00:04 Tonight in primetime in Charlotte, it is North Carolina,
00:09 a top 25 team taking on South Carolina, the second most in terms of receiving votes
00:14 in the preseason AP poll, you could consider them number 27 in the country,
00:19 if you would like.
00:21 Joe, UNC, a two and a half point favorite in the 60th all time meeting against
00:25 the Gamecocks of South Carolina.
00:28 How do you see the game playing out tonight in Charlotte?
00:30 >> I think it's close early and I think in the end, Spencer Rattler and
00:33 South Carolina do pull off the victory when it may be anywhere from seven to
00:37 ten points.
00:38 I'm buying into the progression of Spencer Rattler at the end of the year against
00:42 the likes of Tennessee, Clemson, and Notre Dame.
00:45 I think that'll carry over this year in terms of a veteran wide receiver core.
00:49 We mentioned three receivers, all seniors,
00:52 going up against a suspect secondary in North Carolina that ranked 115th
00:57 in all of FBS and allowed 35.8 points per game against opposing teams and
01:03 quarterbacks.
01:04 To me, that's the difference.
01:05 I think they win this ball game outright, guys.
01:07 >> Look, for me, UNC defensively was obviously terrible last year.
01:11 Spin zone can't be any worse than heading into this season.
01:14 And it's not like that South Carolina defense has anything to brag about,
01:18 especially on the ground where they were vulnerable last year.
01:21 And I think that's important in helping this UNC offense just adjust to the changes
01:26 that come with Phil Longo's exit to Wisconsin and Chip Lindsey coming in.
01:29 I've talked about Drake May on the ground.
01:31 We'll talk about that a little bit more.
01:33 And I also think when we talk big picture here, right, you mentioned it,
01:37 the South Carolina team's just on the outside looking in.
01:40 We're not talking about challenging for an SEC title, but a high level ball game and
01:44 getting it to the next level, what this means for Spencer Rattler and
01:47 his NFL draft prospects.
01:50 But if you're UNC and you're able to win this game and
01:52 maybe win it convincingly double digits, maybe we then need to have a conversation
01:56 about UNC in the ACC title race, which is right now a two-team conversation.
02:01 >> What is so fascinating to me about this game is that quarterback comparison and
02:05 what success individually means for these two teams success-wise as well.
02:10 We'll get to good Spencer Rattler versus bad Spencer Rattler in just a moment, but
02:15 it wasn't quite the same script, but similar last year for North Carolina and
02:19 Drake May, he was a world beater last year in the first ten games for
02:24 UNC in which they won nine of them.
02:27 He averaged more than 340 yards through the air in the opening ten games for
02:32 UNC, averaged 50 yards on the ground in all 14 that North Carolina played.
02:36 The Tar Heels won nine of those ten games.
