00:00 Ecuador is ready to go for the next general elections on August 20th.
00:05 Previously, we presented the profiles of the candidates Jan Tappik from Country Without
00:10 Fears, Alainz and Daniel Novoa from the National Democratic Action.
00:16 This time, we are presenting the profile of the candidate whose surveys are placed in
00:21 second place.
00:22 His name, Otto Snowsonerd Bada, who is here, our correspondent Elena Rodriguez has the
00:30 answer from Ecuador.
00:31 Forigero Otto Snowsonerd is a businessman and radio broadcaster from Guayaquil.
00:38 He was vice president of Ecuador between December 2018 and July 2020.
00:43 At that moment, he was a new face on the political scene.
00:52 He was vice president of Lenin Moreno, who has "freedom" written on his forehead.
00:57 And it's very difficult to read the people around him without that sign tattooed on his
01:01 forehead, which was not only a betrayal of the political project that brought him to
01:05 power, but also a betrayal of the people, because everything they both did in the government,
01:10 Lenin Moreno, as an announcer, was aimed at transferring power to the elites and destitutionalizing
01:16 the country.
01:23 As vice president, he played a leading role during the COVID-19 pandemic, and when the
01:27 country was at its most critical moment, he resigned to his position.
01:34 It is very difficult to desaturate himself when he hasn't escaped from power, when he
01:38 was unable to give a concrete response to a situation that was one of the most painful
01:44 for the people here.
01:45 That is, let us remember that the neglect and opportunism that prevailed at the time
01:50 led to the people dying in their homes and to Ecuador being recognized as one of the
01:54 countries in the most critical condition in terms of policy at that time.
02:05 He is running for the presidency under the "Let's Add" coalition, which brings together
02:09 the human and advanced parties.
02:10 In his speech, he is careful not to pitch himself on the left or on the right.
02:15 That's why with us there will also be prosperity for the families, peace in the streets, money
02:21 in the homes, prosperity for the family, the family that needs the state to guarantee its
02:26 education, its health, its security, the family that needs to live in a country that gives
02:32 them hope here in their own land, not somewhere else.
02:36 Sonny Holzner is an economist by trade.
02:39 He recently received a master's degree in public administration from Harvard.
02:43 His campaign proposal is based on five axes with a special focus on security and social
02:48 investment.
02:49 According to the numbers that I have been able to analyze, Sonny Holzner could be competing
02:57 for a second place and it could be a hug phase if he were to be on the runoff elections against
03:02 the citizen revolution, because he could pull together a large coalition to confront the
03:07 citizen revolution.
03:08 The Citizens' Revolution Movement is represented by Luisa González, who according to the World
03:15 Service has at present around 30 percentage points of voting intention versus almost 12
03:21 points for Sonny Holzner.
03:24 His running mate, Erika Paredes, is a newcomer to the political scene, but not to the public
03:28 arena.
03:29 She has a bachelor's degree in international affairs and has worked for the United Nations
03:32 Organization.
03:33 On August 20th, more than 30 million Ecuadorians will go to the presidential election to elect
03:41 their new representatives from among eight candidates.
