definitely--
01:00 I saw that.
01:01 Yeah, it was definitely a fun time.
01:02 And I can't wait for Friday because I think
01:05 these guys are scared of me.
01:06 Good.
01:07 They should be, I think.
01:08 After what I've seen so far in training camp,
01:10 I mean, everyone is so excited about just your ability.
01:13 I've heard coaches talk about how much ahead you
01:15 are than what they were expecting when you first
01:18 came in.
01:19 What are you hoping to show them on Friday?
01:22 Just that I can play ball.
01:23 And I've been learning a lot just
01:25 from the reps I've been taking in camp.
01:27 I know the positions they want me to know.
01:30 And then I just got to go out there and execute them,
01:32 just play football, make some people miss,
01:34 break some tackles, score touchdowns.
01:35 And that's what it's all about.
01:37 How comfortable do you feel now that you've
01:38 had a couple of months to look at the playbook,
01:41 be in those situations, and really understand
01:43 what they want from you?
01:44 Yeah, I mean, I think I'm really comfortable right now,
01:46 I mean, just at least knowing what they're expecting of me.
01:49 And so I have a goal to reach.
01:51 And I know the steps to take to reach that goal.
01:53 So it's pretty-- once I can set it out and see a plan,
01:56 it's like it's just a walk in the park.
01:58 I mean, obviously, this is not an easy time.
02:00 But you know what I mean.
02:02 Like mentally, it kind of calms you down,
02:03 just knowing what you need to do and how you can improve.
02:06 And I have really good coaches and people backing me.
02:08 So it's been a good process so far.
02:10 Level 1 to 10 of your excitement.
02:13 Friday night, lights are on, first NFL live action.
02:17 How excited are you for that moment to step on that field?
02:20 Yeah, it has to be a 10 or above.
02:22 Like, even when we were in the--
02:25 on Saturday, the back at home thing,
02:27 with all the fans in the stadium,
02:28 I was already getting kind of pumped for that.
02:30 So my family's coming out.
02:32 And I can't wait for the supporters who support me
02:34 on Twitter and everywhere else that want to come see me.
02:37 And so I just want to show up for the fans.
02:39 And it's probably the biggest crowd I'm ever going to play in
02:41 in my life so far.
02:43 So it's going to be a lot of good energy for sure.
02:46 Thank you so much.
