00:00 Antelope Island is sort of this, it's this island that has no trees.
00:06 It feels like you've gone to another planet.
00:09 It's this really unforgiving, really sort of brutal terrain.
00:13 Just tough, gritty.
00:16 The Buffalo 100 is put on by Jim Skaggs.
00:19 He's the race director here. It's a couple decades old.
00:22 It's a really early race. It comes in March.
00:25 It's really hard to be prepared in March.
00:28 So in 2018, Jeremy reached out to me and asked if I would pace him at the race.
00:33 You know, finance guy, data analyst guy, PhD, entrepreneur.
00:38 But he is the grittiest motherfucker you will ever come across.
00:42 And I've been around ultras a lot, and so I feel like I know grit when I see it.
00:45 Jeremy's just the type that would rather finish dead last than DNF.
00:50 And I think that embodies the thing that all of us sort of non-elites are out here doing.
00:55 If not trying to prove something to ourselves.
00:57 If we're going to sign up for 100 Milers, it's because we think we can go 100 Milers.
01:01 And I've DNF'd a lot of 100 Milers.
01:04 I would give anything to have the resolve like Jeremy to finish dead last.
01:10 I mean, dead fucking last before DNFing.
01:13 I'd give anything to have that, and I think that's why I'm going to keep towing the starting line of 100 Milers.
01:18 Until I find that in myself.
