Hero Karizma XMR 210 Review by Promeet Ghosh. The Hero Karizma XMR 210 has been launched at Rs. 1.73 Lakh (Ex-Showroom). The Karizma was a show-stopper when it was first released, but since then, we haven't seen Hero launching any bike similar to it. Until now. The updated Karizma comes with a sportier and more aggressive design that suits the bike's personality. The Karizma XMR is also a great commuter motorcycle for Indians as it has a relatively comfortable seating position.

00:18 Charisma XMR.
00:19 Now, this motorcycle launched two decades back and it just created a boom in the market
00:27 with its sporty designs because it was way ahead of its time, the stylishness, the sportiness
00:32 and the engine 20 years back.
00:34 And what you see over here is the all new Hero Charisma XMR.
00:38 So let's quickly start this video and I'll tell you everything you need to know about
00:41 this motorcycle.
00:43 So now let's start off with the front end of the motorcycle and what you see over here
00:48 is a full LED setup.
00:50 Now you get the LED DRLs over here, you also get LED headlights and they look absolutely
00:55 awesome.
00:56 You get the LED headlights over here, plus what you see over here is the visor.
00:59 Now there's a very cool trick that Hero has integrated with the visor and over here you
01:03 have, you can see you have the visor button.
01:06 So once you press this, you can adjust this visor and actually that is a really good thing.
01:12 So when you are speeding a little bit, you can put it down for an extra sportiness and
01:16 when you're touring, you can put it a little up, so it'll help you with the wind blast.
01:20 Also over here at the front, you can see this aluminium ORVMs that look really nice, they
01:25 are adjustable and they are very good quality, plus the front design, the front cowl actually
01:30 looks very sporty, you also have these LED indicators over here and if you come to the
01:37 down section over here, you will see that it gets these 37mm telescopic regular fork.
01:41 Over here it's written dual channel ABS and you can see it gets twin piston caliper vibrate
01:47 brakes with pedal disc brake.
01:49 Obviously since it's a dual channel ABS, obviously you get a disc brake at the rear as well.
01:52 So the disc brake size is around the 300mm pedal disc brake at the front and you get
01:56 a 230mm at the back, we'll come to the back section a little later.
01:59 You also get this alloy wheel, now this is a 17 and 17 at the front and the back, the
02:03 front tyre is around 100 by 80 and the rear section obviously is around 140.
02:09 So now coming to the side profile of the motorcycle, you can see over here that this is in the
02:14 iconic yellow colour that the Charisma was launched back then, so they have brought back
02:19 the iconic yellow colour and it's available in three colour options, one is the red, one
02:23 is this yellow and one is the matte black.
02:26 So you can see that the cowl extends all the way up to here and it goes to the down portion
02:30 as well, well giving the bike a really really sporty look.
02:34 The tank is also neatly integrated and you have an 11 litre fuel tank over here and you
02:38 have the Charisma badging over here and this is the fuel filler cap.
02:41 Now again, this is an 11 litre fuel tank and we will get back by telling you that and how
02:46 much distance can you go when you fuel this tank up completely.
02:49 Now if you come close over here, I will just show you the instrument cluster.
02:53 So basically this is the instrument cluster, it's a full digital cluster and you can see
02:57 you get the temperature gauge over here, you get the fuel gauge over here, this is the
03:01 RPM meter, the speed will be displayed over here, plus you get some awesome tricks that
03:07 you can do from here, so this is the mode button, so with the help of the mode button
03:10 you can see over here you get a trip A, you get a trip B, you also get your fuel economy
03:14 that's written right over here, plus you get again this is the range, I think the distance
03:19 to empty will show over here and this is nav, so basically you have turn by turn navigation
03:24 as well and if you see over here, you also get a type A fast charging, that's a really
03:30 good thing that's integrated over here, plus the switch gear quality is actually nice,
03:35 so on the right hand side you have the hazard button, you have the start stop and the engine
03:39 kill switch, on the left hand side you have this pass, this high beam, low beam and the
03:43 fast switch, you have your mode selector, the indicator and this is the horn, if you
03:49 see the setup of the handlebar, it's a three piece handlebar, it's really sporty, it looks
03:53 absolutely fantastic, gives the bike a really sporty look, a really sporty appeal and this
03:59 is the seat, so the seat is a split seat, obviously it's very cushy, it's very nice
04:03 for the rider, it's a big seat, but the pillion seat I feel is a little narrow, but for short
04:09 rides in the city, I think it will be perfect, you also get these silver coloured grab rails
04:14 that look absolutely fantastic and you have aluminium foot pegs over here, plus you see
04:19 that the exhaust is a short exhaust and it sounds nice, so let's quickly hear the exhaust
04:23 note.
04:27 So this is how the exhaust sounds.
04:32 Actually, it's got a good grunt to it, it's got some amount of bass as well and if you
04:41 come to the rear section over here, you can see you get this pedal disc brake that is
04:45 around 230mm, you get a single piston bi-brake caliper over here and this is the swing arm,
04:50 obviously the rear section gets a 140 by 70mm tyre, that's a broad tyre, which gives and
04:57 adds a little bit of sportiness to the motorcycle, well, over here you get this tail light unit,
05:02 that's a completely LED tail light unit and it actually goes overall well with the bike's
05:06 design, you also get these LED indicators and this thing extends all the way up to the
05:11 back, giving the bike a sporty look from the rear end as well.
05:15 Now let me just hop onto the motorcycle and before hopping on, let me tell you that the
05:19 rear suspension, as I mentioned that the front is a 37mm telescopic suspension, but the rear
05:25 you can see is a red colour monoshock that can be adjusted by six ways, it's a six step
05:30 adjustable monoshock for the preload and now let's hop onto the motorcycle and this is
05:37 how you will be sitting on the all new Charisma XMR.
05:42 Now I, for reference, I am 6'1" and the seat height of the motorcycle is around 810mm,
05:48 you can see that I am not tiptoeing at all, but I think short riders might have a problem
05:54 because they might tiptoe a little bit, but it's a very comfortable, you can see the riding
05:58 triangle, the footpeg is set slightly towards the back and this is how you will sit on the
06:04 motorcycle, very upright position, it's good for touring, it's good for your city runs,
06:08 I don't think you will get tired, maybe, maybe, tall people might have an issue after a very
06:15 long run because obviously you sit like that, so maybe, it's not confirmed yet, we will
06:20 get this motorcycle later on and we'll tell you that whether you will have a back problem
06:24 riding this motorcycle on a long run, but as of now, it feels very, very comfortable,
06:29 again as I mentioned that the seat cushion is really nice, it's really cushiony, this
06:33 is how you will sit on the all new Charisma XMR.
06:37 Now coming to the main part, that is the engine of the motorcycle, now this is a 210cc, 4-stroke,
06:43 4-valve, it's got the DOHC technology that's first in the class and also one more thing
06:48 is first in the class, like this has liquid cooling, so Hero has introduced liquid cooling,
06:53 you can see over here, if you see that the radiator is there, so that helps a lot in
06:58 the engine cooling, obviously the liquid cooling helps a lot because if you are riding the
07:03 entire day, the fan will be on and it's not a very noisy fan, but it will help cool down
07:08 the engine really fast, especially in this stop and go traffic conditions.
07:13 Now the power on the engine is around 25.5 PSI of power and the torque is around 20.4
07:19 Nm and it's weighted to a 6-speed gearbox and the engine is really really refined, so
07:25 the acceleration is kind of very linear at the start, there is nothing till like around
07:29 3,000 to 4,000 RPM, but the power band hits post 5,000 RPM and the red line is all the
07:34 way up to the 9,500, maybe 9,600 mark where you have to shift, so I mean the engine is
07:42 very smooth, the ride is very smooth, the power delivery is post 5,000 RPM, before that
07:46 the bike is, I mean it is fine, the acceleration is linear, but if you gas it, it will move
07:53 and I think we rode it with a pillion, with a pillion actually you can see that the second
07:58 seat is very high, so the pillion will be sitting like a little uncomfortably is what
08:02 I feel because it's actually placed too high, but for the rider, it's absolutely fantastic,
08:09 you can just roam around in the city in stop and go traffic and plus this bike weighs 163
08:16 kgs, so it's not that heavy and with that the power to weight ratio is actually very
08:22 nice.
08:22 So, overall guys, the legend is back as you can see over here in this iconic yellow colour,
08:33 this is the all new Charisma XMR and let me talk about the pricing of the motorcycle,
08:38 so this motorcycle has launched at an introductory price of Rs. 1.73 lakh ex-showroom, to be
08:44 exact Rs. 1.72 900, that's Rs. 1,72,900, that's the ex-showroom price, but this is an introductory
08:52 price, obviously later on they will increase the price of the motorcycle a little bit,
