00:04 >> We just gotta go out again, be consistent, and
00:07 hopefully we can play four quarts of football better than they do.
00:12 >> What about just the Houston area and what it means to you and
00:16 your program with getting kids to come out there and play for PV?
00:20 >> Man, that's great.
00:21 I mean, again, you and I talked about it off camera.
00:24 And to be able to go out and get a lot of kids from this area,
00:28 which we know can play football, there's a lot of talent here in this area.
00:32 And that's what we're, at PV, that's what we're trying to do.
00:36 We didn't get a lot of guys last year, high school wise, but
00:40 because we wanted to go and be able to compete this year.
00:43 We went out and got more transfer portal guys, transfer guys.
00:47 But at the same time, we did get adequate high school kids that we know,
00:51 most likely, not gonna get a red shirt.
00:54 I'm telling you right now, they have been doing that well.
00:57 So to see them come in and do well as they have done, I mean,
01:01 that says a lot about Houston and the surrounding areas, Dallas as well.
01:05 >> Coach, thanks, Coach.
01:06 Appreciate it. >> How you doing, man?
01:07 >> Hey, sir, how you doing?
01:08 >> Man, I'm sorry I'm late.
01:10 >> That's okay.
01:10 [LAUGH] >> But you had me on the call.
01:13 >> Got you, sir.
01:15 >> Talk about your quarterbacks.
01:18 I know when you spoke in the spring, you guys were unresolved in that particular
01:22 field, talk about what's gonna happen this Saturday, who's gonna be your star?
01:26 >> Trey's on college, gonna be the starter.
01:28 Again, we got Jaden Johnson, who's from Coahoma, transferred from Coahoma,
01:34 came in, been doing really well, still learning the system.
01:38 Do he know enough right now to go in?
01:42 Absolutely, if we have to.
01:43 But yeah, Trey will be the starter right now and looking for some great things,
01:48 looking for a big season out of him.
01:50 And the reason why I say it, because again, he took the initiative to do a lot of
01:53 things just off season to prepare himself, teaching, getting taught how to throw
01:59 the ball, mechanic wise, and more importantly, going in the field room
02:04 with pro guys, learning how to read defenses.
02:07 >> Talk about the running backs, Antoine is coming back?
02:11 >> Double A's, yeah, Antoine, he's definitely coming back.
02:13 >> I know he's ready.
02:15 >> He's ready, he's ready, no, cuz again, he missed like three games last year due
02:20 to a concussion deal, but he's ready to go, man.
02:25 He's a powerful runner, and for him to come out this spring and
02:32 this fall and do what he's did and has been doing, and so
02:36 the young guys can see what he's doing, he's been awesome in that area.
02:40 >> Okay, defense, I know when we spoke last, we talked about replacing guys like
02:44 Jesse Evans, who transferred out.
02:48 What's happening there?
02:49 How do you feel about these guys going into the Labor Day Clubs?
02:51 >> Yeah, we feel pretty good about the D-line, we really do.
02:54 I mean, we're still working on some of them right now, but
02:58 we feel pretty good about what we have went out and
03:01 got to replace Jesse and some of the other guys.
03:04 So that, again, we know that they're gonna help us be where we need to be
03:10 defensively, which Coach Fossum, who's the new DC over there this year,
03:15 he coached the linebackers as well.
03:17 So he has done a great job getting these guys ready to go.
03:21 So now it's about us going out, running what they're supposed to do,
03:25 what they're supposed to do defensively, and being consistent at it.
03:29 And like I said, they're ready to go.
03:30 They've been flying around all summer, man, ready to go.
03:33 Now they're ready to go out and hit somebody else rather than hitting each
03:36 other all summer.
03:37 >> Okay, any last points that we should know about this
03:42 Panthers team going into 2024?
03:45 >> Well, but then we're better than what everybody rated us at.
03:48 I'll leave it at that.
03:50 >> Okay.
03:53 >> Okay.
03:54 >> All right, Coach, appreciate you.
03:56 >> Thank you.
