00:00 About 1 million residents in southern China fled the storm because of the typhoon Saula,
00:04 while hundreds of residents in Syria protested because of the halted gas subsidies.
00:10 Abbie Malanday reports.
00:12 Strong winds, heavy rains, and sometimes strong thunderstorms.
00:21 This is what residents are experiencing now in southern China while they are being swept away by the typhoon Saula.
00:28 According to the National Meteorological Center of China,
00:32 the typhoon Saula landed in the country early this morning.
00:36 Because of this, almost 1 million residents fled from the city of Zhuhai,
00:42 Guangdong Province, and the southern casino hub Macau.
00:46 Before it hit southern China, the typhoon left a trail in Hong Kong, Shenzhen,
00:53 and other major cities in China, where millions of residents were affected.
01:00 It also affected the Philippines, where the typhoon was also reported.
01:04 The most missing from the six prisons in Ecuador are 50 guards and seven police officers
01:14 who were hostaged since last Thursday.
01:17 This is amid an issue of drug trafficking and the rise of gangs in the prisons in the country.
01:26 According to the Ecuadorian Authority,
01:28 the law enforcement officers who did not detail how they got out of the prison were safe.
01:36 They took advantage of the hostage-taking by conducting raids on the prisons in the country
01:43 and transferring their prisoners to avoid gang war.
01:47 Meanwhile, hundreds of residents protested in the province of Sweden in Syria for several weeks.
01:55 The protest finally started last month
01:59 when President Bashar al-Assad's government gave a gas subsidy
02:05 that had a severe effect on the residents amid the war in the country and the economic crisis.
02:12 To date, the Syrian government has not taken any action to stop the protests
02:18 and to address the affected residents.
02:22 Abbey Malanday for Sabbayan.
