00:00 Hello and welcome to the WrestleTalk News, I'm Luke Owen and this - I haven't got
00:09 any papers, that's weird - is wrestling news.
00:12 In a slight change to today's WrestleTalk News format, we're going to start with some
00:17 happy news for AEW.
00:19 LOL, just kidding, it's more about the CM Punk stuff.
00:22 It was reported this week that several names in the AEW locker room like Matt Hardy, Isaiah
00:27 Cassidy, Ryan Nemeth and the head of talent relations Christopher Daniels had been banned
00:32 from coming to Collision despite being booked for the show.
00:35 While not all names are the result of one CM Punk, reportedly some of them are.
00:40 And it has posed the possible question of who really holds the power in AEW.
00:46 And unsurprisingly, it seems as if Khan's governance over Punk - or perhaps I should
00:50 say lack thereof - has caused some unrest in the locker room according to Bryan Alvarez
00:55 on Wrestling Observer Live.
00:57 Alvarez noted that while morale isn't as low as it was post-Brawlout last year, it
01:01 might be the second lowest it's ever been.
01:05 Alvarez detailed that the unhappiness is very much with Tony Khan for allowing this to happen.
01:10 He then named Matt Hardy and Isaiah Cassidy as two names who are very upset as nobody
01:15 has anything bad to say about them, yet they're being punished in a sense.
01:19 Alvarez finished by saying effectively, "Morale is in the toilet in AEW right now, which paints
01:25 a rather dark shade of grey over what should be one of the most exciting periods in the
01:30 company's history."
01:31 And that is spreading into some comments being made about their upcoming All In show.
01:36 Although last night's episode of Dynamite went all out bananas to book matches for All
01:40 In, there are some within the AEW locker room that expected better from the biggest wrestling
01:45 show of all time.
01:46 Now it should be made clear that SE Scoops who made this report have this comment from
01:51 just one wrestler, but that one wrestler noted that a lot of talent are upset about
01:57 Wembley.
01:58 But remarkably it's not about the card, it's actually about the lack of clarity
02:03 of knowing if they're going to be on the card.
02:06 The talent they spoke to noted that maybe if it were just Wembley it would be different,
02:10 but with everything that's happened over the last year, it's becoming the one major
02:14 issue.
02:15 They added that everyone wants to be on the All In card, and feel that AEW have a lack
02:21 of urgency on confirming plans.
02:23 But like the CM Punk drama this week, there are two sides to this coin.
02:28 As another talent they spoke with defended Khan's booking of the show, pointing out
02:33 that the man himself said it would take a while for the card to take shape once they
02:37 found out that Bryan Danielson was injured, and the injuries to Jamie Hater and PAC have
02:42 not helped matters.
02:43 They add, "I'm not sure why everyone is disgruntled about it.
02:47 Tony even said, 'Injuries are going to make this like the first Forbidden Door show when
02:51 things developed and were scheduled late,' and that's been the case."
02:55 But to find out what happened on last night's bananas episode of AEW Dynamite, let's head
02:59 on over to Oli Davis.
03:01 It's Thursday, you know what that means.
03:04 My review of one of the most f***ing insane episodes of AEW Dynamite I've ever seen.
03:13 In about 5 minutes.
03:14 Right at the top of the show, Excalibur announced this episode was a Fight for the Fallen special,
03:19 with all the proceeds going to help the Maui Wildfire's relief.
03:22 A gesture so noble, the fact the entire show was sponsored by the Texas Chainsaw Massacre
03:27 video game did not undermine anything.
03:29 The opening match was Orange Cassidy defending his international championship against his
03:33 former protégé Hila Yuta, who had added an even more personal element to their blood
03:38 feud by destroying Trent's mum's car two weeks ago.
03:42 Wrestling.
03:44 After Mox and Claudio turning up at ringside at the end, and about 5 months of accumulated
03:48 body damage, wasn't enough to stop Cassidy's momentum, who won reversing Yuta's pin,
03:53 giving us our first post-match beatdown of the night.
03:56 The Best Friends made the save, but Mox and Claudio beat them down too.
04:00 I'm not going to add a separate beatdown to the counter there, only one point per post-match
04:05 or post-segment.
04:06 But we know there was another beatdown there.
04:09 So the Lucha Bros made the save, furthering the mini three-way faction feud from the last
04:14 couple of weeks, which led to the very welcome return of Eddie Kingston.
04:19 Somewhat reuniting his old family faction from his first run with the Lucha Bros.
04:23 Who, this is genuine, I haven't written these down, I'm going to guess, I think the other
04:27 people in the group were Butcher Blade Bunny was packing it.
04:38 No, it would have been Santana, no, no Santana Ortiz would have been in the, um, in the circle.
04:47 It's a weird time when Eddie first came in.
04:51 The Family.
04:54 AEW.
04:57 Let's have a look.
05:03 Nightmare Family.
05:06 Not them.
05:07 John Callas' Family.
05:09 OK, maybe the Family isn't even the name.
05:13 I bet this is riveting, isn't it?
05:16 Just watching a man Google stuff on air.
05:19 OK, I'm on Eddie's Wikipedia page now.
05:26 Professional Wrestling Career.
05:27 AEW.
05:28 So much before we got to AEW.
05:31 So the Lucha Bros turned on Kingston after he and the Butcher and Blade attacked Pac.
05:48 So maybe, here we, it was Butcher, Blade and the Lucha Bros.
05:55 I was, I was right.
05:56 I over thought, I over thought things.
05:59 Oh, that comes up in Survival Series.
06:01 Eddie then challenged the Blackpool Combat Club and three other people they can find
06:05 to a 6 on 6 man Stadium Stampede match for All In.
06:09 Boy, things really escalated quickly.
06:11 I'm very happy Eddie's back.
06:12 A Wembley Stadium Stampede match will be loads of fun, even though it coming from out of
06:16 nowhere kind of weakens the stipulation.
06:18 It's just a shame that Eddie vs the BCC isn't getting more of a story.
06:22 They had a really cool building opening about two months ago, but then Eddie left for the
06:25 G1 and nothing more could develop.
06:27 It's like they've just skipped the middle to the end.
06:30 Kenny Omega then told JR in a sit-down interview at Daily's Place that he's trying to get
06:33 out of his toxic relationship with Don Callis, and part of that will be beating Tekeshta.
06:38 Callis then appeared, orchestrating a beatdown of Omega by Bullet Club Gold and Tekeshta.
06:43 I'm going to count that as a post-segment beatdown.
06:45 We're up to two!
06:46 And then it cut to Hangman outside a local medical facility, with a can of beer in his
06:51 hand, booking a match of J White Juice Robinson and Tekeshta vs him, Kenny and Kota Ibushi.
06:57 For him.
06:58 For All In.
06:59 Someone told Hangman off for drinking outside the 'local medical facility', so he chugged
07:03 it down, hinting that all's not well with Paige's psyche.
07:05 You then found out why there was no audience sound reacting to Hangman's backstage match
07:10 announcement.
07:11 I mean, sorry, not backstage, medical facility.
07:14 They were all definitely booing Callis in the ring instead, in not just a great audio
07:18 jump cut, but a very neat piece of segment ordering really giving the episode a chaotic
07:23 flow.
07:24 Jericho joined him to announce… yes.
07:25 He will join Don's family.
07:27 But rather awkwardly, Don had already commissioned a painting that had him holding up Jericho's
07:31 severed head because he thought he was going to say no.
07:34 Tekeshta and Jogging Bottoms variant will Ospreay attack Jericho after… for Sammy
07:39 Guevara to make the save.
07:40 Jericho announced later on that it'll be him vs Ospreay at All In.
07:44 A match no one but Jericho wants.
07:47 For the second week in a row, I didn't like the Jericho segment.
07:50 There's no reason to like Jericho, as he actually made his choice to leave all his
07:54 friends and join Callis.
07:55 He looked like an idiot for trusting Callis, and Sammy looks second rate for still helping
07:59 Jericho.
08:00 For me, this is the only major storyline that isn't working right now.
08:03 Jungle Boy said he's going to retire the FTW title next week.
08:07 Send hook.
08:08 The Gates of Agony beat the crap out of Nick Wayne for most of their tag match.
08:11 And then him and Darby Allin made the quick comeback win.
08:13 Swerving AR Fox then walked down for a post-match beatdown-whoa, let me finish post-match beatdown
08:19 counter.
08:20 Joker Sting interrupted, showing he'd kidnapped Prince NaNa on the ramp.
08:23 Yeah, you calm down, you post-match beatdown counter.
08:26 We then got a comedy sketch of MJF and Adam Cole strategising ahead of their Aussie Open
08:30 ROH Tag Team Championship match - which consisted of them going to the Outback Australian restaurant,
08:35 getting Crocodile Dundee on DVD, and watching kangaroo boxing on YouTube.
08:40 Their backstage tomfoolery got them shouted at by Tony Khan in actually quite a good comedic
08:44 performance.
08:45 The only thing that would've made it better is if he ended it walking away going CM Punk.
08:51 CM Punk.
08:52 CM Punk.
08:53 MJF and Cole got an in-ring promo too, not really developing anything new, but getting
08:57 over the idea that as soon as the bell rings, both men will do anything they can to win
09:03 or attain a championship.
09:04 It's a really fascinating dynamic, as heel vs heel matches don't typically work.
09:09 But here you potentially got a heel vs heel match that the crowd currently loves as baby
09:14 faces.
09:15 So it's face vs face match, with that dramatic tension that it could become a face heel match.
09:21 Or a heel heel match.
09:24 Aussie Open attacked them at the end, but Max and Cole stood tall.
09:27 So not technically a post-segment beatdown.
09:29 Roderick Strong petulantly watched all this on the monitor in a chair because he hurt
09:33 his foot kicking Max's car earlier.
09:35 Then AEW took a crap load of acid.
09:38 Jeff Hardy took on Jeff Jarrett in Jeff Bowl in a Texas Chainsaw Death match as a way to
09:43 promote the franchise's new game and raise money for the relief effort in Maui.
09:48 The Picture in Picture Outbreak section was a very fun and inventive live horror movie
09:52 chase scene, as Team TNA and the Hardy Party brawled through a behind the scenes area bathed
09:57 in blood red light.
09:58 Some of the cinematography spots were really well done, like Sonjay Dutt's overexposed
10:02 entry from the outside.
10:03 I'm not saying this is a one-take cinematic achievement, the likes of Inuartu's The
10:07 Revenant.
10:08 I'm saying it's better.
10:09 A deadweight Hardy Swanton bomb on Jarrett through a table, Karen Jarrett covered in
10:13 blood, that actual leatherface with a chainsaw chasing her off.
10:17 This was corny pro wrestling brilliance.
10:20 Britt Baker beat The Bunny to qualify for the women's four way match at All In, which
10:23 was incredibly predictable.
10:25 House of Black attacked the Acclaimed before their tag match started, so technically a
10:33 pre-match beatdown.
10:34 This is likely setting up a Billy Gunn return.
10:36 But whose side will he be on?
10:38 And the main event saw the Young Bucks beat the Gunns in a really fun 10 minute match,
10:42 with Jey White and Juice Robinson doing their third post-match or segment beatdown of the
10:46 night, where FTR made the save.
