Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was responding to an individual who highlighted the issue during his one-day working visit to Johor on Sunday (Sept 3), and said that he was shocked that only one school in the country was conducting the examination for special needs students.

00:00 I am a NYDP from a private school in Johor Bahru.
00:06 So, I am here today to speak,
00:09 hoping that you can consider it.
00:11 First, I would like to congratulate the students.
00:16 We have tried to help the students of OKU,
00:19 where there are deaf students in Johor Bahru.
00:24 They are potential students,
00:27 and they are very potent in academic and core curriculum.
00:31 After the 6th Dajjal or UPSR,
00:36 there is no school network for potential OKU students
00:42 to take SPM in Johor Bahru.
00:45 So, there is a lot of deaf students in Johor Bahru.
00:52 Parents are forced to send their potential students
00:58 to only one school in Penang,
01:01 where they can take SPM.
01:04 The SPM network is the same as the normal school.
01:09 Yes, I will take note of that.
01:12 Yes, only one school in Johor Bahru.
01:15 Okay.
01:15 Thank you.
01:17 Thank you.
01:18 And I will definitely bring it.
01:23 This is a school, a potential school,
01:29 a school for special education,
01:33 for hearing.
01:35 Special education for hearing.
01:36 Okay, the instruction and knowledge are accepted.
01:45 Sometimes I think,
01:48 what was the point of the noise back then?
01:51 How could it not be?
01:52 There must be thousands of students in one country.
01:58 At that time, there was no SPM meeting.
02:01 No SPM meeting?
02:03 That's a problem.
02:05 But sometimes they make noise,
02:06 they yell, they get angry.
02:08 I'm also surprised.
02:09 Some people say, "What is Anwar doing?"
02:11 "He is the Prime Minister."
02:12 "He is busy trying to be a celebrity,
02:14 meeting students."
02:16 I'm also surprised.
02:17 I studied a lot.
02:19 Since I was a student,
02:21 what I want to say is,
02:22 I studied too.
02:23 I didn't know,
02:25 even though I struggled with the people's problems,
02:27 there were things I didn't know.
02:29 I heard, for example, special education for hearing.
02:33 SPM?
02:34 Yes, SPM.
02:34 For hearing.
02:35 Yes, for one country,
02:38 hundreds of thousands of people,
02:40 millions for the South,
02:41 there wouldn't be, for example.
02:44 So, what I want to say here is,
02:46 when we have the power of government,
02:48 when we hear,
02:50 we try to implement it.
02:53 This is what we try to do.
02:55 So, if someone wants to
02:57 make a fuss about meeting Anwar,
03:00 I want to tell them,
03:02 it's true, if we think we are smart,
03:05 big-time,
03:06 there is no harm in listening to the children.
03:11 What level are the children?
03:12 Special education school,
03:15 and earlier, there was a college,
03:16 some said 6th grade,
03:17 there are universities.
03:19 What's wrong with listening?
03:21 Not that I agree with everything,
03:23 but if the suggestion is good,
03:24 we accept it.
03:25 And if I can't answer,
03:27 I bring it to the ministerial meeting,
03:29 discuss it with the minister of education.
03:31 That's what I do.
03:33 So, thank you very much.
03:34 God willing, we will be part of our plan soon.
03:37 Yeah.
03:39 Yeah.
03:40 Yeah.
03:41 Yeah.
03:42 Yeah.
