Despite rumors, Tyler Van Dyke is NOT injured and is prepared to start for the Miami Hurricanes against Miami of Ohio.

00:00 So people were just panicked like in my YouTube mentions and my ex Twitter comments and on
00:07 our subtext platform.
00:09 Dono, what's going on with Tyler Van Dyke?
00:13 I heard he's not going to play against Miami, Ohio.
00:16 He's not ready.
00:17 There were reports that came out on Sunday alleging that Tyler Van Dyke is nursing a
00:24 finger injury and that he's 50/50 against Miami, Ohio.
00:31 That's not the case, at least not according to Mario Cristobal.
00:35 Tyler Van Dyke is healthy and he is going to play this Friday night.
00:39 So you will have your starting quarterback to open up the season in the epic Miami versus
00:45 Miami battle.
00:46 Here's what Mario Cristobal had to say today.
00:48 By the way, I mentioned it is game week and we had the reason why, you know, this episode
00:53 is coming so late today.
00:55 Check out our morning episode with Jakari Brown, Isaiah Horton and Jalil Skinner.
00:58 That was a lot of fun.
00:59 But this episode is coming out so late today because around 3 p.m. Mario Cristobal, offensive
01:05 coordinator Shannon Dawson and defensive coordinator Lance Guidry had their now weekly game week
01:10 presser for week one against Miami, Ohio.
01:13 Mario Cristobal didn't even have to get asked about Tyler.
01:16 He addressed it in the opening statement.
01:18 He said, quote, Obviously, there's been a lot of buzz around Tyler Van Dyke and him
01:22 being injured.
01:24 Tyler has been practicing at full speed.
01:26 Mario said, you guys be in the media, not me, but, you know, the collective you guys,
01:32 even though I didn't do this, you guys reported something relative to him missing some days
01:36 of practice and him and a couple of guys were due to camp.
01:42 So what Mario is saying is that, yeah, maybe in a practice or two, one of those closed
01:46 sessions because late in the week, the media was not invited to practice at the end of
01:50 the week, that maybe Tyler did take it easy and get some time.
01:53 But according to Cristobal, that was, you know, like a camp banged up thing.
01:58 That's a term he likes to use a maintenance thing and that Tyler Van Dyke got a little,
02:03 you know, got to take it easy late in the week.
02:04 But according to Mario, the reports about TVD having, you know, a serious enough injury
02:09 that he may not play in the game this weekend.
02:12 Rubbish to you.
02:14 According to Cristobal, that's just not the case.
02:16 He says Cristobal about Tyler.
02:19 He's 100 percent and has been practicing with our team.
02:23 I know you guys like to write stuff.
02:26 So there you have the stuff that you need.
02:28 Hopefully, he said, and a little bit more on the injury situation.
02:33 And again, Tyler Van Dyke is not injured.
02:36 So that means the Miami Hurricanes starting quarterback will be leading the offense on
02:40 Friday night at 7 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium.
02:43 Cristobal was asked about the larger injury outlook.
02:46 Right, because there have been certain players who have missed a little time in camp.
02:50 Right.
02:51 We talked about them taking it a little easy on Elijah Arroyo, you know, coming off of
02:55 his injury.
02:56 And we know that at some point in the earlier days of camp, Chris Johnson, the freshman
03:00 running back, missed a little bit of time.
03:03 But he's been back the last couple of weeks.
03:05 Full go for him.
03:06 Cristobal says that basically the entire team, minus the guys who had surgery, you know,
03:13 this season or during the offseason are going to be ready to play.
03:17 So Trevante Citizen and Zion Nelson are the guys for sure who are not going to be ready
03:24 to play.
03:25 And Cristobal, specifically on Zion Nelson, the left tackle, said he's going to be held
03:29 out a little bit more.
03:30 We expect him to be back, but not yet.
03:32 Sounds like the staff doesn't want to rush him back, you know, until they're sure that
03:36 he's ready.
03:37 Because, you know, I think that they may have rushed him and a couple of other guys back
03:40 a couple of times last season.
03:42 You know, maybe that wasn't the best thing.
03:43 You want to make sure he's fully healthy.
03:45 Cristobal did say again, he does expect Zion Nelson to play at some point this season.
