00:00 It's nothing like finals football and you've taken Bungaree into a long-awaited final series.
00:06 It's been a while coming. Obviously that mid-stage of the year can get a bit long in the tooth
00:12 and we're finally there. So it's exciting, it's exciting for the footy club. Both our
00:17 seniors and reserves are in and our 'rodeens are in as well. So we're there to have a go
00:22 at it. There's some good courting teams around us, absolutely, they're in some pretty good
00:26 football. So we'll just have to regroup and get ourselves together. But no, it's an exciting
00:30 time of the year, it's the best time of the year, isn't it? You want to play a good footy,
00:33 now's the time to play it.
00:34 Look, you've worked hard, you earned the double chance, which is what the whole season was
00:38 about. Whether you finished first, second, third or fourth, it really didn't matter.
00:42 You've got that qualifying final berth. So how important is that to know that you can
00:48 go into a final series with that double chance?
00:52 Yeah, it's obviously my first experience of being involved with a top eight and obviously
00:57 with no real home ground advantage and the top three or four sides and plus more are
01:02 pretty even across the field, the top four was crucial. We may have just saw that up
01:07 a week or two ago. So our focus has been on that for a while. Obviously we had to tick
01:11 some stuff off along the way. We've done that, here we are. So we're leading to a really
01:16 exciting week for the footy club and as I said, top four is the goal for any side, isn't
01:20 it? Especially at this level and this league with the top eight. So we're there and let's
01:25 see how we go.
01:26 So, yeah, the home away season's done, you draw a line in the sand. So what's the main
01:32 message to your player group, which as a group is new to finals? What's going to be your
01:38 main theme in the leader?
01:40 Yeah, so, I mean, my first coach always said, you know, there's two seasons within a season
01:45 and I was talking to you before, David, about that. There's the qualifying stage and then
01:49 there's the final stage and they're two completely different scenarios, two completely different
01:54 games. So the message is, is just, you know, if you've got any self-doubt, now's not the
01:59 time to bring it out, you know, now's your time to back ourselves in, back yourself in
02:03 and have a go. Because, you know, a finalist footy is, it is more intense, you know, there's
02:08 more eyes on you, you know, potentially under more pressure, but, you know, that's when
02:12 the good players come to the fore. So the message is, is to enjoy it because as we know
02:17 with COVID and, you know, all of a sudden guys that were 20 are now 25 and they may
02:22 not get another chance at finals footy. So enjoy it, but know that, yeah, if you're going
02:29 to play a good game, now's the time.
02:32 And it's all about taking the opportunity because these don't come along all that often
02:37 and it's all about grabbing the chance, isn't it?
02:39 Oh, absolutely. And that word opportunity, you know, you know, I've never been a big
02:43 believer to, you know, grab a beer at Best of Ferris night and talk about what could
02:47 have been, should have been or would have been. It's about what happens and no one cares
02:50 about the couldas and shouldas or, you know, what people think, it's what people do.
02:54 So, yeah, that word opportunity we've been talking about for quite a while and obviously
02:58 it'll grow leagues this week.
