00:00 what can you tease about the events that take place?
00:03 You know, I have three timelines.
00:05 What can you tease about the events that take place
00:07 between the first timeline and the second timeline?
00:10 Because, you know, Megan is very much in the sense like,
00:13 you know, why is this girl here?
00:15 I'm not really feeling it.
00:16 Then we're gonna get to the second timeline
00:18 and she's like, oh, this is my bestie,
00:20 this is my homegirl, like, this is my ride or die.
00:22 So what can you tease with the things that happen
00:25 in between that we're going to learn
00:27 about how they develop this close relationship
00:29 that kind of even exists in the third timeline
00:31 though we're still trying to piece together
00:34 what that even is.
00:35 - Absolutely.
00:36 Yeah, I think that the transition from the first timeline
00:39 to the second timeline
00:40 is all about the building of relationships.
00:42 The building of the relationship between Megan and Isabella
00:44 and also the change and the growth
00:46 in the relationship between Megan and Luke.
00:49 I think Isabella coming to town
00:51 really threw Megan for a loop.
00:53 Isabella is everything that Megan doesn't really like,
00:56 but I think that's more of a projection
00:59 than anything.
01:01 But Isabella kind of comes to town
01:02 and convinces Megan to loosen up a little bit
01:06 and to be a regular teenager.
01:09 Megan had to grow up really fast
01:10 and she's super like straight A,
01:12 kind of goody two shoes,
01:13 doesn't really like break any rules.
01:16 So that's very different from Isabella
01:19 and Lexi plays it so great.
01:20 And she kind of comes in with this like amazing,
01:22 charismatic energy that is really exciting
01:27 and intriguing to everybody.
01:29 But Megan's not so sure at first
01:30 and then we kind of see how that changes.
01:32 - Isabella, she really,
01:35 you can tell that she values friendships,
01:37 but specifically also strong, healthy female friendships.
01:41 And when she comes to Chatham,
01:43 I think she sees that in Megan.
01:44 She sees this space where she can really build
01:48 a friendship with her and not even just a friendship,
01:50 but also it turns into kind of like a sisterhood.
01:53 They really become close.
01:55 And at first, Megan pushes back,
01:58 but Isabella kind of has this mindset
02:00 where it's like, she's not gonna stop.
02:02 She's not gonna back down
02:03 until she really gets what she wants.
02:05 And she's able to charm Megan into finally biking her
02:10 and being cool with her.
02:11 And I think that that arc being able to see
02:15 just how tight they get,
02:16 even in the span of like a couple of months
02:18 is really cool.
02:19 - Thank you, Griffin, for you.
02:21 We learned at the end of the first episode
02:23 that Luke was very central to the mystery
02:26 of what's going on.
02:28 And I'm even trying to piece together
02:29 like what possibly could have happened
02:32 by the time we get to the end of episode one.
02:33 So how did knowing his fate that we learned
02:37 at the end of the pilot impact the way you approach
02:39 the character throughout the rest of the season?
02:41 - Great question.
02:42 Honestly, one of the main things for me
02:46 is knowing that Luke was gonna meet an untimely fate.
02:50 I wanted to build everything up
02:55 to drive that nail in as hard as possible,
02:57 to make that, you know, the stakes as high as possible,
03:01 to make people actually feel sad for him
03:04 and wish it didn't happen
03:07 and just be invested in him in general.
03:09 So early on, one of the main things I was trying to do
03:13 is just make Luke seem as innocent and nice
03:17 and likable as possible, get along with everyone,
03:20 smile on his face, cracking jokes, being goofy.
03:24 I just wanted people to actually like him
03:26 so that at the end they would miss him.
03:29 They wouldn't be like, "Oh, well, he had it coming."
03:33 You know?
03:34 And as we get further and further into the season,
03:37 what I think is so interesting about Luke
03:39 is you get to see how flawed he is as a person
03:43 and all of the intricate things that make him him,
03:46 good and bad.
03:47 And you get to, it leaves you questioning a lot.
03:50 You know, I don't think he deserved what he got
03:54 in the end, but it's definitely,
03:56 you go on an interesting journey of like,
03:58 do you like him?
03:59 Do you not?
04:00 And I thought that was really interesting.
04:01 And knowing where it was gonna end
04:04 made everything in the beginning, in the middle ground,
04:09 a lot more fun to play with,
04:11 because I knew that,
04:13 I knew the reaction I was going for at the end.
04:16 So everything else was just a buildup to that, I think.
04:18 - Well, thank you three so much for chatting with me.
04:20 I cannot wait to check out the rest of the season
04:22 and I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day.
04:24 - Thank you so much. - Thank you.
