Transcript
00:00 The Premier League has introduced a number of new small rule changes in time for the start of the 2023-2024 season.
00:07 The first change concerns the offside rule and states that players will not necessarily be deemed onside if the ball touches an opponent before them.
00:14 This sounds confusing but should help to make things clearer in practice.
00:18 Time wasting will be massively clamped down on, whether that be bookings for kicking the ball away or goalkeepers taking their time or adding time on for celebrations and substitutions.
00:29 Managers could face bigger punishments for overstepping the mark towards officials or each other.
00:34 On top of that, punishments will also be increased for players crowding officials demanding for decisions to go their way.
00:41 Finally, in the technical area on the sidelines, only one coach will be allowed in at a time or consultations and conversations between coaches will have to take place in the dugout away from the pitch.
00:52 The upshot is that officials will have more powers given some of the dark tactics and bubbly moments that occurred last season.
