DSWD eyes complete reassessment of 4Ps beneficiaries in Sept

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will complete its reassessment of the beneficiaries under the Listahan 3 of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) by September with hopes of starting the disbursement of the cash aid thereafter, Secretary Rex Gatchalian said on Tuesday, Aug. 15. 00:00 We have a delay in dispersing this year because if we can remember, the basis of 4Ps is the

00:11 list of families.

00:12 And the last list of families, list of 3, was conducted in the period of 2019-2020.

00:18 These were the COVID years of lockdown.

00:20 So what happened there, there were less than 700,000 families who were tagged initially

00:27 before the lockdown happened, that they were no longer poor.

00:31 But after COVID, they returned to the department and they said that they returned to poverty

00:36 because they lost their jobs, our family was affected by COVID.

00:40 So they requested a reassessment, that's 700,000 families.

00:44 That's why the department's decision was to reassess.

00:49 So the reassessment is ongoing now and it will end in September so that we can really

00:54 make sure that we can properly classify those who should be included in the 4Ps program,

01:00 those who should not be included in the program, and those who should not be included in the program.

01:04 And then what we can do next is now start paying them.

01:07 And it's fast for the department because they have a cash card.

01:12 Once the fund is obligated, it will be dispersed immediately.

01:15 So we see that in the DSWD, when it comes to 4Ps, which is half of our budget by the way,

01:21 that's around P96 billion, half of the DSWD budget.

01:26 By the end of the year, after this assessment is done,

01:29 we believe that we can fully utilize the budget allocated for 4Ps.
