00:00:00 Citizens of the Reject Nation, we, and by we,
00:00:04 I mean the real Aaron Alexander, give this man a follow,
00:00:07 are here to return for the follow-up film,
00:00:10 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Out of the Shadows.
00:00:15 Now, I know we weren't the biggest fans
00:00:19 of the prior installment to this one.
00:00:22 We were not.
00:00:23 But there are things we appreciated though, right?
00:00:24 There are things we appreciated about it.
00:00:26 - Yeah, yeah.
00:00:27 - Yeah, I think I appreciated it a little bit more
00:00:28 than you, I think.
00:00:29 - You know I appreciated it.
00:00:31 - I didn't hate it, I just thought it was aggressively made.
00:00:33 There's some things, there's some nice things.
00:00:35 - For sure, for sure.
00:00:36 The common thing that I've heard people say
00:00:37 is that the follow-up, this one, is a better one.
00:00:39 So, I feel like we should watch it,
00:00:42 go in with an open mind, and judge for ourselves
00:00:45 if we like it more than the last one.
00:00:47 We'll see, we just gotta be honest at the end of the day.
00:00:49 We gotta be honest.
00:00:50 But ladies and gentlemen, do you prefer this one?
00:00:52 Leave it down in the comments below.
00:00:54 Yes, this is one of those things,
00:00:55 Aaron has never seen this one.
00:00:57 - I've never seen this.
00:00:58 I'm pretty sure I did see this one time.
00:01:01 - At this time?
00:01:02 - Uh, yes.
00:01:04 (laughing)
00:01:05 I don't know the plot at all.
00:01:07 (laughing)
00:01:08 No, I'm like, yep, don't know.
00:01:09 If I can give a slight spoiler.
00:01:11 But I feel like it's because I saw it
00:01:14 in a compilation of Honest Trailers,
00:01:16 that there is a sky beam in this movie.
00:01:17 - Oh, there is, okay, okay.
00:01:20 The last one ripped off the Spider-Man movie,
00:01:22 but this one's gonna rip off every other compilation.
00:01:25 - Who?
00:01:25 - Awesome.
00:01:26 - Yeah, we'll see.
00:01:27 - Who knows?
00:01:28 But ladies and gentlemen,
00:01:29 we're off to a great start.
00:01:30 Leave a like on this video.

00:01:49 Let's get to it, people.
00:01:51 (upbeat music)
00:01:53 (water bubbling)
00:01:56 - Did they do that in the first one?
00:02:02 - I don't think so.
00:02:03 No, we got some ninja stars in the opening.
00:02:05 Okay, I like that.
00:02:06 Off to a good start.
00:02:07 All right, getting creative.
00:02:08 - It's better, guys.
00:02:09 - It's a better movie already.
00:02:11 - It's better.
00:02:11 (laughing)
00:02:12 - 10 out of 10.
00:02:13 (laughing)
00:02:15 (triumphant music)
00:02:17 - Oh, there they are.
00:02:18 - The turtles.
00:02:19 - Fellas, it's go time.
00:02:21 - Turtles on the top.
00:02:23 (grunting)
00:02:25 (thudding)
00:02:27 (grunting)
00:02:30 (laughing)
00:02:32 - What happened to turtle formation?
00:02:34 - I thought you said squirrel formation.
00:02:36 - Why would he say squirrel formation?
00:02:38 What's squirrel formation?
00:02:40 - What is squirrel?
00:02:41 (laughing)
00:02:44 - Yay, we're starting with them.
00:02:45 Yay.
00:02:46 (cheering)
00:02:48 Yeah.
00:02:49 Cool.
00:02:52 (cheering)
00:02:55 - Donnie.
00:02:58 - Here we go.
00:02:59 - That was a really fun opening.
00:03:02 - I like this.
00:03:03 - It was a really fun opening.
00:03:04 - Yeah, man.
00:03:05 - Pizza, steal it.
00:03:08 - Yeah.
00:03:09 - See you next week.
00:03:10 - Love how that delivery man is just used
00:03:12 to delivering the pizza that way.
00:03:14 - Right.
00:03:14 (laughing)
00:03:15 - Gotta show up at this corner every night.
00:03:17 - Let's get that boxer Mikey.
00:03:21 - Wow.
00:03:22 - That's a whole reintroduction.
00:03:23 - Right, this was a totally different tone.
00:03:24 What the hell?
00:03:25 I love this.
00:03:26 - How are you guys not ruining the pizza?
00:03:34 - Right.
00:03:35 - I feel like it's just gonna get smushed.
00:03:37 - It's gonna go everywhere.
00:03:39 - How is the cheese staying in place?
00:03:40 (laughing)
00:03:42 - You got some adhesive on the bottom of that box?
00:03:44 What's going on here?
00:03:45 - Two points coming up, shoot it.
00:03:46 - Shoot the ball.
00:03:47 (cheering)
00:03:50 - Yes.
00:03:52 - This already feels way more like the Turtles.
00:03:54 - Right, a million times better instantly.
00:03:56 - Bessie's in the house right here.
00:03:57 Anyone can sit down there.
00:03:58 - We saved the city.
00:04:00 We should be on the Jumbotron, not in it.
00:04:02 - Fair point.
00:04:03 - He has a point.
00:04:04 - Fair point, ref.
00:04:05 - Along with his army of enforcers,
00:04:07 the Foot Clan, Shredder ruled our streets
00:04:11 until one day from out of the shadows
00:04:13 stepped a beacon of hope.
00:04:15 - Who's gonna get the credit?
00:04:17 (coughing)
00:04:17 - He was just a humble cameraman.
00:04:19 - Oh, this guy.
00:04:20 - No way.
00:04:21 (laughing)
00:04:22 - Single-handedly battled Shredder,
00:04:24 locking him up behind bars.
00:04:26 - No what?
00:04:28 - That's not the Shredder from the first one.
00:04:30 - Later this week, we'll receive an honorary key
00:04:32 to the city.
00:04:33 Please welcome Vern the Falcon.
00:04:37 - Oh, what a bunch of bullshit.
00:04:39 - Wow.
00:04:40 - You changed, man.
00:04:42 You changed.
00:04:43 - You sold out.
00:04:43 - You sold out, bro.
00:04:44 (laughing)
00:04:46 - Dude, the Turtle's under the bus.
00:04:48 - Well, truth is, Jill, I actually had help
00:04:51 from a couple of friends.
00:04:52 - No way, he's totally gonna give us props.
00:04:54 - No, he's not.
00:04:55 - He's not.
00:04:56 - Thunder and lightning.
00:04:58 - Ah, you suck.
00:04:59 - You know we couldn't take credit
00:05:00 for bringing down Shredder.
00:05:02 Vern's just sticking to the arrangement we made with him.
00:05:04 - What's the point of doing something
00:05:05 if you don't get credit?
00:05:06 (laughing)
00:05:08 - God, I'm only in it for the glory.
00:05:09 God.
00:05:10 - Hold on, be careful with that.
00:05:12 That's my pea shooter.
00:05:12 - Okay, hold on, headshot, straight headshot.
00:05:14 - Oh, you got this.
00:05:15 - You got this.
00:05:17 (laughing)
00:05:18 - I'm gonna be an example to all of you.
00:05:21 One man.
00:05:23 - Nice aim.
00:05:23 (laughing)
00:05:25 - It's a ninja aim.
00:05:26 - Right.
00:05:27 - You got this.
00:05:28 - Can also--
00:05:31 (laughing)
00:05:33 - Why is no one trying to wipe it off?
00:05:35 - Right.
00:05:36 - Or tell him. - No one's telling him.
00:05:36 - Right.
00:05:37 - I'm at Grand Central Station
00:05:38 staking out Dr. Baxter Stockman.
00:05:40 - Oh. - Baxter Stockman.
00:05:41 - He graduated MIT at 15, he's got 134 patents.
00:05:44 He's the lead scientist for TCRI.
00:05:47 - Tyler Perry.
00:05:47 - Look, I think Baxter Stockman is working with Shredder.
00:05:50 - Shredder.
00:05:51 - Do you need us there?
00:05:52 - Nah, Baxter is a softie.
00:05:54 - She's like a spy.
00:05:55 - Right.
00:05:56 - CIA agent.
00:05:57 - Super spy.
00:05:58 - Wanna use it to try and hack into Baxter's emails.
00:06:00 - Your watch needs to be within three feet of his device.
00:06:03 iPad, iPhone, whatever.
00:06:05 - Here you are, sir.
00:06:07 - Yeah, I'm vibing with this one much more already.
00:06:09 - Yeah, instantly.
00:06:10 - We'll see how it goes.
00:06:11 - Right, right.
00:06:12 - We're currently-- - It's still pretty early.
00:06:13 - Currently vibing with it better already, yeah.
00:06:14 (laughing)
00:06:16 - You don't know who I am.
00:06:17 - You're Baxter Stockman, truly inspirational for me.
00:06:20 I'm so sorry, I'm just like, I'm a nerd.
00:06:22 - No, please.
00:06:23 - I'm a nerd.
00:06:25 - She's got a Madea fetish.
00:06:28 - It's the difference between like Lord of the Rings
00:06:30 and Harry Potter or Ted Talks and--
00:06:32 - Comic Con, yeah.
00:06:34 (laughing)
00:06:36 - The package is shipping later tonight?
00:06:42 - We'll make sure they're tracking it
00:06:43 every step of the way.
00:06:45 - I just have to take this really quick,
00:06:47 it's my boyfriend, I'm sorry.
00:06:48 - Oh, you have a boyfriend.
00:06:49 (laughing)
00:06:51 - All right, girl, come on, thank you.
00:06:55 (laughing)
00:06:57 - Is this Halloween?
00:06:58 What's going on here?
00:06:59 (alarm beeping)
00:07:04 - Oh, is she gonna do action hero change?
00:07:07 - Okay.
00:07:08 - Action hero change?
00:07:09 - Put the yellow jacket on.
00:07:11 - I think she's jacking the outfit she just bought, right?
00:07:14 - No, she has to put her official suit on.
00:07:17 Okay.
00:07:18 - It'll perfectly fit, don't worry.
00:07:20 (laughing)
00:07:22 - Take the wig off?
00:07:24 Okay, school girl.
00:07:27 Yep.
00:07:29 - Jennifer's body.
00:07:31 - I was just thinking the same thing.
00:07:33 Yep.
00:07:34 - Look everybody, I got a cowboy.
00:07:36 - Oh my gosh.
00:07:37 - Oh my gosh.
00:07:38 - Wow.
00:07:39 - Peek-a-boo.
00:07:41 - I love how that guy just let his hat get stolen.
00:07:43 - Right.
00:07:44 Oh, she's hot.
00:07:45 (laughing)
00:07:47 - Oh, Lord.
00:07:48 - Defense!
00:07:49 Defense!
00:07:51 - Don't let the pizza slide into the court.
00:07:53 You're gonna break an ankle.
00:07:54 - Mikey, Mikey.
00:07:56 - Mikey, that's the last slice, come on.
00:07:58 (laughing)
00:08:01 Someone's gonna eat shit on that pizza.
00:08:04 Ooh, ooh.
00:08:04 (thudding)
00:08:05 Oh!
00:08:06 Run, mother.
00:08:08 - Oh, no way, Courtney eats pizza on my Nike.
00:08:11 It's pizza.
00:08:12 Look at it, look at my shoe.
00:08:13 - Oh my God, it's a Nike advertisement.
00:08:15 - Pizza on my Nike.
00:08:16 - Hey, man.
00:08:17 - That's CGI sliced.
00:08:18 - I'm sorry?
00:08:19 - We're just gonna have to act like
00:08:20 that's a normal thing that happens
00:08:22 in professional basketball?
00:08:23 - We're gonna have to find a new spot
00:08:25 to watch the game now, Mikey.
00:08:27 Mikey!
00:08:28 - I mean, they're not gonna know for a show.
00:08:30 It's Day of the Dead.
00:08:32 - Day of the Dead?
00:08:32 - It's like the one night of the year where we fit in.
00:08:34 - Mikey.
00:08:35 - We're ninjas, we live in the shadows.
00:08:37 Let's go.
00:08:38 - Let's go.
00:08:41 - I just really feel like,
00:08:42 well, I'm not just saying it to say it,
00:08:44 the personalities just feel a lot more boisterous.
00:08:46 - Yeah.
00:08:47 'Cause they're actually the leads of the movie this time.
00:08:50 - And look how real that looks.
00:08:53 - Right.
00:08:54 (upbeat music)
00:08:56 - Transformers.
00:09:00 - Ah, cool.
00:09:02 - Baxter is working with the Foot Clan.
00:09:04 Shredder is being transported to a prison
00:09:06 in upstate New York tonight.
00:09:08 And the Foot Clan are planning on hitting the convoy.
00:09:10 - Goddamn Foot Clan.
00:09:12 - He'll be free again.
00:09:13 - Who, Donnie?
00:09:15 - Shredder.
00:09:18 - The Shredder.
00:09:19 - Definitely getting soft reboot vibes out of this.
00:09:22 - 100%.
00:09:23 'Cause yeah, they took themselves so seriously
00:09:25 and they're trying to be all dark and gritty
00:09:26 with that first one.
00:09:27 - Yeah.
00:09:28 - Rather than embracing it with like the weird sci-fi tech
00:09:30 and like actually casting an actor
00:09:31 for Shredder this time around.
00:09:33 - Babes.
00:09:35 - Oh, it's that, the wrestler guy.
00:09:37 - Seamus?
00:09:38 - Yes.
00:09:39 (laughing)
00:09:41 - Is this a different actor than the first one?
00:09:48 - It's 100% a different actor.
00:09:50 We never even saw his face in the first one.
00:09:51 - Yeah, we did, remember?
00:09:52 - Kind of.
00:09:53 - Like it was kind of, it was in the shadows,
00:09:54 but they're like, "Oh, we're not too sure about this."
00:09:55 'Cause he actually, I read something.
00:09:57 Oh, it's Arrow.
00:10:00 - What up, big daddy lawbreaker?
00:10:04 (laughing)
00:10:05 - He's the people's champ of sack right here.
00:10:07 (laughing)
00:10:10 - You have meditated for nearly 24 hours.
00:10:14 In 10 seconds, you will reach Nirvana.
00:10:17 (roaring)
00:10:19 (screaming)
00:10:22 - Slow down, does somebody want to explain?
00:10:27 - Sensei, the Foot Clan are attempting
00:10:29 to make Shredder out of custody.
00:10:30 - The effects look so much better.
00:10:33 - Especially on him.
00:10:34 They did a remodel on Splinter there.
00:10:37 - Okay, guys, don't get too excited.
00:10:38 It's still a work in progress.
00:10:40 - Oh, bumblebee.
00:10:44 (laughing)
00:10:46 - Turtle tank.
00:10:47 (engine revving)
00:10:49 - All these wires are still bunched.
00:10:56 - Cool tech upgrade.
00:10:57 - Yeah, with the sewer cap on top, I love that.
00:11:00 - Don't recline when they-
00:11:01 - Johnny!
00:11:02 (alarm beeping)
00:11:05 (explosion)
00:11:07 - Neat, Donatello actually doing some cool inventions.
00:11:12 - You got 32 counts of first degree murder, hot damn.
00:11:16 You, my friend, seriously need a hobby.
00:11:19 I myself am a hockey guy.
00:11:21 - Hey, Mr. Shredder, big fan of your work,
00:11:26 especially your early stuff.
00:11:28 My name is B-Bop.
00:11:30 This is Rocksteady.
00:11:31 - Rocksteady.
00:11:33 - World works in mysterious ways, don't it, Shredder?
00:11:36 Now you get to spend the rest of your life behind bars,
00:11:39 or not.
00:11:40 - I feel like he's pitching up his voice a bit
00:11:42 to sound younger.
00:11:43 - Stephen Amell?
00:11:44 - Yeah.
00:11:45 - Definitely.
00:11:46 He's got a nicer guy tone.
00:11:47 - Coming up on our right and our left.
00:11:49 - Hit it, come on, man, go, go, go, go, go!
00:11:54 - Damn, this feels like GI Joe.
00:11:58 - Oh my God.
00:12:02 (car crashing)
00:12:04 - Damn. - Oh, cool.
00:12:05 - That's pretty dope.
00:12:06 - Man, they really blew those cars up, huh?
00:12:09 - For real.
00:12:10 - That's some real destruction right there.
00:12:12 - Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!
00:12:16 (car crashing)
00:12:19 - Damn, this is an effective-ass car chasing.
00:12:21 - We're being ambushed, heading north on 87.
00:12:25 We need immediate backup.
00:12:26 - Oh, how fun.
00:12:30 - This is awesome.
00:12:31 - I can't wait to participate
00:12:32 in a breakout heist like this, come on.
00:12:34 Come on.
00:12:36 - With the three-wheeled car motorcycles, come on.
00:12:38 This is awesome.
00:12:39 I'm having a lot more fun.
00:12:40 - Oh yeah, this is way more fun.
00:12:42 - Shotgun!
00:12:47 Where are the shells?
00:12:48 They're in the bag!
00:12:49 What the hell are they doing in the bag?
00:12:51 - Creating an obstacle for you.
00:12:53 - I hope when he said, "Where were the shells?"
00:12:56 That's when the turtles show up.
00:12:57 I would've liked that.
00:12:58 - They're trying to make him a little bit
00:13:00 like Bruce Willis in "Die Hard."
00:13:01 Try and make him John McClane-ish.
00:13:03 - I can see that, I can see it.
00:13:05 Ah, the turtles!
00:13:08 There are the shells.
00:13:09 Oh my God.
00:13:16 - Sweet sauce.
00:13:17 - That is deadly.
00:13:19 - You almost killed Casey.
00:13:20 - Right.
00:13:21 - Nunchucks giganticus!
00:13:23 - This is like a serious "Transformers" vibe.
00:13:28 (laughing)
00:13:31 - Say hello to my little friend.
00:13:36 - We have a ninja truck.
00:13:38 Pretty cool effects.
00:13:39 - Pretty cool effects.
00:13:40 - Yeah.
00:13:41 - I don't like those guys.
00:13:48 - Why not?
00:13:52 - Guys, they're coming back.
00:13:56 - Enough!
00:13:58 - It's time to take out the trash.
00:13:59 - Turtle style.
00:14:00 - Let's go.
00:14:01 Let's go, Raph.
00:14:02 - Let's go.
00:14:03 - Yeah!
00:14:05 - That's how I roll.
00:14:11 That's how you roll.
00:14:13 - Let's go!
00:14:16 - I surf in a motorcycle.
00:14:21 - That's so awesome.
00:14:22 - Move in, get him to the extraction point.
00:14:24 (motorcycle engine revving)
00:14:28 - This is a well-constructed car chase.
00:14:32 - Yeah.
00:14:34 It's a very entertaining action scene.
00:14:36 - Kinetic, but I can keep up with it too.
00:14:38 - Yeah, exactly.
00:14:40 So everything's going on.
00:14:41 It's not too muddled.
00:14:42 - Get back there!
00:14:48 Secure the prisoners!
00:14:49 - How is that safe for him to be there with?
00:14:55 (men grunting)
00:14:58 - Shoot him!
00:14:59 - What took you so long to shoot?
00:15:04 - Right.
00:15:05 - Hi.
00:15:11 - Good stunt work here.
00:15:15 Look at this, man.
00:15:16 This is good.
00:15:18 - Right.
00:15:19 - I can't get over it.
00:15:21 - I feel like they got an entirely different
00:15:22 creative team for this one.
00:15:23 They must've.
00:15:24 - We have to teleport Shredder earlier.
00:15:26 - What you said.
00:15:27 - Yes.
00:15:27 - Teleport Shredder?
00:15:29 - I'm not going to question it.
00:15:31 - Yeah, we got that tech now.
00:15:33 - Locking on.
00:15:36 - One shot is all you got.
00:15:38 - Do not miss your chance.
00:15:40 - Initiate.
00:15:41 - Take the shot, Mikey!
00:15:42 - What?
00:15:46 - Yeah, let's go full sci-fi.
00:15:49 I'm down.
00:15:50 - Teleportation abilities.
00:15:54 - This is not very realistic for my turtles movie.
00:15:57 - That's right, yes.
00:16:07 I remember that now.
00:16:08 Yep.
00:16:09 That's yes.
00:16:10 - Whoa.
00:16:11 - Does it matter?
00:16:12 - Oh my God.
00:16:13 I don't remember looking this disturbing.
00:16:15 - Of all the ways you'd like to kill me,
00:16:17 but that would require you out thinking me.
00:16:20 And no one, no thing is smarter
00:16:23 than the Krabs.
00:16:24 - I do not remember this design at all.
00:16:28 - It's so slimy.
00:16:31 - You and your buddy, Dr. Stockman,
00:16:33 found something of mine.
00:16:35 - Oh my God, it's so gross.
00:16:37 - Upon entering your atmosphere,
00:16:40 it broke apart into three pieces.
00:16:43 - Sweet.
00:16:44 - Another is in a museum in New York.
00:16:46 - Of course it is.
00:16:47 - Third is in the Brazilian rainforest.
00:16:50 - And rainforest.
00:16:52 - Museum, rainforest, two locations.
00:16:54 You won't usually have those.
00:16:56 - It will open a portal
00:16:58 through which I can bring my war machine,
00:17:00 the Technodrome, to Earth.
00:17:02 - Okay, okay.
00:17:04 - This is definitely an early 2010s plot.
00:17:07 - Oh yeah.
00:17:08 - What is he?
00:17:09 He's an alien, right?
00:17:10 - Grang, friggin.
00:17:12 - It will solve all your problems with those pests.
00:17:15 Push me back in.
00:17:20 (grunting)
00:17:22 - Oh, his eyeball like popped out of it.
00:17:24 - I do like how uncomfortably disturbing Grang looks.
00:17:31 It's real repulsive, man.
00:17:33 - It's all slimy and like drippy too.
00:17:37 - Yeah.
00:17:38 - Kind of residue from a teleportation event.
00:17:41 - Yeah, teleportation event residue, man.
00:17:43 It's the worst.
00:17:44 - Totally plug and play.
00:17:49 - Perfect.
00:17:50 I'll go check it out.
00:17:51 - We'll go with.
00:17:52 Operating support.
00:17:53 - Even the turtle sewer hideout is brighter.
00:17:54 - I want hourly updates from Homeland Security
00:17:57 and Border Patrol.
00:17:58 - Make it on the half hour.
00:18:00 - Excuse me?
00:18:01 - This is my investigation now.
00:18:03 Bureau Chief Vincent, organized crime.
00:18:05 - Sweet.
00:18:06 Two female lead detectives?
00:18:08 This movie was woke before woke existed.
00:18:12 - Ninjas on motorcycles just,
00:18:17 they come zipping past and they're coming at us.
00:18:19 - A giant.
00:18:20 - It's taking me a long time to get acclimated
00:18:26 to his performance.
00:18:27 - You're so used to seeing him as like arrows.
00:18:31 - They're like brooding.
00:18:32 - So goofy.
00:18:34 - Thanks for your statement, Jones.
00:18:37 - That's Officer Jones.
00:18:39 And I'm going to be a detective someday.
00:18:41 - What did you say?
00:18:46 - Will they infuse the hockey element of Casey into this?
00:18:50 - I hope so.
00:18:51 - So you two idiots have a favorite bar.
00:18:55 - Yeah, they're not gonna be stupid enough to go back there.
00:18:58 - Yeah, they will.
00:18:59 - Of course they will.
00:19:00 - Yeah, they are.
00:19:01 (car engine revving)
00:19:03 (laughing)
00:19:04 - My man.
00:19:05 - My man.
00:19:07 - Do they not mutate in this movie?
00:19:08 Do you know?
00:19:10 - I think they do.
00:19:11 - Here you go guys.
00:19:12 - How special.
00:19:13 - Oh, I love this guy.
00:19:13 - He doesn't have time.
00:19:14 - Sighted pickles.
00:19:15 - Now are these pickles untraceable?
00:19:17 - Those phones are hard to track and shredder himself.
00:19:19 - Oh, he looks familiar.
00:19:21 - He's in 30 Rock and Brooklyn Nine-Nine and John Wick.
00:19:24 - I'm tired of being someone else's errand boy.
00:19:26 - Maybe we must start our own foot clan.
00:19:28 I mean, honestly, how hard could it be?
00:19:30 - Sweet shot.
00:19:32 Oh my God.
00:19:35 - Gone with the Mecca suit.
00:19:36 - Thank God.
00:19:40 - He's not looking for partners.
00:19:41 - I'm looking for errand boys.
00:19:44 (cash register dinging)
00:19:45 - We could work with that.
00:19:46 - I'm looking for turtles.
00:19:50 - Also, I feel like the music tracks in this
00:19:56 fit the track way better.
00:19:58 - Yeah.
00:19:59 - Last one, they kind of felt a little forced at times.
00:20:01 This actually vibes well with the movie.
00:20:04 - Adapted well to the vibe of the scenes.
00:20:07 - I agree.
00:20:08 - Do not let this setback distract you.
00:20:11 As long as you keep the team unified,
00:20:14 you shall always succeed.
00:20:17 That's the lesson.
00:20:19 - You sure those guys didn't come through here?
00:20:21 - Hey pal, I don't know what you're talking about.
00:20:24 - Drinking on the job.
00:20:25 - I love this song.
00:20:27 - And listen.
00:20:29 - Hey!
00:20:31 - Whoa, whoa, whoa, what are you doing?
00:20:32 - Ah, you know what?
00:20:33 Nevermind.
00:20:34 Has a scratch on it.
00:20:35 - Damn it!
00:20:36 - Holy crap, look at the skills of this guy.
00:20:38 - I slipped him cell phones, that's all I know.
00:20:40 - Oh, and I imagine a responsible business person
00:20:42 wouldn't sell hardware without a means by which
00:20:44 to track.
00:20:45 I have a GPS.
00:20:46 - This guy's caving in so easily.
00:20:48 - Right.
00:20:49 - I just realized the vanilla ice thing is a,
00:20:52 it's a fun Easter egg because vanilla ice
00:20:54 is in the second 90s movie.
00:20:56 - Yeah, and you did Go Ninja.
00:20:59 - Yeah.
00:21:00 - I feel like if I saw Megan Fox in person,
00:21:12 I would explode.
00:21:13 (laughing)
00:21:16 I would just spontaneously combust,
00:21:18 it would just happen, I know.
00:21:19 - Just would freak out.
00:21:20 - I would be like, she's so hot.
00:21:22 (imitates explosion)
00:21:25 - But those four brothers are still out there.
00:21:28 We need to create soldiers that could defeat them
00:21:30 with a single blow and this will help us do that.
00:21:32 - Oh my gosh, Shredder actually has a personal fear
00:21:36 against the turtles stopping him.
00:21:38 - Yes.
00:21:39 (laughing)
00:21:42 - I completely thought Shredder was not in this movie.
00:21:45 - Yeah.
00:21:46 - Yeah.
00:21:47 - Yeah, I had no clue.
00:21:49 - But I like that he's actually a person in this one.
00:21:55 - Yeah.
00:21:56 - 'Cause I feel like this one, like,
00:21:57 outside of the Willow Nett thing,
00:21:58 I don't think you need to watch the first one
00:22:00 to get this one.
00:22:01 - Do it, this.
00:22:10 - This is when they be, okay, this makes sense.
00:22:13 - Yeah, they're not gonna keep him human,
00:22:14 they know what the people want.
00:22:16 (grunting)
00:22:18 - That sings, but not in a good way.
00:22:20 (grunting)
00:22:24 - Whoa, trippy visual.
00:22:27 - Ooh, mutation.
00:22:32 - Mutation, the key to our evolution.
00:22:35 - I wonder if they always start off as people.
00:22:38 Or most of the time.
00:22:39 - Whoa.
00:22:40 - Whoa.
00:22:41 - What is happening to us?
00:22:48 - This is like a body horror transformation.
00:22:50 - Whoa, this is weird.
00:22:52 (grunting)
00:22:54 - Wow, man, it's like full-on
00:22:58 horror movie monster transformation.
00:23:01 - This feels funny.
00:23:02 - Wouldn't your clothes just rip off at that point?
00:23:09 You gotta get like mutant-sized clothes for you.
00:23:12 - Hey, if the Hulk can keep it on, man, they can.
00:23:14 - You're not wrong about that.
00:23:16 - I knew it.
00:23:17 - He is a really smart cop.
00:23:20 - Inside every human, there's a dormant gene
00:23:24 which ties us to our animal ancestors.
00:23:26 - You're a rhinoceros.
00:23:28 - And you're a, I don't know what you are.
00:23:31 - Warthog.
00:23:32 - Mermaid.
00:23:35 (laughing)
00:23:38 (grunting)
00:23:40 - O'Neal.
00:23:41 Get that canister.
00:23:44 - Oh, smooth sliding.
00:23:50 - Yeah, get that mask on.
00:24:06 - This really does look like the G.I. Joe's movies.
00:24:09 - In some ways, too.
00:24:10 With the black and leather and stuff, yeah, I see it.
00:24:14 - Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:24:16 You guys don't really wanna do this again, right?
00:24:20 Doesn't it usually work out well?
00:24:21 - You should have given the turtles a heads up.
00:24:23 - Hit the turtle alarm.
00:24:25 - Ninjas. - Give us the ooze.
00:24:26 - Oh, he's using the hockey pucks
00:24:30 instead of the guns that he probably owns as a cop.
00:24:34 (laughing)
00:24:36 - Why is he resorting to this?
00:24:38 - 'Cause fan service.
00:24:47 - That hockey stick is really strong.
00:24:55 - Where'd he go?
00:25:02 (laughing)
00:25:05 - That was funny.
00:25:05 I'm having fun with the KC inclusion.
00:25:21 Simultaneously is one of the things
00:25:24 I feel the most tempted to criticize.
00:25:26 - Doesn't exactly make sense.
00:25:29 It's fun, but it's not tracking.
00:25:32 - KC Jones.
00:25:33 - Hey, whoa!
00:25:39 Get back here, get back here.
00:25:42 Do not eat us.
00:25:45 (laughing)
00:25:47 - They're my friends.
00:25:49 - Yeah, Donatello over there in the purple,
00:25:51 he's a tactical genius who is technically.
00:25:54 Raphael over there in the red,
00:25:57 he's like a big, cuddly teddy bear.
00:25:59 He's in the blue, fearless leader.
00:26:01 Silent, but deadly.
00:26:03 And I'm at lunch.
00:26:04 - Take a left turn.
00:26:05 Love this music with it.
00:26:07 - You have eyes on bebop and rocksteady?
00:26:09 - What do you care about those two?
00:26:10 - Well, let's just say that I have a vested interest
00:26:12 in bringing them to justice.
00:26:14 Grab Friday the 13th here and follow.
00:26:16 - Nice, nice.
00:26:17 - Nobody move.
00:26:18 - Don't move.
00:26:19 (laughing)
00:26:29 - Yeah, we've seen them around here before.
00:26:33 - Gotta go hard.
00:26:36 - Leaving you, KC Jones, it's all you, bro.
00:26:39 - You got it.
00:26:40 - Exactly.
00:26:41 (laughing)
00:26:43 (screaming)
00:26:45 - Giant rat, one, new guy, zero.
00:26:52 - You know, I was doing just fine.
00:26:56 Tracking bebop and rocksteady
00:26:57 and then you just T-boned my existence.
00:26:59 - It doesn't make sense why this person
00:27:01 of him would have a mask.
00:27:02 (laughing)
00:27:03 - You have a gun.
00:27:04 (laughing)
00:27:05 You're going up against these ninjas.
00:27:09 (laughing)
00:27:11 - Who are these guys?
00:27:15 - These four have done more for this city
00:27:17 than you will ever know,
00:27:19 or they will ever take credit for.
00:27:21 - They have not failed this city.
00:27:22 (laughing)
00:27:24 - The canister of purple louse is at police headquarters.
00:27:27 I'm bringing with me the next generation
00:27:29 of finely tuned combat soldiers.
00:27:31 - Oh, disgusting.
00:27:35 I've never been the biggest bebop and rocksteady.
00:27:38 - They're a little goopy.
00:27:41 - If the purple ooze can turn humans into animals,
00:27:44 if properly re-engineered.
00:27:45 Watch this, watch this.
00:27:47 - Oh, you could turn them into humans.
00:27:49 - It could turn us
00:27:50 into humans.
00:27:56 - Ew.
00:27:58 - Change back.
00:27:59 - No, man, you gotta embrace who you are.
00:28:01 - We don't need that kind of change.
00:28:02 - Okay, you're right.
00:28:04 - We're American heroes.
00:28:05 - They do look a lot better this time around.
00:28:08 - I know, they feel like real characters too.
00:28:09 - Yeah.
00:28:10 - You can't say a word of this to the others.
00:28:12 - Of course.
00:28:17 - All the ones that'd be eavesdropping.
00:28:19 - My God, it's gonna be a story of acceptance.
00:28:21 - Embrace who you are.
00:28:23 - It all started with the big bang.
00:28:25 - Well, I got a big bang for you.
00:28:27 (farting)
00:28:28 - Oh, that is the worst.
00:28:29 - Smash it.
00:28:30 - That's what we do.
00:28:31 (screaming)
00:28:33 - Ow.
00:28:35 - To be honest, they're a little annoying.
00:28:36 - I mean, is there a characters?
00:28:40 - Is it?
00:28:41 (laughing)
00:28:43 (dramatic music)
00:28:46 - Some of the designs do have this 90s aesthetic
00:28:54 that I like.
00:28:56 - We don't have to be stuck down here forever, you know?
00:28:58 - So Leo told Donnie to keep it a secret.
00:29:01 - Uh, no.
00:29:03 - Hold on.
00:29:04 - Who does he think he is?
00:29:05 - You did not think this through, my friend.
00:29:07 - What are the three most important traits of the ninja?
00:29:09 - Speed.
00:29:10 - Stealth.
00:29:14 - Trust.
00:29:16 - And honor.
00:29:17 - Where's the honor in keeping secrets from your brothers?
00:29:21 - Oh, we just resolve this immediately.
00:29:23 - We're addressing.
00:29:24 - I know what you're talking about.
00:29:26 - Wow.
00:29:27 - So now you're adding lion to the list.
00:29:28 - It's called compartmentalization of information.
00:29:31 - Well justified.
00:29:34 - If there's even a chance that ooze can make us human.
00:29:38 - It's about what people up there are willing to accept.
00:29:41 True acceptance only comes from within.
00:29:43 - Damn, he's an actual like leader.
00:29:46 - And what about Mikey?
00:29:49 He don't get a vote?
00:29:49 - There's only one vote that counts in this family, mine.
00:29:52 - That's not a real leader.
00:29:53 - He's gonna have to learn to work in unity with you.
00:29:56 - That's a dictator right there, man.
00:29:59 - You're benching me?
00:30:00 - Call it what you want.
00:30:01 - What I do.
00:30:02 - Sorry guys.
00:30:03 - Turtle division.
00:30:05 - From the data I just collected,
00:30:06 I'm surmising that what was inside this thing
00:30:09 may help Shredder open that portal to another dimension.
00:30:11 - Chitauri.
00:30:14 (laughing)
00:30:17 - Thanos.
00:30:18 - We can take the elevator shafts and vents.
00:30:20 We need you two to stay on the ground.
00:30:22 - I can't just walk right into police headquarters.
00:30:24 - What are you, chicken?
00:30:26 - What are you calling chicken, turtle?
00:30:28 - Ooh, such an insult.
00:30:30 - So we're breaking into police headquarters.
00:30:33 We need to find someone to sneak you guys past.
00:30:35 - I'm sorry, his performance is so weird.
00:30:39 (laughing)
00:30:41 I don't quite get what he's doing.
00:30:44 Am I just too familiar with him in interviews
00:30:49 and on Arrow, 'cause something about it feels so artificial?
00:30:54 - He's doing something.
00:30:56 - Yeah, it just doesn't feel real to me.
00:30:59 (laughing)
00:31:00 - We need to find Shredder.
00:31:02 - We're not doing a good concert.
00:31:04 - Sweet, does it go to something?
00:31:07 (laughing)
00:31:08 - It's just the city.
00:31:10 I'm still trying to figure out what Casey's role is in this.
00:31:14 Like, what is he adding to this equation
00:31:15 that the turtles couldn't do themselves?

00:48:22 was a much more appealing aesthetic all around
00:48:24 to just actually take in.
00:48:26 - A lot easier to follow.
00:48:28 - The last one had this weird, grimy blend
00:48:33 of trying to look really realistic.
00:48:36 And it just ultimately left for a dour tone or something.
00:48:41 It was never really approached naturally fun.
00:48:45 Whereas this, right off the bat,
00:48:48 had a much better pace and an energy
00:48:50 and felt authentically fun.
00:48:53 I wanna do my best to remove myself
00:48:56 from what a Ninja Turtles movie should be
00:49:01 and just go with, is this a decent movie or not?
00:49:06 And I felt that this ultimately was a decent movie.
00:49:09 And especially when you compare it to the last one,
00:49:10 it's a significant improvement.
00:49:13 Because even if you just look at it as its own film,
00:49:17 the things they talk about in the previous one
00:49:20 that are just throwaway lines
00:49:22 or are not really fleshed out,
00:49:24 where it comes to Ralph's anger,
00:49:25 they even talk about, Leo, you're the leader.
00:49:27 I never really got that sense in the last one.
00:49:31 But them as a family and all the things that they talk about
00:49:34 that are just throwaway lines,
00:49:36 they're actual plot points here
00:49:38 in character development for everyone.
00:49:40 So just as a film, it's a much better movie.
00:49:44 Not everything about it that I really love.
00:49:47 And there are a couple of things,
00:49:50 really just one thing in particular
00:49:52 that I preferred in the first one.
00:49:54 But yeah, those are my general thoughts on it.
00:49:58 - And what did you think about Krang?
00:50:03 - I thought Krang was visually interesting.
00:50:10 They made an effort to make him really grotesque and slimy.
00:50:15 But I think ultimately at the end of the day,
00:50:17 he was just a physical foil for them to fight
00:50:20 because they didn't really flesh him out.
00:50:22 He was literally in one scene in the beginning
00:50:24 and then the end fight, and that was it.
00:50:26 And the turtles only just learn about him
00:50:29 like a couple minutes before they fight.
00:50:31 - Right.
00:50:32 - Yeah.
00:50:33 - It's not this active threat
00:50:34 that they're trying to work to stop.
00:50:36 It's just like, oh, this is what's happening.
00:50:38 Okay, now we have to engage with this threat
00:50:40 that we just learned about.
00:50:41 So there's no personal connection towards it.
00:50:44 And they just are like, we have to stop it
00:50:46 because we're heroes and we're turtles.
00:50:47 And that's what we do.
00:50:49 - Which is my problem with the shredder fight
00:50:50 in the last movie.
00:50:51 - Yeah.
00:50:52 No personal stakes involved.
00:50:54 - Yeah, it's like they just have to fight shredder
00:50:56 and shredder is kind of personality-less in the last one.
00:51:00 - Also, the turtles never see shredder directly in this one.
00:51:03 - Really?
00:51:05 - Yeah, I don't think they saw him once.
00:51:07 - On the freeway.
00:51:08 - They didn't fight him.
00:51:10 - They didn't like get out of their car and fight him.
00:51:12 - Well, he was like, yeah, he was-
00:51:13 - But they saw him on top of the truck.
00:51:14 - Yeah, but he put in a whole suit.
00:51:16 - There's no, I get what you're saying.
00:51:18 There's no scene to scene with that.
00:51:20 I think, yeah, no,
00:51:22 I would have just been fine with a rematch
00:51:24 instead of this crank.
00:51:27 Like the crank fight felt very Transformers-esque
00:51:30 and had that vibe of, you know,
00:51:33 the washed together visuals of a bunch of the,
00:51:35 of the color palette of the scene,
00:51:37 but it still looked pretty cool.
00:51:39 Like I was surprised how I was actually enjoying
00:51:43 that sequence because normally the way
00:51:45 that the color aesthetic was would kind of put me off.
00:51:50 But that scene still had the,
00:51:53 I liked the shutter speed,
00:51:54 the motion effect that they had,
00:51:55 a lot of those locked off shots,
00:51:56 like the POV with Michelangelo skateboarding and whatnot.
00:52:00 So there were still some cool visuals
00:52:02 and a lot of it kind of did feel like
00:52:03 it was plucked out of an anime.
00:52:05 And I think Crane does look cool,
00:52:07 but man, the second they froze incapacitated Shredder,
00:52:12 I was like, that's a lame ass move.
00:52:14 They actually had a genuine buildup to this.
00:52:16 They had a real thing and they just gave him his helmet.
00:52:18 They literally just gave him his helmet.
00:52:20 - He looked surprisingly cool too.
00:52:23 And then immediately gonna freeze him and shove him.
00:52:25 - Yeah, that was bullshit.
00:52:26 - They didn't think that through.
00:52:27 - That was total bullshit.
00:52:29 - I will say, even though I wasn't personally invested
00:52:32 in the stakes of the turtles versus Crane,
00:52:34 I will say I liked that it was,
00:52:38 it wasn't about necessarily turtles versus Crane,
00:52:40 but more so their relationship with each other,
00:52:42 working together to stop this common threat.
00:52:45 And then coming together in that arc,
00:52:47 which is something I enjoyed.
00:52:48 - Yeah, there's an actual arc here with them.
00:52:51 I think they definitely swapped out the screen time
00:52:54 that they gave April on the last one
00:52:55 to actually give to the turtles,
00:52:57 because she is definitely relegated
00:52:59 to being just a supporting character.
00:53:01 - 100%.
00:53:02 - Nowhere near is any of this a personal journey
00:53:05 for her whatsoever.
00:53:07 - Strictly to service the turtles.
00:53:09 I almost forgot she was a reporter
00:53:11 until that thing in the very end.
00:53:12 - Yeah, it's true.
00:53:15 I actually, I appreciated the efforts
00:53:18 of the first movie doing that.
00:53:20 Not like it was my favorite thing in the world.
00:53:24 Like I said, I more appreciated the efforts.
00:53:26 And I like Megan Fox,
00:53:28 and I think that she plays off well with these guys.
00:53:31 So yeah, that was good.
00:53:34 Crane thing out of the way.
00:53:36 Yeah, the Crane thing definitely needs to improve.
00:53:41 That was my biggest thing that I wanted to harp on.
00:53:44 Okay, as a controversial figure,
00:53:48 Stephen Amell loves to put himself in.
00:53:50 His performance here,
00:53:56 I could not quite pinpoint what was so odd about it.
00:53:59 And I couldn't tell if it was just my own subjective,
00:54:04 I mean, it is all subjective,
00:54:05 but I couldn't tell if it was just what I...
00:54:09 I'm normally pretty good at divorcing myself
00:54:13 from another actor's work,
00:54:15 even if I'm very accustomed to a performance
00:54:17 that I saw them do for a very long time.
00:54:19 I can definitely appreciate the differences and nuances
00:54:22 of a completely different character.
00:54:25 And here, it just didn't ring sincere to me at any point
00:54:30 with what he was doing,
00:54:33 with his voice and mannerisms
00:54:35 and his never blinking that he loves to carry.
00:54:38 I mean, I think that is just Stephen Amell.
00:54:41 - I never noticed that.
00:54:42 - He's not much of a blinker,
00:54:43 which works for like, you know, stoic, serious guy,
00:54:48 but here it was odd.
00:54:53 And I don't really like the character that much.
00:54:56 This is where it's gonna sound strange.
00:55:00 Logically, I don't like the character that much.
00:55:04 Like in here, there is something weirdly fun
00:55:08 about his performance,
00:55:09 even though I can intellectualize
00:55:12 that there's so much wrong about this portrayal.
00:55:17 We talked about it quite a bit,
00:55:18 the whole thing with him being like hockey player shit,
00:55:22 they're just like forcing him.
00:55:24 Just like, 'cause they have to.
00:55:25 - Didn't work at all.
00:55:26 - 'Cause he's Casey Jones, so we gotta have it.
00:55:29 It's bizarre.
00:55:30 When he's like fighting the ninjas,
00:55:33 I hate that he whooped their asses.
00:55:37 That really upset me.
00:55:39 - It didn't make a lot of sense.
00:55:39 - I should have pointed that out right away,
00:55:41 because I was sort of waiting to see
00:55:43 how things would unfold,
00:55:44 but that severely undercut the threat of them,
00:55:47 and I probably would have liked Casey more
00:55:50 if he actually struggled to fight them,
00:55:53 versus going in and whooping some ass.
00:55:54 - He got beaten, thrown into a car,
00:55:56 and didn't affect him in the slightest.
00:55:58 - He's a superhuman.
00:55:59 - He's a superhuman.
00:56:00 He's Oliver Queen.
00:56:01 - And he's supposed to be the antithesis to that.
00:56:03 - Yeah, he's just like your regular schmo,
00:56:05 like your regular guy, you know?
00:56:07 - Yeah, I think that, I don't think he bothered me.
00:56:11 Like, he did bother me.
00:56:12 I don't know to the extent that you were bothered,
00:56:15 but I think it was, I don't know.
00:56:18 I recognize he was trying to do a different performance
00:56:20 with him pitching up his voice,
00:56:22 but yeah, I don't think it worked, per se,
00:56:26 but I can appreciate his energy
00:56:28 that he brought to the film.
00:56:30 Though, I don't know.
00:56:33 He didn't feel entirely necessary.
00:56:35 Everything about his character felt obligatory.
00:56:37 - Yeah.
00:56:38 - Like, he just like, oh, we gotta have him,
00:56:39 'cause that's what Ninja Turtles has, Casey Jones,
00:56:41 even though they're gonna put Casey Jones
00:56:42 and not really make him Casey Jones.
00:56:44 But, you know, it was fine.
00:56:47 Also, they kind of half-assed, half-baked
00:56:50 a romance tease with him and April O'Neil.
00:56:53 - Well, they're both hot.
00:56:54 - They're both hot, so they gotta get together.
00:56:56 That's what they do in the other properties,
00:56:58 that they gotta do it.
00:56:59 - What happened to his arc?
00:57:00 Did he get respect from his peers yet?
00:57:02 - I don't know.
00:57:03 - Are they gonna make him detective
00:57:04 after helping save the world?
00:57:05 - Probably not.
00:57:06 Or is he just gonna go play hockey?
00:57:07 - He's fired.
00:57:08 He's full-on vigilante.
00:57:09 - Nothing happened there.
00:57:10 - And he wore it one time.
00:57:12 I'm like, what was the point?
00:57:13 - I don't know why he changed it to that.
00:57:15 - Yeah, 'cause nothing about,
00:57:17 outside of him physically doing it,
00:57:19 had anything to do with his character.
00:57:22 - Yeah.
00:57:23 - I was like, that's, I don't know, it was kind of lame.
00:57:25 - It was lame.
00:57:26 It was a little lame.
00:57:27 The bebop and rocksteady, they're supposed to be juvenile.
00:57:32 - I thought they were annoying.
00:57:33 - Of course they were.
00:57:34 I've never really loved bebop and rocksteady.
00:57:37 There's nothing I've ever seen them in.
00:57:39 I've never read a Ninja Turtles comic.
00:57:42 But like, the cartoon, the secret of the,
00:57:46 actually, I prefer it kind of,
00:57:47 the secret of the ooze, which way I'll order it,
00:57:49 they can't talk.
00:57:50 But yeah, I don't know.
00:57:54 I've never personally been that gravitated towards them.
00:57:57 - It's weird because obviously, Krang is CGI,
00:58:01 the turtles are CGI, and they're CGI,
00:58:03 but they were the only part to me that felt like cartoons.
00:58:07 I mean, Krang kind of felt a little cartoony.
00:58:09 - Baxter Stockman did too.
00:58:10 - He was kind of cartoon.
00:58:11 He reminded me of, what's his name?
00:58:13 Electro.
00:58:17 Just like, going down.
00:58:18 Yeah.
00:58:19 Because they're black and nerdy.
00:58:20 - Yeah.
00:58:21 - He reminded me of Neil deGrasse Tyson.
00:58:23 (laughing)
00:58:25 - I wonder why, like, I don't get why
00:58:27 they didn't turn him into the fly.
00:58:28 They should have turned him into--
00:58:29 - I think they were sending that.
00:58:30 This was definitely a setup movie
00:58:31 for a bigger universe film.
00:58:33 - Yeah, and I never got why they called him Sensei.
00:58:36 As if he trained him to fight.
00:58:39 - That's what you call him.
00:58:40 - I guess so.
00:58:40 - You call him Mr. Shredder.
00:58:42 - Mr. Shredder, yeah.
00:58:43 Dr. Shredder.
00:58:44 - Doctor, why would you call him Doctor?
00:58:46 - He's a doctor, he's smart.
00:58:47 - Sensei Shredder, there's a nice ring to it.
00:58:49 - Yeah, I don't know what he does with his time.
00:58:50 You know, it's been two years since the last one.
00:58:53 He really just--
00:58:54 - Sure.
00:58:54 - He could go on Master Class and get his doctorate.
00:58:58 They can do that.
00:58:59 - Yeah, they're a little frustrating.
00:58:59 They still look good, though.
00:59:00 I like their monstrosity.
00:59:02 - Actually, I was enjoying them
00:59:03 before they became the mutants.
00:59:05 - Yeah.
00:59:06 - When they were humans, I was enjoying them.
00:59:08 - I thought his look was very '80s, prior to,
00:59:11 what was it, Bebop, that's the purple one, right?
00:59:15 I think so.
00:59:16 - Ah, shit, man.
00:59:17 - They're always a pair, I don't know, man.
00:59:18 - I forget the name assignments all the time.
00:59:21 - Yeah, yeah.
00:59:22 - That's what I forget,
00:59:23 'cause they're always together.
00:59:25 And I constantly forget,
00:59:26 which one's Bebop and Rocksteady again?
00:59:28 I don't recall.
00:59:30 - Well, yeah, I think that,
00:59:32 I don't know, they were fine, I guess.
00:59:36 They didn't really add much to the story.
00:59:37 But I think that they looked okay.
00:59:42 Also, the lips didn't bother me
00:59:43 as much this time on the turtles.
00:59:44 I think they toned the lips down.
00:59:46 - They improved the effects all around on the turtles.
00:59:49 - Yeah.
00:59:50 - They looked more real.
00:59:51 I think they leaned out Donatello a little bit.
00:59:54 - Yeah, he looked very lean.
00:59:56 That's something I also picked up on this one.
00:59:58 Because the turtles were the leads,
01:00:00 and because they got a lot more screen time,
01:00:02 I think that in addition to their looks,
01:00:05 their personalities also came a lot more distinct
01:00:08 than this one.
01:00:09 - Their expressions looked more believable.
01:00:12 Their textures felt more tangible.
01:00:15 There were times where it looked like practical effects
01:00:17 versus just mocap,
01:00:18 whereas in the last one,
01:00:20 it always looked like complete CGI to me.
01:00:23 - Yeah, they only looked good
01:00:24 when they were together in a scene by themselves.
01:00:26 But this time, they blended well
01:00:27 with their environment.
01:00:28 - Yeah, and they could be in bright-ass daylight
01:00:32 in the sky.
01:00:33 (laughing)
01:00:34 You know, full exposure to the sun,
01:00:37 and they look great.
01:00:38 - Yeah.
01:00:39 - So I thought that was a marked improvement.
01:00:42 I do think, and I thought Leonardo actually felt
01:00:45 like a real character here.
01:00:47 There are things about the pacing
01:00:49 and the overall cacophony of visual stimuli and noise
01:00:53 that can sometimes drown out some of the emotion
01:00:56 that the movie is going for, for sure.
01:00:58 But--
01:01:00 - It bothered me more in the first one, though.
01:01:01 I feel like it worked well.
01:01:03 - I feel like I would have more gripes with this movie
01:01:06 if I didn't just watch the last one.
01:01:08 (laughing)
01:01:10 This is such an improvement to me
01:01:13 that I appreciate it so much more
01:01:16 because I took a lot of fault with the last one.
01:01:20 That I'm like, "No, there are things here where I'm like,
01:01:23 "yeah, the emotion definitely could have rang a lot bigger.
01:01:26 "The comedy could have worked better.
01:01:28 "Michelangelo was sometimes too dumb to me."
01:01:33 - Okay, I feel that.
01:01:35 I feel like most of the time he's really dumb, though.
01:01:38 - No, he's supposed to be dumb.
01:01:39 But when Raphael's like, "Here's what we're gonna do.
01:01:42 "We're gonna go in and do this."
01:01:43 And Michelangelo's like, "Wait, we have a plan?
01:01:47 "We're gonna go do something?
01:01:48 "I don't get it."
01:01:49 But he's like, all the,
01:01:50 sometimes the things were like,
01:01:53 "He was too dumb to me."
01:01:55 - Okay.
01:01:56 - But he's like, "Reasonably dumb."
01:01:57 (laughing)
01:01:59 'Cause again, he's supposed to be the dumb one.
01:02:00 He's supposed to be the cloudy head one.
01:02:01 He's supposed to be the air head.
01:02:03 - The sonar one of the group.
01:02:04 - Yeah, but sometimes it was like,
01:02:06 yeah, I don't know.
01:02:09 - I would say I could have used more Splinter in the movie.
01:02:13 They used him very sparingly.
01:02:15 I think he looked a lot better than he did in the other one.
01:02:17 'Cause I feel like he had like,
01:02:18 it was just like skin and then hair.
01:02:20 - Yeah.
01:02:21 - He grew his hair out.
01:02:23 He won some hair club on this one.
01:02:25 - What I will say that I did really,
01:02:28 and I did point it out,
01:02:29 what I really did miss,
01:02:31 I thought the martial arts of the first one
01:02:34 was pretty awesome.
01:02:36 - I can agree with that.
01:02:36 - And it is almost completely absent here.
01:02:40 A lot of it.
01:02:41 Like a lot of time,
01:02:42 when it's here, it doesn't shine.
01:02:44 And it's barely there.
01:02:46 Especially, it was kind of weird
01:02:48 considering that they have markedly more ninjas
01:02:50 this time around.
01:02:52 But they didn't feel at all like ninjas.
01:02:55 - Yeah, they didn't put them in scenarios to be ninjas.
01:02:58 And also they didn't try to heighten
01:03:00 their freakishly enormous strength this time around.
01:03:03 - Well, just their hand to hand fights are like not there.
01:03:06 You know?
01:03:07 Like there's no,
01:03:08 while I enjoyed the visual big,
01:03:10 the set pieces a lot here,
01:03:12 especially, yeah, I enjoyed the set pieces a lot.
01:03:15 Like I think you can,
01:03:18 I'm seeing a ninja turtles.
01:03:20 Like you kind of need the ninja aspect of them.
01:03:24 And it's not here.
01:03:26 And that's the biggest,
01:03:27 that's the one thing I'm like,
01:03:29 oh, if you just had like the actual martial,
01:03:31 Casey Jones got to do more martial arts choreography
01:03:34 than they did.
01:03:35 - More hand to hand, yeah.
01:03:36 - And that's a real disappointing part to me
01:03:38 because that was the only thing
01:03:40 that was really missing to me.
01:03:41 And I liked the punches and the kicks
01:03:44 of the last one quite a bit.
01:03:46 Even when,
01:03:46 'cause when the movie wasn't working for me,
01:03:48 that and the last one,
01:03:49 that was really working for me.
01:03:51 And I don't know why they completely eliminated that here,
01:03:55 but yeah, I wish that was here.
01:03:59 It's still though.
01:04:00 I mean, I'd still take this movie any day over the last one.
01:04:03 I could watch this movie and enjoy it.
01:04:05 It's genuinely fun, has a good heart.
01:04:07 The color, the whole visual appeal
01:04:10 is so much something more
01:04:13 that I personally just gravitate towards much more.
01:04:17 And other than some disappointing choices that they made,
01:04:20 I thought overall it was a market improvement
01:04:22 and a bright direction for something
01:04:24 that ultimately didn't happen.
01:04:26 - Yeah, it sucks 'cause the last one,
01:04:28 the first one was so poorly received
01:04:31 that no one showed up for the second one.
01:04:32 And after watching this one, I'm like,
01:04:34 I would have watched the third one.
01:04:35 I would have, now that they've changed the direction,
01:04:37 like yeah, I'd be down for a third movie,
01:04:39 see where they go.
01:04:40 I kind of wish I would have saw this in 3D
01:04:42 'cause I feel like they really put an effort in
01:04:44 to make it three dimensional.
01:04:47 - Yeah.
01:04:47 - And I'm like, yeah, I'm going to go to my computer
01:04:49 to see what they look like in theaters.
01:04:50 But I didn't go out to see it
01:04:52 'cause I didn't care at the time.
01:04:54 But I care now and I'm sad we won't get a third one.
01:04:57 But hey, we got new turtles now and they're better.
01:05:00 - Yeah, that's what I hear.
01:05:02 Ladies and gentlemen, what did you think about this movie?

01:05:13 (audience cheering)
01:05:15 Lance Dorr, they talk about the turtles
01:05:18 being heroes in a half shell.
01:05:20 Well, you are a full shell, my friend,
01:05:23 because Lance Dorr is a real life hero.
01:05:26 He's a firefighter.
01:05:28 He goes out there and he saves lives daily.
01:05:32 Sometimes he just breaks into people's homes,
01:05:34 evacuates them, even if there's not a fire.
01:05:38 Once in a while, toaster might go off.
01:05:40 Oh, overcooked the bagel a little too long.
01:05:43 Smoke hit the fire alarm.
01:05:45 Mom walks in the kitchen, goes,
01:05:47 "Ooh, let me just fan this out a little bit."
01:05:50 Boom, Lance Dorr breaks that door in with an ax.
01:05:53 Goes, "We're getting you the hell out of here, lady."
01:05:56 Happens all the time.
01:05:57 There's been a lot of reports
01:05:58 about people wanting to fire Lance.
01:06:01 A lot of the city and the part of Canada that he lives
01:06:04 have personally requested to their mayor
01:06:06 that they remove him from participating
01:06:09 in the law enforcement and being a firefighter.
01:06:12 Yet, Lance remains because even once he was fired,
01:06:16 once he was terminated from being a firefighter,
01:06:18 he found a way to hide inside the firefighting station
01:06:21 so he could still perch his way
01:06:23 onto the back of the firefighting trucks and participate.
01:06:26 Whenever there's a cat in a tree
01:06:28 that the firefighters have to set up a ladder for
01:06:30 to go take the cat off,
01:06:32 there's Lance with a hose to shoot that cat down
01:06:37 with a big blast of water.
01:06:39 Many cats have died in Canada
01:06:42 due to Lance's overreaching willingness to be a hero.
01:06:48 But, yeah.
01:06:53 Thanks, Lance.
