  • last year
India's 2018-19 tour of Australia ended on a happy note on Friday with Virat Kohli & Co winning both the ODI and Test series. At the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground, Mahendra Singh Dhoni anchored India's chase in the third and final ODI to power the visitors to their maiden bilateral ODI series Down Under.

Chasing a below-par target of 231 runs, a vigilant Dhoni played one of his better knocks in recent times to help India romp home with four balls to spare.

Dhoni, who won the man of the series award, remained not out on 87 off 114 balls. He stitched an unbeaten 121-run fourth-wicket stand with Kedar Jadhav (61 off 57).

00:00 As an individual, we know that there's been no one more committed to Indian cricket than MS Dhoni.
00:07 I think people should let him have his space.
00:10 I think firstly, as a team we're very happy for MS.
00:16 We're very happy that he's amongst the runs because it's very important to get runs under your belt.
00:22 To get that rhythm and get that confidence back.
00:25 Especially when you're not playing so much international cricket.
00:28 So from that point of view, I think it's a great thing for the team that he's come here and scored in all three games.
00:34 And we feel that he will definitely build on this performance in this series.
00:40 From here on in New Zealand and back home as well.
00:43 He'll feel pretty confident about his rhythm as a batsman.
00:48 Every batsman needs that. Whether it's a club game or an international game.
00:52 You need runs next to your name to gain confidence.
00:57 From that point of view, as a team we're very happy.
01:01 But more than anything, he must be very happy and pleased that he's amongst the runs.
01:06 And he's feeling confident about his game again.
01:08 Which is very important for a batsman.
01:10 Many things happen on the outside. People say a lot of things.
01:14 But as an individual, we know that there's been no one more committed to Indian cricket than MS Dhoni.
01:21 I think people should let him have his space.
01:25 Because he's contributed so much for the nation.
01:28 They should just let him figure out things on his own about his game and what he needs to do.
01:34 He's been one of the most intelligent cricketers.
01:36 He's not someone who's not aware of what needs to be done.
01:39 As a team, we are totally in sync and very happy with what he's doing.
01:45 We're all very happy for him.
