00:00 Meanwhile, the group of illegal loggers in Quezon was arrested during the NDI operation.

00:05 John Consulta brought the news.

00:07 This mysterious procession of horses in Quezon,

00:15 an operation of illegal loggers in the province,

00:18 saw the literal, breathtaking passage of horses by animals

00:23 in the heavy wooded mountain in the mountainous area of Quezon.

00:27 In aerial video, you can see the rugged part of 13,000 hectares of forest

00:32 due to the several years of illegal logging operation.

00:35 The DNR is also included in the Region 4A,

00:38 raided by the NBI ANCD,

00:40 the place where illegal logging is done.

00:43 Three suspects were caught while using a chainsaw to cut wood.

00:48 Another man was arrested after some of the cutters

00:51 from the illegal operation recovered the horses.

00:56 We asked if they have any certifications or authority to cut timber

01:02 but they failed to show us any supporting documents.

01:06 We arrested them and filed a case of violation against PD705 and the Anti-Chainsaw Act.

01:18 According to the NBI,

01:20 the illegal loggers play loud music to hide the noise of chainsaws

01:26 while cutting wood like white lawahan, timig, kalantas, amlang, and the threatened species of balobo.

01:33 The chainsaw and several thousand board feet of what are considered hot lumber were confiscated.

01:38 Illegal logging is a crime.

01:40 And we would like to highlight that the deterioration of the forest

01:45 would trigger flooding, landslides.

01:49 It may destroy biodiversity and decrease the production of hydropower.

01:56 No one has yet been convicted of the suspect who is currently in jail

01:59 at the NBI detention facility in Muntinlupa.
