00:00 Good day, I'm Naomi Tiburcio and this is PTV News Now.
00:16 Former US President Donald Trump voluntarily surrendered at Fulton County Jail in Atlanta
00:21 to be booked on felony charges of fracketeering.
00:25 This is in connection with his conspiration to overturn the result of the 2022 presidential
00:30 election in Georgia.
00:32 After his fingerprints and mugshot were taken, Trump was immediately released on a pre-negotiated
00:38 $200,000 bond.
00:40 Trump spent only about 20 minutes at the jail.
00:43 After this, Trump made his return to X, formerly known as Twitter, wherein he posted his mugshot.
00:50 His first post since the... he was permanently banned from the platform on January 8, 2021.
00:57 Trump is faced with 13 felony counts in the Georgia case.
01:01 His latest arrest marked an unprecedented fourth time that Trump was to be arrested
01:05 in the past five months.
01:09 Maui County sued Hawaiian Electric Company for the devastating wildfire in Lahaina, the
01:15 deadliest fire in the US in more than a century.
01:18 Maui alleges the utility company that it negligently failed to shut off power despite the dry conditions
01:25 and high winds that toppled power poles, knocked down power lines and burned down vegetation.
01:31 According to the lawsuit, the wildfire could have been avoided if the utility company properly
01:37 maintained and repaired the electric transmission lines and other equipment.
01:42 But Hawaii Electric said that they were very disappointed because Maui County chose the
01:47 litigious path while the investigation is still unfolding.
01:51 As of now, the confirmed dead stands at 115 but is expected to increase due to the ongoing
01:57 search and rescue operation.
02:00 Three Filipinos were confirmed dead in the wildfire in Maui, Hawaii, according to the
02:05 Department of Foreign Affairs.
02:07 77-year-old Salvador Coloma was added to the list.
02:11 DFA assures assistance and support to the families of the victims.
02:16 As for the Filipinos who are looking for their lost families, call the Philippine Consulate
02:22 in Honolulu with the number flashed on your screen.
02:25 As of 2020, 388,000 people in Hawaii were identified as Filipino or part Filipino.
02:36 Ease of paying a visit to the country is the latest private sector advisory council's recommendation
02:42 backed by President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. after a meeting yesterday in Malacañang.
02:48 In a meeting convened by the PSAC Tourism Sector yesterday in Malacañang, it bared
02:53 the necessity to standardize the application process and procedures for filling out visa
02:59 requirements as well as accreditation of clinical facilities for medical clearance and requirement
03:06 for foreign students on certificate courses or studies.
03:09 Among the proposals, online student visa application and submission of requirements.
03:14 Likewise, the DTI recommended the authorization of at least three clinical facilities or treatment
03:21 centers nationwide for tourist medical clearances.
03:25 The entire student visa application takes roughly two months, the longest in Southeast
03:30 Asia, and there is great potential in education tourism given the volume of foreigners with
03:36 the intent to study here, a HIRT's official said.
03:40 And it is the government's best interest to tap into this market that could grow to 10
03:44 million by 2030 after hitting over 5 million before the pandemic hit.
03:51 And this is Naomi Kimolcho, stay informed, be aware, get ahead, be of use.
