CHED attends deliberation of its 2024 proposed national budget

00:00 The Commission on Higher Education attended the deliberation of its proposed budget in Congress.

00:05 For the year 2024, 29.68 billion pesos has been allotted for CHED,

00:11 98.4 percent of which is allocated for Higher Education Development Program,

00:16 while 1.6 percent is designed for the Higher Education Regulation Program.

00:22 At the budget hearing, some lawmakers asked about the remaining 72 million pesos proposed budget allocated

00:28 for the scholarships of nursing students.

00:30 Some of CHED's officials said it can be used for students who want to study in college.

00:35 The agency claims a request has already been made to realign, but the Department of Budget and Management objected.

00:42 According to CHED Chairperson Prospero De Vera, despite having a smaller proposed budget for 2024,

00:48 they will make good use of it.

00:50 They also proudly shared their accomplishments, including the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act,

00:57 Maritime Education, Nursing Education, Medical Education, STEM Niche Programs,

01:03 and Internationalization of Philippine HEIs.
