00:18 A blind woman who was travelling alone on a Vistara flight from Delhi to Kolkata was forgotten
00:23 and left alone long after the rest of the passengers had de-boarded.
00:27 The incident was reported by the woman's son who had slammed the airlines and the staff for the irresponsible act.
00:34 Describing the incident as distressing, he said that despite having requested an assisted travel plan,
00:41 for his mother, Vistara failed to provide the necessary assistance when required.
00:47 The airline, known for its service quality and having won multiple awards,
00:50 has issued an apology for the matter in the reply to the post.
00:53 Expressing his dissatisfaction on Instagram, Ayush Keshriwal, son of the blind woman who travelled with Vistara wrote,
01:01 "Vistara Airlines, how could you put my blind mother in danger like this?
01:05 Are you not responsible for taking care of disabled passengers who are left under your supervision and assistance while travelling? Shocking."
01:13 Once the flight reached its destination, all passengers disembarked, inadvertently leaving the lady behind.
01:19 Fortunately, a diligent cleaning staff member from the airline heard her cries and promptly alerted others,
01:24 leading to her safe removal from the aircraft. He alleged in the video.
01:28 According to him, when the flight landed in Kolkata, his mother was told to wait for somebody to come help her
01:33 while the rest of the passengers got off the plane.
01:35 However, after waiting for around 20-25 minutes, nobody came for her and she realised the cleaners had boarded the flight.
01:42 She then raised an alarm after getting scared that she would be left behind on the flight,
01:46 whose next destination was the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. She was then taken off of the flight.
01:51 Ayush said that the incident happened despite opting for an assisted travel plan for his mother.
01:56 He further alleged that they had been trying to get in touch with Vistara, but the airlines hadn't responded to their concern.
02:02 However, the airline posted a comment on Ayush's video on Instagram and wrote,
02:06 "Hi Ayush, we deeply regret to learn about your recent experience with us.
02:10 At Vistara, we hold ourselves to the highest service standards and it upsets us to hear that we fell short of your expectations.
02:17 Please be assured that we prioritise the well-being of our customers and their safety and security are of top priority for us.
02:23 Please DM us the case reference numbers and booking details. Thanks. Ishwarya."
02:28 Several people have commented on the video, calling the incident "sad and scary".
02:32 What did you guys think about the incident? Do let us know in the comment section below.
02:36 Today I want to talk about a terrible experience that my blind mother had whilst travelling through Vistara Airlines
02:44 from Delhi to Calcutta on the flight UK747 last week.
02:50 So my mother is blind and we had booked an assisted travel plan for her using a wheelchair,
02:59 which means that somebody from the airline would get her at the airport and make sure she was assisted all through her journey to Calcutta,
03:10 where somebody else would be waiting for her from my family and hand her over to the family members.
03:16 However, when the flight landed in Calcutta, everybody got off and my mother was told to wait and somebody would come for her.
03:27 So she patiently waited and then after several, after kind of 20-25 minutes, nobody came for her
03:35 and she saw cleaners had boarded the flight and they started cleaning the flight.
03:39 At that point, my mother realised that that was quite unnatural and there might be a possibility that she would be left on this flight,
03:47 which was going to then go to Andaman and Nicobar Islands and she got a bit scared.
03:52 So she raised an alarm and told the cleaners that she was meant to get off at Calcutta and not stay on the flight.
03:57 At that point, they realised that they had forgotten about my mother and if she hadn't raised an alarm or, you know,
04:05 spoken to the cleaners, she would have landed up in Andaman and Nicobar Islands,
04:11 which is quite dangerous considering my mother is blind and because of her disability,
04:17 she would be totally in a new place with no help and wouldn't know what to do.
04:23 And that is very, very dangerous and unacceptable.
04:27 We have got in touch with Vistara to ask for an explanation and to give them feedback.
04:32 So this does not happen to other people, but we have not heard back, which is disappointing.
04:37 Vistara, you need to take more responsibility.
04:40 This is not a matter that can be taken lightly.
04:45 You know, you have put my mother in a lot of danger and luckily for my mother,
04:50 she was smart enough to realise what was happening and seek for help.
04:54 But there might be other people like children and old people or people with learning disabilities
04:59 who relatives might put in your care to get them from one place to another.
05:03 And if this happens to them, you know, there could be a loss of life, which is totally unacceptable.
05:11 And I'm very, very disappointed that you haven't even bothered responding to our feedback and communication.
05:17 And it worries me now that because my mother is supposed to travel back from Calcutta to Delhi in the next few days.
05:24 So I'm just posting this video, hoping everybody here kind of, you know, shares this message.
05:31 So airlines and authorities do something and take this feedback seriously.
05:37 So this does not happen to vulnerable people like my mother again.
05:42 Please be careful, very careful. I'm terribly worried for my mother.
05:47 And my mother is completely shaken and she shouldn't feel like that.
