Outlook Exclusive: Reporting from Ground Zero of the New Delhi Stampede

At 9:55 PM on February 15, a stampede at New Delhi Railway Station left at least 18 dead and over a dozen injured. Overcrowding on platforms 14-15 occurred as passengers rushed to board trains to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh.  Outlook reports directly from Platform 14 of New Delhi Railway Station. 00:00A tragedy happened here last night killing at least at last count 18 people with about

00:1011 women and 5 children who have also been reported dead and far many more injured.

00:16This happened due to a stampede at 9.55pm on platform 14 and 15 of the New Delhi railway

00:22station where a kumbh bound special train, the Pragyaraj Express had landed.

00:52Eye witness reports that Outlook has spoken to including one Ravi Kumar who runs a stall

01:07here and was present there last night says that rumours were spread that the Pragyaraj

01:12train would be boarding from another platform.

01:17This was along with the fact that there was already a very crowded platform with over

01:221,500 people here and two other trains being delayed led to an extreme congestion here

01:29on the platform which led to a lot of pushing and shoving.

01:33Ravi Kumar though he is not here today as he has gone back home told Outlook that he

01:38saw at least 18 people fall and in the midst of all of this the coolies and the police

01:44officers on the scene were lifting people up and carrying them through the stampede.

01:50The story is still developing and a number of the injured have been sent over to a hospital

01:54while the dead die now in the morgue of RML hospital.
