00:00 So amid an at times, bit of an unclear economic environment,
00:04 how would you describe the general sentiment
00:06 among investors?
00:07 Would you say some are perhaps more skittish than usual?
00:10 What's your diagnosis of where we are right now?
00:13 Well, JD, we're a retail brokerage,
00:15 so of course we try to keep our finger on the pulse
00:18 of individual investors.
00:19 And what we're all kind of feeling right now
00:22 is general ease about our financial situations,
00:27 about the job market.
00:28 I mean, we see it in surveys that we run.
00:30 But at the same time, we feel skittish about what's
00:32 happening around us, which makes a lot of sense.
00:34 I mean, the world is changing very quickly.
00:37 Interest rates are quite high.
00:38 And some parts of the economy don't feel great.
00:41 So to that point, according to a recent retail investor survey
00:45 data that you and your colleagues at eToro put
00:47 together-- and they're always amazing data points--
00:51 over half of respondents are confident
00:53 about their financial situations.
00:55 Do you expect that to last?
00:57 Yeah, so this is the wild thing about that.
00:59 We ask retail investors about if they're
01:03 confident about a bunch of different topics--
01:05 their financial situations, the economy, the global economy,
01:08 the housing market.
01:09 And what we've found over and over again
01:12 is that more than half of retail investors
01:14 feel good about their own financial situations
01:16 and their own employment.
01:18 But less than half of them feel good
01:20 about the economy around them.
01:22 So this isn't much of a surprise to me.
01:24 It's part of the reason why we saw the Vibe session last year,
01:27 where confidence dropped, but the labor market
01:30 remained strong.
01:31 So I think we're just seeing a continuation of that.
01:33 And I actually think, with inflation coming down,
01:36 if it stays down, then we could see
01:38 confidence continue to improve.
