00:00 Could you introduce yourself and tell me what's happening here today?
00:02 Hi, I'm Vicky Dillon-Thistleton. I'm the Head of School at Havn Academy.
00:06 We're here today collecting results for our Year 11 students.
00:09 And it's been a tricky couple of years in teaching with Covid and
00:14 all these different sort of challenges you've had. How do you think that's
00:17 panned out today in the results?
00:19 Well, everybody knows it's been an incredibly difficult time. I think
00:23 this year group, these Year 11s, have actually felt some of those difficulties
00:26 the most. They've been affected by some of those
00:29 fundamentals they needed to get earlier on in their education have
00:33 been affected by Covid. But in spite of that, despite that, I think
00:38 they've performed well and they've shown those characteristics that
00:41 they're going to need when they leave us and they go out into the wider world.
00:44 So, they're leaving with qualifications, some of them are
00:47 excellent, but more importantly they're leaving having shown
00:51 huge resilience, wonderful sense of humour, they've kept going
00:55 and we're incredibly proud of what they've achieved. They've done really
00:58 really well and the community should be really
01:00 proud of them for having done that. And actually,
01:03 I'm really proud of the staff as well because for them it has been, it's been
01:07 widely documented I think in the press, how
01:09 challenging teaching has been over the last few years. But actually,
01:12 they have worked incredibly hard, they've kept on going, they care passionately
01:16 about these young people and I think that's reflected
01:18 in the results that we've got today.
01:20 Well, thank you very much. I've seen some smiling faces, some not quite so happy,
01:24 but thank you for all the work you've put in.
01:26 You're very welcome. Thank you very much.
