00:00 >> Carson, how would you say, how did you feel about your first performance?
00:02 >> I felt good.
00:02 I was excited to be out there.
00:04 It's been a while since I started playing, so I thought we played well.
00:07 I think it took a second to settle in, but I was super excited to be out there.
00:10 >> Did you have a little bit of nerves or anything like that?
00:12 >> Of course, I mean, of course I had nerves.
00:15 It's been a while since I've been out there and played, even from last season.
00:18 I mean, the last time we took the field was in January at the National Championship.
00:21 So it's been a lot of months and we put in a lot of work.
00:24 So I was super excited to be out there, though.
00:26 >> At what point were you the most comfortable?
00:28 Was it immediately?
00:29 Was there a certain tour or drive or anything that you kind of felt like, all right, I'm
00:32 in command?
00:33 >> I mean, I'd say in the second quarter.
00:34 I mean, I think it took a little transition period.
00:36 I think we had two drives in the first quarter.
00:37 So just working through some things.
00:39 Shoot, it's our first game.
00:41 We're gonna have a few bumps in the road.
00:44 And in the second quarter, I think as a full offense, we settled in and
00:47 I settled in.
00:48 >> Obviously, Ladd didn't play.
00:49 What did you think of Makai and just how he worked out today?
00:51 >> Yeah, I mean, he had a great fall camp.
00:53 I'd say he had the best fall camp out of any guy on our team.
00:56 He comes in, he works hard.
00:58 I think all the other receivers also played really well.
01:00 Our offensive line protected really well.
01:01 He had no sacks.
01:02 Defense also played really well.
01:04 So it was a good first game.
01:05 >> What do you say about Brock Bowers?
01:06 I mean, he's like a running back, tight end, receiver, everything that he can do.
01:09 >> Yeah, he does it all.
01:09 I mean, it's fun to watch.
01:11 He works.
01:13 He grinds whenever we're in practice and workouts.
01:15 And everything that he does, I mean, you can see why the hard work pays off for
01:19 sure. >> Carson, how would you evaluate your
01:21 performance tonight?
01:22 What were some things you could improve on?
01:24 >> I think in every area I can improve.
01:26 We didn't do the best in third downs, I think.
01:28 I'm not exactly sure, but third downs for sure.
01:31 And then obviously, I mean, it's our first game.
01:33 Like I said, we're gonna have bumps in the road, and
01:35 there's a lot of different things that we can improve on, so.
01:37 >> What happened there on that red zone drive with two minutes left?
01:40 >> Sorry, what? >> What happened there on that red zone
01:41 drive with two minutes left?
01:42 Like there was that handoff to cash, and then you have to spike it on second down.
01:45 >> Yeah, I'm not really sure.
01:47 I mean, they call in the plays.
01:48 I run the play, so that's really all that was there.
01:52 >> You mentioned kind of working through the kinks early on.
01:55 What is that process that you go through as a team to kind of, I guess,
01:58 get things straightened out early?
02:00 >> Well, yeah, I mean, we haven't played a game in a while.
02:02 It's the first game.
02:03 Like I said, there's bumps in the roads.
02:04 So we just go out there and keep going every single play,
02:07 try to execute a first down, second down, third down, and
02:10 then just do the best for the game.
02:11 >> That rushing touchdown, what was that emotion?
02:13 Like I saw you all celebrate with your teammates, and
02:15 just that feeling of getting in there in your first start.
02:17 >> Yeah, I mean, it was cool.
02:19 It was my first rushing touchdown, I think, that I've gotten in college.
02:22 So it was exciting to be the guy running in the end zone.
02:25 It's a little different feeling than being the guy throwing.
02:27 >> What are some of the biggest things that you'll be looking for
02:29 when you watch film this weekend?
02:31 >> I mean, every area.
02:32 I think that there's so many areas to improve, especially from my first start.
02:36 As an entire offense, they were gonna come together and
02:38 just look at different intricacies and be the best that we can be.
02:42 >> How good does he look?
