00:12 I'm Prameet and today what we are driving is the Toyota Urban Cruiser High Rider.
00:17 Now this is the hybrid version and we've been driving this within the city and the highway
00:23 for a couple of days now and here are some things that we need to tell you about this
00:27 vehicle.
00:28 So let's quickly start this video.
00:34 And let's talk about the front end of the vehicle.
00:36 Now the very first thing you will notice is that this vehicle is based on a very similar
00:40 vehicle from Maruti Suzuki.
00:41 Now let's not concentrate on that.
00:44 Let's concentrate on this particular model that we have.
00:47 So at the front end you will see that the grill is slightly kind of a wide grill.
00:52 I mean it's in two patches.
00:56 The upper portion is finished in that faux carbon fiber.
00:59 Looks really nice.
01:00 You have a lot of chrome that connects the DRLs.
01:02 So the DRLs are present on top, headlights are present on the bumper and you have some
01:07 silver finishing on the skid plates as well.
01:10 Now you have body cladding all over as you can see from the side profile and you also
01:15 get these 17 inch dual tone diamond cut alloy wheels.
01:19 Looks absolutely fantastic.
01:20 You have all four disc brace as you can see over here and body cladding is present all
01:28 over.
01:29 So it makes the car look a little more muscular, little more bulkier.
01:32 Overall it is a big and a wide car.
01:36 Plus this as you can see is finished in this dual tone finish.
01:39 So it gets this blue paint along with the black roof and there's a shark fin antenna.
01:45 There is a panoramic sunroof as you can see over here from the inside.
01:48 But from top obviously it is tinted so it looks completely black.
01:53 Coming to the rear section you have the Urban Cruiser high rider badging on one side.
01:58 You have the hybrid badging on one side.
01:59 This is the V variant so you have the V variant just above the hybrid badging.
02:04 It also gets this 360 degree camera feature where you get cameras in the front, back and
02:08 on the ORVMs.
02:09 Now the ORVMs are again finished in the piano black color.
02:12 Color combination that Toyota has given is actually nice.
02:14 Otherwise usually people give body colored ORVMs.
02:17 But it is looking nice.
02:18 There is some amount of chrome present on the front, back and all over the car.
02:23 That gives it a little premium touch.
02:26 So this actually sums up the rear end.
02:28 And yeah if you wanna talk about the boot right.
02:29 If you see the regular variant and this hybrid variant has a little bit of a difference.
02:34 So since the battery pack is present in the boot so you have a little less space compared
02:39 to, actually you have 100 liters less compared to the regular variant, the non-hybrid one
02:44 or the smart hybrid one.
02:46 This is a strong hybrid variant.
02:47 So you have a little bit of storage.
02:49 As you can see you have some compartments over here on the left and the right hand side
02:52 of the boot.
02:53 And it can pretty much store four cabin bags if you have four people traveling.
02:58 But a lot of luggage will not be possible because of the hybrid system that this car
03:02 has.
03:09 And now let's quickly move on to the interior.
03:11 So the very first thing you will notice is that this car gets this dual tone finish interior.
03:16 That's absolutely good.
03:17 Again will remind you a lot about the Brezza.
03:20 So you can see that the steering wheel infotainment system.
03:22 I mean obviously the entire dashboard has been from Maruti.
03:26 But the engine, the mechanics department obviously you know that Toyota has been in the strong
03:31 hybrid game since a long time and the Camry has been around in the market for a very long
03:35 time now.
03:36 So the engine and the mechanics is taken care by Toyota.
03:40 But the, as you can see the rest of the part is again sourced from Maruti.
03:45 And there's soft touch materials all over.
03:47 There is this brown tan kind of finish on the dashboard.
03:52 On the door panels and you have a lot of switches and a lot of buttons over here.
03:56 So let me quickly explain.
03:57 So this is the nine inch infotainment system.
03:59 The top of the line again has the Toyota interface.
04:01 And you can connect your phone and get a ton of information about the vehicle.
04:05 Also just below you get these AC vents.
04:07 Obviously the AC vents have been placed slightly below because of the infotainment system.
04:11 Piano black finishing is there.
04:13 You have some silver finishing as well.
04:14 So you can call it a triple tone dashboard kind of a finish.
04:17 Also just below that you have your automatic climate control.
04:19 You have a small screen that gives you details about the temperature, the fan speed and other
04:26 information about the air conditioning.
04:28 You have a traction control button.
04:30 You also get a wireless charging compartment over here.
04:34 You get type A, type C and you also get a USB and you also get a 12 volt charging socket.
04:39 So charging wise you are sorted.
04:41 And space wise there is a lot of storage space cup holders.
04:45 You can see over here that this thing also has cubby hole.
04:47 This thing can slide.
04:49 So I mean yeah comfort wise this car is very comfortable.
04:52 Feature wise it has a lot of features.
04:54 For example like this heads up display.
04:55 If you do not want it you can just press the HUD button for like three seconds and the
05:01 heads up display will close.
05:03 Again if you want to operate it press it for three seconds and it will open back again.
05:06 Giving you again a lot of information about the car, about the hybrid system, about your
05:11 speed, your time.
05:13 So yeah non-hybrid variants, the non-strong hybrid variants get the analogue dial.
05:18 But this gets a completely digital cluster.
05:20 You have the LED readouts on either side for the temperature and you have some electric
05:26 bits as well.
05:27 For example your power, eco and your charging mode.
05:31 In the centre you have an MID screen and that gives you a ton of information about the car.
05:36 Again you can customise it according to your need.
05:39 Brightness can be adjusted.
05:40 I think, I'm not sure but I think the backlight can also be adjusted.
05:45 I could not find that.
05:47 But yeah pretty neat layout.
05:49 Information that this thing gives out is very crisp.
05:52 It's not very confusing.
05:53 And again you have your steering mounted controls and the steering wheel is again the same you
05:58 see on the other, the Japanese counterpart.
06:02 And steering wheel is round.
06:03 It's not flat bottom.
06:04 You have steering mounted controls on either side.
06:06 You have three toggle buttons over here for your connectivity, for your phone connectivity.
06:11 And this thing also gets ventilated seats.
06:13 So the ventilated seats can be operated from here.
06:16 You have three settings from either side, the driver and the passenger.
06:18 And it is absolutely fantastic to use this during a hot summer day like this.
06:24 Plus as I mentioned you get this panoramic sunroof over here.
06:28 And the best part is that the second glass also opens up.
06:31 I mean yeah that's something you do not see on all panoramic sunroofs.
06:35 But the second glass also kind of opens up a little bit giving you a lot of space, like
06:39 a lot of sunroof space just in case if the car is standing and you want to go out and
06:47 have a view from the top.
06:48 But please do not do that while the car is driving because that is really really dangerous.
06:53 And coming to the back seat you have AC vents, you have an AC blower.
06:56 You do not get, you get a single zone climate control.
07:00 Plus you have decent amount of space.
07:01 You have a central armrest that features two cup holders and if you are four people going
07:07 you can just deploy it.
07:08 Again see the material, the cushioning is really nice.
07:11 You will not get tired out.
07:12 There are three adjustable headrests that you get at the rear.
07:16 And again these headrests are also adjustable, the driver as well as the passenger.
07:21 And as far as a little bit of feature at night that you get, you get some amount of ambient
07:25 light.
07:26 It's only one colour that's in white.
07:27 You will not be able to change it but yeah the door latches and the dashboard gets it.
07:32 So I mean it gives you that kind of a premium feel when you are driving at night.
07:37 Overall this is how the interiors look like.
07:40 And now let's come to the main part that is the heart of the car.
07:48 Now this gets a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
07:52 It also gets, as I told you it's a strong hybrid one.
07:55 So it also gets a battery along with the motor.
07:58 Now the battery is placed at the boot so that's why you have less space.
08:02 And the motor is obviously connected at the front to the engine.
08:05 So the combined power of both these are around 92bhp and 122nm of peak torque which on paper
08:11 does not sound that much.
08:13 But if you floor it, you will see that there is a little bit of peppiness that this engine
08:19 gets and that is because of the electric motor.
08:22 So whenever you floor it, that electric motor gives some assistance and because of that
08:27 the car feels really peppy.
08:28 Otherwise 92bhp actually does not sound and it's kind of a decent power figure I would
08:34 say.
08:35 It's not something very fast.
08:37 But because of this system, hybrid system, the car feels a little peppier and fuel economy
08:42 is just amazing.
08:43 I mean, I mean in the city right now what I can see and in peak traffic we were getting
08:47 somewhere between 18 to 18.5 kilometres per litre.
08:52 The claimed mileage is around 27.
08:53 I'm sure on a highway if you have a light foot or if you use cruise control, you will
08:57 be able to achieve those numbers and I mean, since this is a hybrid car, so almost 45 to
09:05 50% of the time you are driving in the electric mode in the city.
09:09 Otherwise, when you are at high speed, the electric motor does assist you so that gives
09:13 some less load on the engine and that is why you have a brilliant fuel economy on this.
09:18 So I mean reaching triple digit speed should not be a problem at all as you can see right
09:22 now, we've already crossed 100 and again, this will keep on going but since this has
09:29 an eCVT gearbox, so you will have that rubber band effect but the gearbox is pretty refined.
09:34 It's nice.
09:36 You also have three driving modes that is your normal, that's your eco, your city mode
09:41 and your power mode.
09:42 However, they do not tamper with the power figures.
09:45 They only change the throttle response.
09:47 Right now we are in the normal mode.
09:49 We will recommend you to drive that on the normal mode but since you're, if you're on
09:52 the highway and if you want to extract all of the mileage that the star can give, you
09:57 can put on cruise control, put on the eco mode and I mean put the AC temperature a little
10:02 high.
10:03 So you will be able to achieve, I think more than the claimed mileage figures that the
10:07 company gives but I mean, yeah, definitely it can achieve around 27, 26, 27 kilometres
10:12 per litre on the highway.
10:14 So on a full tank, this thing can go at least between 800 to 1000 kilometres from a tank
10:20 size that around 45 litres.
10:22 So imagine the amount of mileage that this car can give.
10:24 However, the suspension is very nice.
10:27 It's balanced.
10:28 It can both handle the car can corner well.
10:31 It does not have a lot of body roll again, couple that with the suspension and right
10:35 now mind you, we are driving in the electric mode and we are doing speeds of around 76,
10:39 77 kilometres per hour and I'm completely on the electric mode right now.
10:43 So once the battery will drain off, it will charge again, the motor will kick in and it
10:48 will keep some amount of battery so that next time when you start the car, it will start
10:53 only in the electric mode.
10:54 It will never start on the motor, it will always start on the battery and then it will
10:59 switch to the motor.
11:00 So overall guys, I mean, yeah, this car is priced around 20 lakh rupees ex-showroom and
11:05 if you are really looking for a strong hybrid car with a lot of features and tech, again,
11:11 all LED headlights, tail lights, interior lights, everything is LED.
11:15 Fit and finish is very nice.
11:17 You get a ton of features with this car.
11:19 So you should definitely go check out the Urban Cruiser Highrider that's from Toyota
