In a rather one-sided final in Male on October 16, the Indian football team scored thrice without reply against Nepal to win the SAFF Championship for a record eighth time. Skipper Sunil Chhetri (48th minute) opened the scoring before youngster Suresh Singh (50') doubled the lead. Super-sub Abdul Sahal (90') settled the issue beyond any doubt.
