00:20 Can you just give me your headline figures please and just how you feel about this year's results?
00:25 Yeah, we're very pleased with this year's results considering we are being judged against 2019 levels.
00:30 We are slightly up, well we are up by 3% in our 7-9 grades, the top grades.
00:36 The national picture is different to that, there's a reduction in top grades, so we're very pleased with that achievement.
00:41 Overall our 9-4s, including English and Maths, are slightly up, about a percentage up on our grades in 2019.
00:48 For me, 2019 really was an uninterrupted year, uninterrupted cohort of years.
00:55 Whereas 2023 of course, these children had their education disrupted, primarily in Year 8 and Year 9, the important middle years of secondary education.
01:05 Both Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland made adjustments to their marking schemes with the examination boards, England have not.
01:12 In fact, in some cases the top grades boundaries have gone higher, making it more difficult to achieve those grade 9s.
01:18 Saying that, our grade 9s have increased, but ever so slightly, based on our 2019 figures and what we've got this year in 2023.
