A grandfather is addicted to Lucozade despite having three heart attacks - and said it's harder to give up than class A drugs.
Garry Johnson, 65, began drinking coffee aged 12 and loved the caffeine buzz.
The now-retired painter and decorator took cocaine and amphetamines in his teens, and after 15 years of on-off drug use went 'cold turkey' when his son Sam was born in 1992.
Keen to stay energised, he took up drinking 380ml bottle bottles of Lucozade Original - and now necks eight a day.
He's had the habit for 29 YEARS and it currently costs him around £150 a month.

00:02 - Hi, my name's Gary.
00:08 This is a story about how I became the Lucas Aid man.
00:11 As a kid, I always needed a stimulant.
00:13 So up until about the age of 12, I would drink coffee.
00:17 Then as I become a teenager,
00:18 with all my friends, we used to take amphetamine.
00:22 And then as I got into my early twenties,
00:23 I moved on to cocaine.
00:25 And then when I was 30, my eldest son was born.
00:28 And after 15 years of taking fast drugs,
00:30 I just stopped overnight.
00:32 I wanted something else to give me a stimulant,
00:34 which was legal.
00:35 I then tried Red Bull, which was very nice to drink,
00:38 but you had a terrible headache and a migraine.
00:41 So I moved on from Red Bull onto Lucas Aid.
00:44 Back in the day, the National Health
00:48 used to give original Lucas Aid to patients
00:50 when they was ill to make them feel more full of energy
00:53 after an operation or when they were convalescing.
00:55 So I moved on to the original Lucas Aid.
00:59 And I've been having Lucas Aid every day since about 1994.
01:03 And it gradually went from five bottles to six bottles.
01:06 I'm now currently on eight bottles a day.
01:08 I love being full of energy all the time.
01:11 It makes me feel healthy.
01:13 And I don't feel tired when I'm drinking it.
01:16 First thing I'll do when I wake up in the morning,
01:18 before I clean my teeth or anything,
01:20 is have two or three sips of Lucas Aid.
01:22 And then I just drink during the day.
01:24 And if I haven't had one for an hour or an hour and a half,
01:26 whatever, that's when I'll start craving one.
01:27 So I'll have another one.
01:28 Unlike a lot of people my own age,
01:30 I haven't got a beer belly.
01:31 It's not made me fat.
01:32 And the other thing is, I don't get a hangover the next day.
01:35 Like those who drink so much beer,
01:37 I'll drink so much Lucas Aid, but there's no side effects,
01:39 no dodgy side effects, not that I've encountered.
01:42 I can honestly say that drinking eight bottles a day
01:44 not only makes me full of energy,
01:46 but I honestly believe it's given me the Alexia of youth.
01:48 And I'm going to have one now.
01:51 (beer sloshing)
01:54 Oh, lovely.
