00:04 Greg, where are you gonna end up today?
00:06 - What?
00:07 - What is your final destination?
00:10 - I can't believe I did not see that coming.
00:12 - You said, "What is what?"
00:14 - I was like, "What are my plans today?"
00:16 - No, you did it like, "What's your final..."
00:18 - Yeah, yeah, no, I got it.
00:19 That's hilarious.
00:20 That's good comedy.
00:21 I see how you've made it so far in this profession.
00:23 - Yes, it is always good
00:25 when you have to explain your jokes.
00:27 We're watching "Final Destination,"
00:29 which is a whole franchise
00:30 in which I've avoided the entire thing.
00:32 - I know the general concept,
00:34 but I haven't seen the franchise.
00:36 - I don't know the general concept.
00:37 - Perfect.
00:38 - I assume we have to get somewhere.
00:40 - It's a road trip movie.
00:43 - And then you die.
00:45 Everybody in life does.
00:47 Anyway, and if you like that concept,
00:50 then leave a like, comment, subscribe,
00:52 hit that bell, all that good stuff.
00:54 Let us know where your final destination of the day is.
00:57 If you want to see more, become a patron.
01:00 You can see the full-length reaction watch-along.
01:03 - It looks like you're reading off of a text there, Roxy.
01:06 - No, I was.
01:08 No, they can't tell.
01:09 You want to know what it is?
01:10 - I thought you know how to pick up lines.
01:12 - I only, only full-length reaction watch-along.
01:16 Watch the full-length reaction watch-along.
01:18 (laughing)
01:19 Go to the full-length reaction watch-along.
01:22 Nailed it.
01:23 - I don't know what's going on.
01:24 - That should be their final destination, is Patreon.
01:26 - Yeah, there you go.
01:27 - To see everything.
01:28 Okay, whatever, Greg.
01:31 You weren't ready for this, but I was, and that's final.
01:35 Okay, let's do it.
01:36 (upbeat music)
01:39 - How old is this movie?
01:45 I think it's like 2000, 2001.
01:48 - You told me there's like six of these, right?
01:50 - I have no idea how many there are.
01:51 There's definitely more than four.
01:53 - Is this a horror movie?
01:55 - No, it's a road trip comedy.
01:56 - Did you, are you having me watch another horror movie?
01:59 - No, it's a road trip comedy.
02:00 (dramatic music)
02:04 This is just satire, what you're looking at right now.
02:07 - I genuinely thought that this one was not gonna be scary.
02:10 - No, no, it's a funny one.
02:11 - Guess all my favorite comedies start in the rain.
02:14 - Devin Solley, did you know he was in this?
02:21 - That's the one thing I said I knew.
02:22 - Oh, I thought he was like maybe in Perched.
02:26 - (laughs) The only thing I know
02:28 is Devin Solley's photo on the cover.
02:30 (dramatic music)
02:33 - Sean William Scott's in this?
02:35 He's not even like single billed.
02:37 - This music is unbelievably intense.
02:41 - Oh, it's just to set up the tension and release
02:43 for when the laughs come, you know?
02:45 - I think it's mean what you've done to me.
02:49 (laughing)
02:50 - Todd and George's dad just called,
02:52 picking you up at 3.30 tomorrow.
02:53 And the bus leaves the high school for the airport
02:55 around five.
02:56 - Whoa, whoa, whoa, mama, mama, you gotta leave that on.
02:58 - He is young.
03:00 - Take me the last flight without the plane crashing
03:01 or anything, so I figured it's gotta be on the bag,
03:04 or at least with the bag.
03:05 - This has to be '90s.
03:07 - Yeah, man, he's unrecognizable.
03:10 - I'm still here.
03:11 (laughing)
03:14 - It's a comedy.
03:18 - Senior trip with your friends in Paris,
03:22 10 days in the springtime.
03:24 Live it up, Alex, you got your whole life ahead of you.
03:27 - Wow, what an existential crisis look the guy had.
03:33 - They were in two different movies just now.
03:35 What a, live it up, Alex.
03:38 - 180 AM.
03:45 - This movie's about to do a 180.
03:51 - Ooh.
03:52 - Oh, I'm queen of the puns today.
03:54 - Queen of the commentary right here.
03:56 - Let me give you a hand with this, man.
03:57 - No, I, there you go.
03:59 - Cardi, there he is.
04:00 - There's my man.
04:01 - (speaking in foreign language)
04:04 - Does that mean go?
04:06 - Don't know.
04:07 - Look, this is for both of you, all right?
04:10 Have a great time.
04:11 - $20 for you guys to enjoy.
04:14 - They all have like a voice that's like,
04:16 ow, well, the old time pictures.
04:21 - The talking.
04:22 - We're gonna go to our final destination, see?
04:24 - Death is not the end.
04:26 - Will be for you if you harass my students.
04:31 - Damn, that's the teacher?
04:33 Holy crap.
04:34 - 'Cause she looks young and hot?
04:36 - Yes.
04:38 (laughing)
04:41 Yeah.
04:42 - Have you received any packages
04:43 from persons unknown to you?
04:45 (dramatic music)
04:48 - Final destination.
04:53 - September 25th, 925.
04:56 Your birthday is the same as your departure time.
04:58 - It's a omen or something?
05:00 - Oh.
05:04 - That was good.
05:04 - Dude.
05:06 - Yeah, bro.
05:07 (laughing)
05:08 Bro.
05:09 Dude.
05:10 - Oh.
05:13 Oh my God, what?
05:15 - That teacher condones inappropriate behavior.
05:18 - Now let's say halfway through the flight,
05:20 your body wants that airplane food out.
05:22 - Yes.
05:23 - Like directly after you walks in.
05:25 Crystal or Blake, do you want them to associate you
05:28 with that watery sting in their eye,
05:29 that reflexive gag at the back of their throat?
05:32 - Is this how you talk with your girlfriends?
05:33 - Yep.
05:35 Oh my God, they're taking a dump together.
05:38 Is this what you do with your guy friends?
05:41 - That's how Koi and I prep before a Comic-Con panel, man.
05:44 - That's why he was late.
05:45 - That's why I was like, dude, you're taking way too long.
05:48 - Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your patience.
05:52 At this time, we would like to begin pre-boarding
05:54 a Vol-A Air Flight 180 to Paris through gate 46.
05:58 - This guy is sensing all kinds of weird,
06:01 the most alarming warning signs.
06:03 - He's starting to piss me off.
06:12 - I know, sometimes I'm like,
06:13 I think you're reading too much into things.
06:15 - He manifested whatever's about to come.
06:17 - Whoa.
06:20 - Hi.
06:21 - Hello, how you doing?
06:23 - I'm fine.
06:24 - This group of personalities
06:26 and what they talk about are so weird.
06:28 - He's in the 25th row, birthday's the 25th of September,
06:33 925, picking up on something, Greg.
06:36 - Could you trade seats with Blake
06:37 so she and I could sit together?
06:38 She asked Todd, but he said he had
06:40 some sort of medical thing.
06:42 - Yeah.
06:43 - Push over, I would have done the same thing.
06:47 - Don't leave the 25th row,
06:48 you're gonna cause an accident, I guess.
06:50 - Because of you, I gotta sit here and watch Stuart Little.
06:54 - I feel like these are all setting up
06:56 some type of domino effect
06:57 and I have no idea where it's going.
07:00 - I think it's just showing us everything's going wrong.
07:02 Ooh, maybe this is like Groundhog Day,
07:03 we're gonna have to relive it, no?
07:05 - Him getting on the plane?
07:07 - I don't know, like all the steps.
07:09 (laughing)
07:11 - We're going into the thunder?
07:20 - We're okay.
07:25 - Jesus.
07:38 - This is kind of scary, actually.
07:40 - Maybe this is not the concept I thought it was.
07:48 - Oh, shit.
07:54 - Holy balls, the guy was right.
07:59 - Oh my God, what is happening?
08:04 - Jesus.
08:05 - Holy shit.
08:11 - Alan, could you trade seats with Blake
08:18 so she and I could sit together?
08:21 - Okay, I know you don't know,
08:23 but okay, I think it is the concept I thought it was.
08:26 You'll see, I'll stop saying stuff.
08:27 - Is it like Groundhog Day?
08:29 - No.
08:30 (laughing)
08:32 - The plane's gonna explode!
08:36 - This is your idea of a joke, we call it a joke.
08:38 - It's not a joke!
08:38 - We'll remove you from this aircraft and out with minions.
08:41 - I'll remove myself!
08:42 - Get off!
08:43 - She was watching YFY.
08:46 - Shoving!
08:46 - I would've kicked her ass, man!
08:48 - She senses he's right.
08:54 - Hey!
08:55 - You got this?
08:56 - If no one gets back on board, that's my call.
08:58 - Is it wrong that if I was this embarrassed
09:01 by what I just caused,
09:02 I would wanna be right about what's gonna happen?
09:04 (laughing)
09:06 - You better be right.
09:07 - Just so I could be like, "See?"
09:09 - The left side blows up
09:11 and then the whole plane just explodes.
09:12 And it was so real,
09:13 just like how everything happens, you know?
09:15 - You been on a lot of planes that blew up?
09:17 - There they go.
09:21 - Watch it blow.
09:22 - My trick, Brownie.
09:26 - What's wrong with that plane?
09:27 - It blew.
09:28 - Oh, shit!
09:29 - Whoa!
09:29 (explosion)
09:30 - Whoa!
09:31 (dramatic music)
09:34 - That's what I would be like, "See?
09:36 "I told you guys."
09:38 - Not a good time for "I told you so."
09:39 (laughing)
09:40 - But man, everyone would think it's my fault then, huh?
09:42 - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:43 That you like, planted a bomb or something.
09:45 Why are you still pissed?
09:49 He saved your life, homie.
09:51 - You look at me as if I caused this.
09:52 - I think that's why.
09:53 - Did you take any sedatives before boarding the plane?
09:57 Or on board, did you take any sleeping pills,
09:59 any narcotics, any hallucinogens, Alex?
10:01 Did you take any drugs?
10:02 - I saw it happen.
10:03 - I did take a big dump.
10:05 - I took a huge dump before it.
10:07 (laughing)
10:08 I was trying to get laid.
10:10 - My brother, George, he told me to go
10:13 and keep an eye on Alex.
10:14 - It's a great use of the clock.
10:16 - He stayed and he told me to get off the plane.
10:21 - Larry Murneau said I should get back on,
10:23 but I told him that he should go.
10:26 - I'm glad out of all the teachers,
10:27 she's the one who got off.
10:28 - Why?
10:29 - I just don't like looking at her.
10:31 (laughing)
10:33 - Same.
10:35 - Because I saw and I heard Alex.
10:38 - Believe men.
10:39 - Believe him.
10:40 - Believe, hashtag, believe men.
10:41 (laughing)
10:44 - The blonde girl gives off Brittany Murphy energy.
10:49 - Yeah, a little bit.
10:51 She looks so familiar.
10:52 - Oh no.
10:55 She's all alone.
10:56 Who would have thought a plane explosion movie
10:59 could be this fun?
11:01 - Do you think she saw something too?
11:02 - No, I think she just believed in based off
11:04 his spiritual energy or something like that.
11:06 - He's not a witch.
11:07 So is this known as an action franchise?
11:12 - It's an action comedy franchise.
11:14 - No, okay.
11:15 Stop lying to me, Greg.
11:17 Action horror?
11:19 - No, it's just a horror franchise.
11:20 Where's the action, what action horror
11:22 have you seen so far?
11:23 - Explosion.
11:25 - No, it's just a horror.
11:27 - And shoving.
11:28 And the girl making out. - And shitting.
11:31 - She made out with him, that was a lot of action.
11:34 - 39 days have passed since we lost our 39 loved ones,
11:38 friends, and teachers.
11:40 - We gotta have a funeral, 39 days.
11:42 (laughing)
11:44 - Before we can escape.
11:47 - You did this.
11:48 - And time, we must mourn and celebrate theirs
11:52 with this memorial.
11:54 - Oh, I feel like that was an important line.
11:57 (soft music)
11:59 (laughing)
12:02 This movie's a little corny, but I like it.
12:04 It's fun.
12:05 (laughing)
12:06 It's like I'm genuinely having fun watching this.
12:09 - I hope you don't think browning me
12:10 'cause my name ain't up on this wall.
12:12 I owe you anything.
12:13 - Why don't you stay off the JD then, huh, Carter?
12:16 - Yeah, bro.
12:16 - The what?
12:18 - I control my life, not you.
12:19 - JD.
12:21 - I'm never gonna die.
12:22 - I'm never gonna die?
12:24 - You have a weird way of grieving, homie.
12:25 - Hey, look, when he gets over this thing,
12:27 you and me, we'll go trip to the city,
12:29 you know, catch the Yanks.
12:31 - Get a hot dog.
12:32 - He's kind of like 80 years old.
12:34 (laughing)
12:35 - Because of you, I'm still alive.
12:37 Thank you.
12:38 - They're both outsiders now.
12:41 - Paparazzi.
12:42 - That the hour of death cannot be forecast,
12:46 or that death could arrive this same afternoon,
12:49 and which has every hour filled in advance.
12:52 Death could come for us at any moment.
12:54 - That actually was really affecting me,
12:56 until you spoke.
12:57 Death can come at any moment.
13:00 Like I was hearing, "Wow, live your life to the fullest."
13:04 You heard, "Death is coming."
13:06 - This guy. - Every time he poops,
13:11 he hasn't gone since.
13:12 - What was your audition?
13:14 - Yeah, what a shot.
13:15 - Can you sit on this toilet for us, please?
13:17 - I'm curious what's happening right now.
13:20 (eerie music)
13:22 - I don't understand the brand name.
13:28 - It's Tau-Fu?
13:31 - Tau-Fu?
13:32 Is it Tau-Fu?
13:33 I don't know.
13:34 Wow, you've been consuming a lot.
13:35 Slide into our DMs, man.
13:42 - Yeah.
13:43 - Yes.
13:44 - Wow, you're off to a great shape, my friend.
13:52 - It does feel like he did that on purpose.
13:54 - What the hell?
14:00 - Flubber.
14:05 - Yeah, is he gonna become a monster?
14:07 - No, no, no, no.
14:09 Don't cut yourself in your nose, bro.
14:12 - No, no, I feel like it's gonna go up.
14:14 - I know, yeah.
14:15 - Oh, he's gonna electrocute himself.
14:20 Oh no.
14:21 - Oh, this movie's having fun.
14:27 Stupid L.
14:33 - What's it say?
14:38 What does it say?
14:39 (ominous music)
14:42 Todd.
14:44 - Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
14:50 - All right, just don't panic, man.
14:55 - Oh.
15:00 - It's called physical comedy, Roxy.
15:03 - No.
15:06 - That is your best bet.
15:08 Do you think he's gonna live through this or no?
15:10 - No.
15:11 - You don't think what's-his-name's gonna save him?
15:13 - No.
15:14 - Bummer.
15:19 - Oh, the water retreats.
15:24 - So what was the water on the plane?
15:27 Like, what is the through line?
15:30 - I don't think the water's the through line.
15:32 - Yeah, what is?
15:33 - If I remember the basic concept,
15:37 I think they'll have to explain it at some point.
15:40 I'd rather not give it away if I happen to be right.
15:43 - Get out of here.
15:44 - Why get out of here?
15:48 He clearly didn't do anything.
15:49 - They're gonna think he did.
15:51 - Didn't you see it?
15:53 He caused Todd so much guilt over George staying on the plane.
15:56 - Oh, he took himself, they think?
15:57 - He took his own life.
15:58 - Oh no.
15:59 - Why is she there?
16:02 She's gone.
16:07 - So something with the elements,
16:09 water, air, plane,
16:12 the stretch.
16:14 Or is it really about the toilet?
16:17 'Cause you know.
16:20 - Why were you at Todd's house last night?
16:27 - Good question.
16:28 - I'm glad you liked it.
16:29 - Two, they haven't ruled out anything
16:31 and the fact that seven people got off the plane
16:33 is probably weird enough
16:34 and it doesn't help that the visionary's friend
16:36 just committed suicide.
16:37 No, like you, the sculpture doesn't even know
16:41 what or why it is.
16:43 It's reluctant to take form
16:44 and you're creating an absolute
16:46 but incomprehensible attraction.
16:48 - The production designer had fun with that one.
16:51 - I didn't even know where those emotions were coming from
16:56 until you started freaking out.
16:58 - I didn't see what you saw.
17:00 I felt it.
17:01 - She's an empath.
17:03 - I've never dealt with death before.
17:05 This could all be in our head.
17:06 It just feels like it's all around us.
17:08 What if Todd was just the first of us?
17:11 - Yeah, obviously it's coming for each of you.
17:14 - Whatever it was that made him Todd is definitely gone.
17:17 - Chemicals!
17:19 - Waste.
17:20 - Shh.
17:21 - Please, you'll wake the dead.
17:25 - Candy man.
17:26 - Why does hand do that?
17:27 - Chemicals.
17:28 - I'm unbelievably confused.
17:30 - Catavaric spasms.
17:31 - Is that true?
17:33 - What are all those tiny marks?
17:35 - Cuticle lacerations from pulling at the wire.
17:38 - He wasn't trying to kill himself.
17:39 It was an accident.
17:40 - In death, there are no accidents.
17:43 The airplanes that we ride or walk out of,
17:47 it's all part of death's sadistic design
17:50 leading to the grave.
17:52 - What a weirdo.
17:53 - Does that mean if you figure out the design,
17:55 you can cheat death?
17:56 - Oh, he's buying into this conversation.
17:58 - You've already done that by walking off the plane.
18:01 Your friend's departure shows that death
18:03 has a new design for all of you.
18:06 - His eyes are blinking.
18:07 - You have to figure out how and when
18:11 it's coming back at you.
18:13 - Tony Todd's such a good actor.
18:15 - And you don't even wanna (beep) with Fat Mac Daddy.
18:18 - I'm sorry we broke in and--
18:21 - No harm, no foul.
18:24 - Do you get it?
18:26 - I'll see you soon.
18:27 - Doing that?
18:29 - Yeah, it's death coming for them.
18:31 - Yeah, that was clear.
18:33 - Yeah, so they have to beat the design.
18:35 - Wait, that was very clear when we then--
18:38 - It's not an elemental thing.
18:41 - How is death moving the water?
18:43 - 'Cause it's death.
18:44 - Did you see Todd die?
18:46 Did it happen again on the plane?
18:48 - No, it didn't, but I mean, it might as well have.
18:50 This is a message or something
18:52 or someone hinting at a design.
18:54 - Right, like who, the elements.
18:56 - I mean, you can find death omens anywhere you want to.
18:59 Coffee starts with a C and ends with an E.
19:02 So does the word choke.
19:03 So what, we're gonna choke to death?
19:05 - This dude's like in tune with death.
19:06 Oh, that was creepy, I just realized what happened.
19:08 He saw a bus, he saw a bus passing on the window,
19:11 but there was actually no bus.
19:12 - Right, right.

39:48 So stuff like that was a bit of a mising ingredient,
39:51 but I'm sure there's other things to sort of unpack,
39:54 but overall, I mean, it's a little bit of a corny film.
39:57 It's a little cheesy,
39:57 and the characters are thinly written for the most part,
40:00 but when they are doing the set pieces,
40:04 I thought they were really fun.
40:06 It was tense, and okay, how are they gonna die?
40:09 And it was creative 'cause it is like a domino,
40:12 every one of them is like a domino effect,
40:15 where you're like, what's gonna lead to what?
40:18 And the capturing of them,
40:20 they kept getting bigger and bigger,
40:21 and I thought the shots of a lot of the objects
40:24 were really cool because it was almost like magnified
40:28 every single object around us.
40:29 That way we were paying close attention
40:31 and everything felt like a bigger threat
40:33 for something that felt so small.
40:34 So I thought that was well done,
40:37 and the idea is a really fun idea.
40:39 I think it's a fun idea.
40:40 So that's my general thoughts.
40:43 What are your general thoughts?
40:44 - I feel like in order for this to work for me,
40:46 I needed one very specific thing,
40:49 and that was some kind of an explanation,
40:52 and they gave it to me with the airplane seating.
40:55 I was waiting for that moment because like I said to you,
40:57 I was like, so what is the through line here?
40:59 I kept wondering, 'cause I understood the death,
41:01 they cheated death, I got that pretty quickly,
41:03 but then I was like, is this a monster movie?
41:06 Like what's with the water moving or why now?
41:08 They cheated death, so now why is this happening like this?
41:12 And then when they explained based on the order of the seats
41:16 and the way that it would have gone,
41:17 I was like, oh, that's really clever,
41:19 and I really appreciate that they didn't just say,
41:22 because it is the order,
41:24 I thought that that was really a smart device that they used
41:28 that I didn't see coming,
41:30 and that kind of put everything to me,
41:32 made everything come together.
41:34 - Sure, sure.
41:35 - And was easy to track and fun to track.
41:37 Like, okay, so now I still not 100% clear on the rules
41:41 on the skippage slash like some of the,
41:45 if you see it, but sometimes you didn't see it,
41:49 but sometimes he did, you know,
41:50 like where the, with several of the different people,
41:55 he would see the way and then it didn't go that way,
41:58 but then death kept coming for them,
42:00 or like with Todd, he just sees a piece of paper
42:03 that said Todd, but he got no sense
42:04 of how it was gonna happen to Todd.
42:06 You know, there was a variety of the ways
42:08 that it's coming to him, but I liked that
42:10 because it kept it fresh
42:11 and we didn't know how it was gonna come to him.
42:13 So I kind of thought that was really groovy.
42:16 Not to sound like.
42:18 - It's groovy, man.
42:19 - I kind of did, 'cause I didn't know
42:20 what I was getting myself into.
42:21 I didn't know there was a horror movie,
42:23 if it was a thriller of sorts.
42:26 I don't know what I thought it was gonna be.
42:27 I guess maybe more like a action,
42:31 you said road trip and you laughed at it at the beginning.
42:36 I thought maybe that's what it was,
42:37 like how to get to the final destination of something.
42:40 I don't know how I completely missed
42:41 what this whole franchise was.
42:43 - Yeah, the concept that I heard was that it's basically,
42:48 the only thing I really heard was that people survive,
42:53 like the concept of the movies are people survive something
42:56 and then death keeps coming for them.
42:58 So I was getting thrown off
42:59 and they were all dying on the plane.
43:01 I was like, oh, maybe that's not what I remembered
43:05 from what I heard.
43:06 But yeah, no, I agree with your assessment there
43:09 about them having rules
43:11 because they actually, for the audience,
43:14 allows us to feel like there's some semblance of hope
43:19 for them defeating it for something
43:22 that they can't really see or tell
43:24 when it's really gonna come.
43:26 - Yeah, the pattern aspect, it's like, oh, okay,
43:28 so now we're doing something here.
43:30 - Yeah, and allows them to at least prepare
43:32 or anticipate in some capacity.
43:34 - That corner scene.
43:36 - The corner scene?
43:39 - Corner, corner.
43:40 - Corner, yeah, yeah.
43:41 - That's how you say it, corner, right?
43:43 - Yeah, yeah.
43:43 - Am I saying it right?
43:45 - I am not confident in its pronunciation.
43:47 - Corner. - Corner.
43:48 - Corner.
43:50 - Corner, with Tony Todd.
43:52 - Yeah, exactly.
43:53 - The candy man.
43:53 - That scene was so intense and never came back.
43:57 So it's kind of like,
43:59 I thought he was orchestrating stuff at some point.
44:02 - And he's got the most information too.
44:04 He had the most vital piece of information.
44:06 - Yeah, he's like, there's a pattern.
44:07 And I was like, how's homie know this?
44:10 And then we don't know that, but.
44:12 - Well, I love Tony Todd's presence.
44:13 - Me too, me too.
44:14 - He's such a presence.
44:15 - I was stoked that he was in it.
44:16 - And no one else could deliver that kind of monologue.
44:19 - Wait, did we see what year this was?
44:20 - That kind of like tongue in cheek delivery,
44:23 like the self-awareness.
44:24 It's 2000, there it is, yeah.
44:26 With that self-aware delivery.
44:28 - Which means they filmed it in '98, '99.
44:30 - Yeah, yeah, exactly.
44:31 So it definitely still had a '90s vibe about it.
44:34 - Their lips are all very red in the marketing.
44:38 - I know.
44:39 - I mean, they wanted to have that.
44:40 - Want to suck your blood.
44:41 - Young adult sex appeal.
44:44 - Yeah.
44:45 - It's the voluptuous parts of the lips.
44:49 - Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
44:50 - You know?
44:51 So I'm like, ooh, I wanna kiss all these actors right now.
44:54 - Yeah, and that worked, it was a good looking crew.
44:56 Yeah, they did a good job with this, they really did.
44:58 I liked the characters.
45:00 It was very stereotypical, you know, with like,
45:03 we don't know that he was a jock,
45:05 but like the douchebag jock character
45:07 with the girlfriend who is like
45:10 the cheerleader type kind of thing,
45:12 then the punk girl, him being the outcast,
45:15 and then the kind of dim-witted, like goofier friend.
45:20 - Yeah, I think it could've used a little bit of,
45:24 'cause it takes itself very serious,
45:27 but then again, sometimes I wasn't sure
45:31 if it took itself very serious
45:32 or if it had an actual humor,
45:35 like a self-aware humor about itself.
45:37 There were times I couldn't tell.
45:39 - Yeah, like what do they think this is?
45:41 - 'Cause there were times where I was like,
45:42 oh, this could make for some really good
45:44 self-aware situations.
45:47 'Cause it seemed to have a sense of awareness
45:49 when they were like teasing the audience
45:51 of what's gonna happen to them,
45:52 what's gonna happen to them in each specific set piece.
45:55 But the other times it was like,
45:57 no, I feel like this movie takes itself very serious.
46:00 And it's kind of, and that,
46:01 but I think that's also lens,
46:03 it's kind of like this,
46:05 it's this train that keeps going in and out of directions.
46:07 'Cause I was like, but sometimes that self-seriousness
46:11 made it more fun at certain moments
46:14 because of how serious it was taking itself.
46:16 Yeah, and it's sometimes that there's some missing beat,
46:20 especially when the girl got hit by the bus
46:22 and it just cuts to like, he's at home.
46:24 And she's like, I don't wanna talk to anyone.
46:25 And she's just like out of a shower.
46:27 I'm like, what was the missing?
46:28 There's like, I feel like something must've transpired here
46:30 that was very important.
46:31 - Stuff left on the cutting room floor maybe.
46:34 - Yeah, it feels like it was trimmed down
46:35 to keep it that tight 90 minute supernatural thriller.
46:40 - And it was tight.
46:41 It was a very tight, it didn't drag.
46:43 It really kept moving.
46:44 And we had a lot of characters to get through,
46:46 a lot of deaths to have, and it did keep that pace up.
46:49 But I'm with you that there was some,
46:52 I think there would have,
46:53 I would have felt more for Devin's character
46:56 if I saw him feeling for anybody
46:58 or taking any moments to grieve.
47:00 We also spent some time with his parents
47:02 or with people's parents,
47:04 but then even his best friend's parents
47:06 that didn't come back into play or anything like that.
47:08 And I think that there were some emotional beats to be had.
47:11 Did you feel like after watching this,
47:13 oh, this could be a whole franchise?
47:15 Like, were you like, oh, I'm excited to see the next one?
47:18 - Yeah, I mean, I think the next one,
47:21 I decided to see it for the set pieces,
47:23 not necessarily like unpacking lore or something like that.
47:27 But I imagine that they probably get more money per movie
47:30 and they could go crazier and bigger
47:33 and more inventive and wackier with the set pieces.
47:36 'Cause there is a bit of a wackiness to this movie.
47:39 And I can only imagine that,
47:40 oh, if you get a sequel, you get more money.
47:42 You could even put crazier machinations together
47:45 of what weird contraptions death pulls together
47:48 to take down these teenagers.
47:50 - I'm with you, but then at the same time,
47:51 you like, the bigger the things,
47:53 the less you were liking the movie.
47:56 - It was because the character stuff
47:59 was becoming less interesting.
48:01 At first I was, that's what I mean by the,
48:05 because it was taking itself so serious,
48:07 but I wasn't really enjoying what they were doing with it.
48:10 Like, I thought the actors were good, for the most part.
48:13 I thought the actors were good.
48:15 And the, but because I wasn't engaged,
48:19 I just found the stuff about the characters
48:21 like so questionable and a little bit corny
48:24 that I wasn't as invested in what was happening.
48:26 - But not the set pieces, yeah.
48:28 - But in the first half, I was actually like really into it.
48:30 And I thought they, I think it was because the potential
48:34 for something really interesting,
48:36 especially for the Devin Sawal character,
48:38 was presented so early on, like something very gripping,
48:42 instead of it just turning into a plot mechanic
48:45 where cops are chasing after him
48:47 and I'm the guy figuring it out.
48:48 Like, this is something that could like drive a guy,
48:51 and they would sometimes say it, you know,
48:52 like you're losing your mind,
48:53 but I think they really could have played more into that
48:56 of people turning on him, him going crazy,
48:59 and that really working against him
49:00 to the point where he's trying to solve all these things.
49:02 I thought the paranoia and intensity of him
49:05 could have like ramped up, and even the connection,
49:09 like his deterioration or whatever
49:10 could have been going further.
49:12 I don't really know what direction,
49:13 I just thought that they had so much potential for him,
49:15 and then it became such a missing element to me
49:18 where he was not really,
49:21 he would just be like kind of bummed if someone died.
49:23 - Yeah, I know what you mean, like the stakes,
49:24 they set it up so the stakes were very high,
49:26 and it could have been way higher had, you know,
49:29 they arrested him, had him in a holding cell,
49:32 and then somebody dies, they realize it's not him,
49:34 and then he has to get them on his team
49:36 and convince everybody, whatever it is.
49:39 There was different directions I thought
49:40 that it was gonna go in as well,
49:42 and I suppose that they could do that in a sequel
49:44 or the third one or the fourth one.
49:45 - I thought the story could have just been more,
49:47 the story itself could have been more intense
49:50 instead of just having like big elaborate set pieces.
49:53 So yeah, I mean, overall, I still had fun with it,
49:55 and I wanna see the sequels, I do,
49:57 I would like to see the sequels,
49:59 and I think that they probably just become more fun.
50:02 I think the third one has something to do
50:03 with a rollercoaster.
50:04 - Do you have any idea if this is known as the best one?
50:07 - I have no clue.
50:08 I know people must like the second one
50:10 since they made like four or five or six,
50:13 there's like quite a few, I don't know how many there are.
50:15 - And didn't you just tell me
50:16 that they're making another one?
50:18 - I saw a billboard for it, yeah.
50:20 So I was like, okay.
50:22 - Wow, I've-- - I think it's about time
50:23 we knock this off our list since we've had it on for months.
50:26 - Yeah, I missed this entire franchise.
50:28 I really missed the whole thing,
50:29 and you didn't even know that Devon was in it.
50:31 - No, I didn't even realize that was him on the cut,
50:33 'cause I know old man, older man Devon Sawa
50:36 from like the "Chucky" show.
50:38 - You called him old.
50:39 - Old man, elderly man, senior citizen Devon Sawa.
50:42 - This movie's been out for 23 years.
50:44 - He's a cut elderly guy.
50:46 He had a shirt, have you seen "Chucky"?
50:49 - Mm-mm.
50:50 - He's in "Chucky," he's great, he's cut, he's ripped.
50:53 - Hmm, all right.
50:54 - You know him?
50:56 - Do I know him?
50:56 - Yeah.
50:58 - Personally?
50:58 - Yeah.
50:59 - Mm-mm.
51:00 - You're not friends with him?
51:01 I thought you were, the way you talk about him
51:02 makes it sound like you have a friendship with him.
51:03 - It's very close.
51:04 Yeah, we've known each other since we were little kids.
51:07 - Oh, okay.
51:08 - Yeah.
51:09 - Have you seen his body?
51:10 - I call him Debbie.
51:10 - You call him Daddy Debbie?
51:11 - I call him Daddy Debbie, yeah.
51:14 Do you know him, have you seen his body?
51:16 Normal follow-up questions.
51:18 He did a good job in this,
51:19 but I do think that his character
51:21 could have been a little bit stronger
51:22 with exactly the note that you gave,
51:24 which is feeling the loss.
51:29 - And I didn't believe the chemistry
51:31 between him and Leigh Chick either.
51:34 - I've seen her in a ton of things too.
51:36 - Yeah.
51:37 - Trying to think of what, it's not "Legally Blonde,"
51:41 but something like that.
51:43 Did you recognize her?
51:45 - Yeah, I have no idea what she's saying.
51:47 - Yeah, I can't pull her right now.
51:48 - I can't pull her, but I'm like, yeah,
51:50 I've seen her a billion things.
51:51 - You guys at home will let me know what it is,
51:53 and I'll be kicking myself later.
51:55 It'll be another "Triple H" situation.
51:57 Still can't believe I didn't pull that.
51:58 Any other burning thoughts?
52:01 - No, I mean, it's pretty simple,
52:03 just elaborating more on the same shit I've been saying,
52:06 is that, yeah, if it just had,
52:08 if the characters, not even that it needs to have
52:10 like a bunch of depth,
52:12 but if they just had more personality to the characters
52:16 instead of just one notes,
52:18 then I think that would have made me care more
52:21 about when they're gonna die,
52:22 'cause I would find myself itching to like,
52:24 let's kill off someone else.
52:26 I wanna get to another set piece where someone dies.
52:28 - I feel like I maybe dug this more than you did.
52:30 - Probably, it's cool, it's rare.
52:32 - Is it? - Yeah.
52:33 - I feel like I dig almost everything.
52:35 - I think I tend to like things more than you.
52:38 Generally, when we're done.
52:39 Actually, I don't know.
52:40 - I think I like things more than you.
52:42 No, I really don't know, but I thought that,
52:44 the more, I think this is one of those movies,
52:46 the more you think about it, the less it really works.
52:48 So it's like, I just gotta kinda let myself,
52:51 I enjoyed it while I watched it.
52:54 - I would say that too.
52:54 - Yeah. - Yeah.
52:55 - Okay, well, that's it.
52:57 That's our final destination.
52:59 Let us know if you want us
53:00 to have another final destination.
53:02 Perhaps a final destination two, three, four, five, six,
53:07 as long as they go.
53:09 Don't forget, like, comment, subscribe, be a patron,
53:11 be a super sexy, oh no, no, we already decided,
53:15 super sexy. - Sexy.
53:17 Rejects. - Rejects.
53:18 And I tell 'em all thanks?
53:22 - Yeah. - Okay, bye.
53:23 (gentle music)
53:27 (upbeat music)
