Transcript
00:00 In the middle of the problem with the price of rice, the Department of Health has an advice to have a balanced diet
00:08 so that our wallet won't go on a diet.
00:11 Mark Fetalco will tell you what it is.
00:15 In front of the high price of rice in the country, the Department of Health is looking for an alternative solution.
00:24 We can have a rotation in our basic food requirements.
00:32 This has been proven for a long time.
00:36 According to the DOH, other foods rich in carbohydrates are considered as a substitute for rice.
00:43 For example, we have fellow countrymen who are used to eating other foods other than rice.
00:53 For example, we have sweet potatoes, corn, and other cheap foods.
01:01 The DOH's statement is in line with the rise in the price of rice that the government is now pushing.
01:08 But the agency says that the problem with the price should not be the cause of the decrease in the human body's needs when it comes to calories.
01:16 Health Undersecretary Tayag also reminded the public to maintain a balanced diet in eating rice and vegetables.
01:23 There are many ways that we can substitute rice.
01:30 We can eat not only rice, but also sweet potatoes, corn, and other vegetables.
01:39 Not only will we not get full, but we will also get enough nutrients.
01:47 This is one of the food security and malnutrition issues that the DOH is trying to address in the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition by the National Nutrition Council.
01:58 This will serve as the country's blueprint for the next six years to improve the nutrition of every Filipino.
02:05 The DOH is pleased with the Agriculture and Education Department's efforts in implementing a program that can also reduce the number of Filipinos who are experiencing hunger.
02:15 Under the leadership of the National Nutrition Council Governing Board, we plan to ensure that PIPAN will move both at the national and local levels,
02:26 guided by our unwavering objective of ensuring that every Filipino attains the highest attainable standard of health and well-being.
02:35 Mark Fetalco, for Sabayan.
