00:00 Catherine McPhee and David Foster's nanny's cause of death has reportedly been revealed.
00:06 On Tuesday, LAPD announced that a 55-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries after an 84-year-old
00:12 woman crashed her car into a Toyota dealership in Mission Hills, California, and collided
00:17 with her and two employees.
00:19 The two employees were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the hospital, but the 55-year-old
00:24 was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
00:27 According to multiple outlets, the late customer was Catherine and David's son, Rennie's nanny.
00:33 Axis Hollywood has reached out for comment.
00:35 The news comes after Catherine shared last week that she would be cutting her international
00:39 tour short due to an unspecified family tragedy.
00:42 TMZ, citing sources close to Catherine, reported that she and David considered the nanny "family."
00:48 Axis Hollywood last spoke with David and Catherine back in December 2022, and at the time, they
00:53 opened up about family and their son while promoting their holiday album.
00:57 David Foster getting everyone in the holiday spirit at the Rockefeller center Christmas
01:01 tree lighting.
01:02 >> You definitely have to check out their new album, "Christmas songs."
01:05 Please welcome Catherine and David!
01:06 >> Wow.
01:07 >> Whipping them into a frenzy.
01:08 >> Come on.
01:09 >> I'm walking out and I'm thinking, you have to be the couple that everybody wants around,
01:18 right?
01:19 That is the -- you on the piano, you singing with your black gloves.
01:24 Or wedding.
01:25 You guys would be outstanding.
01:26 >> We do get asked.
01:27 Rarely are we invited to a wedding where we're not asked to sing and play at a wedding.
01:31 >> Are you in the car like, okay, baby, they asked.
01:33 >> This is what we're going to do.
01:35 >> Start here.
01:36 >> We're going to start a cappella.
01:38 >> Then we're going to kick into that.
01:39 >> I don't like to be -- we don't like to be stingy with our talent.
01:43 Whatever we have, people are welcome to it.
01:45 Some singers, they just don't want to -- unless they're rehearsed.
01:47 >> I don't ever want to sing.
01:48 >> That's true.
01:49 >> Let me keep it real.
01:50 >> He's always like, you're going to sing, this is what you're going to sing.
01:53 It's always him telling me what I'm going to sing.
01:55 >> Not a democracy.
01:56 >> As a couple, is that a neat thing to do together?
01:59 I feel like you're in perfect harmony when I watch you right there.
02:02 >> I have to say that this is -- I actually had like an aha moment last week and I told
02:07 you.
02:08 When we started dating, I was like, we're not doing interviews.
02:11 We just don't do that.
02:12 >> She's older than me.
02:13 It's not this.
02:14 People are going to talk.
02:15 >> Yeah, we know there's an age difference.
02:17 We don't want to talk about it.
02:19 And then the other day I was like, wait, what?
02:22 We just did a Christmas -- now we're doing interviews together?
02:24 We're doing Christmas specials together?
02:26 We're doing touring together?
02:28 And I obviously just let that whole thing go because I was excited about our -- this
02:33 was something that started as like, we're going to just put this out on all the streamers
02:36 and on our social media.
02:37 We'll do two songs.
02:39 And then it turned into a full-fledged photo shoot with David and a tiny little globe.
02:44 >> Come on.
02:45 >> So cute.
02:46 And yeah, we've just been really grateful and excited for the opportunity to just get
02:49 out and --
02:50 >> And we called it Christmas songs.
02:51 You know why?
02:52 >> Why?
02:53 >> It was an idea from the record company.
02:54 We called it Christmas songs because when you say, Alexa, play Christmas songs, they'll
02:56 play our record.
02:57 >> That's such a great idea.
02:58 >> Whoo!
02:59 >> Wait, I love that.
03:00 >> There are millions of Alexas right now.
03:03 >> Check it out.
03:04 >> What?
03:05 >> How did you decide what songs to cover?
03:08 >> There's nothing really scientific or magical about it.
03:11 People may think that.
03:12 But we get up in the morning, we have a piano there.
03:15 She's geographically desirable.
03:16 We just go to the piano and, you know, like, hey, what do you think about this song?
03:20 I could demonstrate if we go to the piano later.
03:23 What about "Winter wonderland"?
03:24 Let's try it as a ballad.
03:25 Let's try it up tempo.
03:26 >> So actually, like, our plan this year was we did seven songs.
03:29 And next year we're completing the full album.
03:32 So it's like a collection.
03:33 This year was, you know, half of the album and the next year.
03:36 So we'll be back at it.
03:37 But --
03:38 >> You know what that is?
03:39 Leave them wanting more.
03:40 >> Yeah.
03:41 >> We want more.
03:42 >> Would you do that?
03:43 >> I hope so.
03:44 >> You performed at Rockefeller center and at Disney.
03:45 Is there a tour planned with this?
03:46 >> We're doing Vegas coming up December 16th and 17th.
03:48 There will be a lot of Christmas music from the album there.
03:52 And we're playing Vancouver on the 14th.
03:54 So we still have about five more dates.
03:55 >> We just did about a week and a half on the east coast.
03:57 So yeah.
03:58 The tour is happening.
03:59 >> The tour is happening.
04:00 >> I'll tell you what I'm excited about.
04:01 >> What's that?
04:02 >> We were just backstage.
04:03 >> Uh-oh.
04:04 >> With the cutest baby on the planet.
04:05 >> Oh, the rentster.
04:06 >> There little Rennie.
04:07 He was playing the drums.
04:08 He's 2.
04:09 And he was walking around.
04:10 Oh, my goodness, look at him right there.
04:12 >> It was the belly for me, kid.
04:13 >> He got so polite.
04:14 >> That was at 17 months and now he's 22 months.
04:16 And we keep on saying one day he's going to drop it and not be into it.
04:19 But he's just obsessed.
04:20 So we'll see.
04:21 But our nanny was sick today.
04:23 So we had to bring him to the set.
04:25 >> It's my favorite thing of all time.
04:27 We might put a cam in the thing.
04:29 Wait, tell us about this age.
04:30 I love his little belly and little shoes.
04:33 >> Everyone says it just keeps getting better and better.
04:35 And it's true.
04:36 I love the little baby stage.
04:37 But I'm just -- I'm crazy about him.
04:40 It's so much fun.
04:41 >> She's a great mom, as you can imagine.
04:43 And we feel like we're the only parents on the planet.
04:45 But we're not.
04:46 >> We're not.
04:47 >> We're billions of women and fathers and mothers that experience what we're experiencing
04:50 now.
04:51 But it never gets old.
04:52 It's just fantastic.
04:53 >> We're having so much fun.
04:54 >> But you saw him playing the drums a second ago there.
04:56 Did you -- Dave, be honest.
04:57 Did you try to scoot the drums over, slide a little piano over there?
05:00 >> No, look, I'd prefer he was a tennis player, to be honest.
05:03 >> Really?
05:04 >> Yeah.
05:05 >> Roger fetter, come on.
05:06 Roger fetter or Tommy Lee.
05:07 I'll take Roger fetter.
05:08 >> Not today.
05:09 >> No offense to Tommy Lee.
05:10 >> No offense.
05:11 No offense.
05:12 >> Let's talk a little jewelry.
05:14 Tell us about your jewelry line.
05:15 >> Oh, my gosh.
05:16 It's something I was always passionate about.
05:18 Gift giving, like with jewelry and, you know, giving special pieces for my loved ones.
05:23 But a year and a half ago, I got connected with a friend, connected with somebody, and
05:27 I never said to anybody, I would love to have a jewelry line.
05:30 It was always something I fantasized about but only in my head.
05:33 And the fact that we've created, like, everything I'm wearing --
05:36 >> I'm checking everything out now.
05:37 >> All of it.
05:38 >> And it's affordable, folks.
05:39 >> It's affordable.
05:40 >> Well, some pieces are.
05:41 >> Some pieces are.
05:42 >> Some things you're going to have to save for.
05:45 >> Yeah, but that's like we have something for, you know, that's really affordable and
05:49 stuff that's maybe something you want to work toward and that you can keep and have forever.
05:54 >> We are real close, Dave, to the release of this Whitney Houston bio pic.
05:59 >> Oh, yeah.
06:00 >> December 13th.
06:01 >> We're excited to see this.
06:02 >> Same.
06:03 Very excited to see it.
06:04 It makes me think, though, of the bodyguard soundtrack, of course.
06:07 >> Still the best.
06:08 >> And you tell me, is this story true that the song that we all know and love, "I will
06:15 always love you," was -- the cut that we know is the demo?
06:19 >> No, that's not true.
06:20 >> But I've heard -- >> It was a rough mix.
06:22 >> A rough mix.
06:23 >> It was a rough mix, which for those of you that don't know, it's the difference between
06:25 spending an hour making it sound great and spending 12 hours making it sound great.
06:29 We spent an hour trying to make it great, and that's what they ended up using.
06:33 Clive Davis, in his infinite wisdom, said, "That's what I want."
06:36 >> Was it always going to start off acapella or --
06:39 >> No.
06:40 >> Right?
06:41 >> Yeah, I mean, I thought it was a stupid idea.
06:42 And I said to Kevin Costner, I said, "Look, if you want that for the movie, I'll do it.
06:45 But when I get to the studio and make the record, I'm going to put music around that."
06:49 Then we're in the ballroom where she's doing it live, we're recording her.
06:52 She starts with the -- >> No.
06:53 >> "If I."
06:54 >> Oh, I thought it was that.
06:55 >> No, "If I."
06:56 >> Oh.
06:57 >> Thank you, sir.
06:58 >> I'm not even going to try to sing it.
06:59 >> Whitney, right?
07:00 >> No, and then it was like a moment, and her mother was standing right beside me.
07:06 She didn't know I was producing the record.
07:08 She said, "You're witnessing greatness right now."
07:10 And she was right.
07:11 >> Right?
07:12 >> And I couldn't hear it any other way after that.
07:13 >> Can we end with something on the piano?
07:15 >> Absolutely.
07:16 >> Since we're here.
07:17 >> All right.
07:18 >> You guys are our favorite guests.
07:19 This has been so much fun.
07:20 We'll go to this side.
07:21 You go that way.
07:22 >> Also, peep the shoes.
07:23 >> Thank you.
07:24 >> I know.
07:25 >> You have to style them.
07:26 >> Both of them, actually.
07:27 No joke.
07:28 >> Now, we're going to do a little "Jingle Bells," okay?
07:29 >> Okay.
07:30 >> You know why?
07:31 >> Why?
07:32 >> Because it's public domain.
07:33 You don't have to pay for it.
07:35 >> Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.
07:39 Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh.
07:43 Hey!
07:44 Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.
07:47 Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh.
07:51 Oh, we're riding through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh.
07:55 Oh, what fun it is to go, oh, love it all the way.
07:59 Ha, ha, ha, bells on bob tails ring.
08:01 Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh.
08:05 Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh.
08:09 Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh.
08:13 Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh.
08:17 Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh.
08:21 Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh.
08:25 Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh.
