00:00 The Department of Justice decided that the economic sabotage may be caused if the price cap on rice is not met, or if the hoarding of its supply will be done.
00:14 We have first Luisa Erispe.
00:16 No one can break the law if anyone breaks the price cap on rice.
00:24 That's what the Department of Justice promised in accordance with the Executive Order issued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. up to the Rice Price Ceiling.
00:33 According to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulia,
00:36 it is possible that the economic sabotage may be caused if anyone will prove it illegal to raise the price of rice or to hoard its supply.
00:45 We have a law that prohibits such actions that should not be done to the people.
00:55 If they will force to do this, they will face the law.
01:01 The most serious one is economic sabotage and other crimes that are against commercial interests of the people.
01:10 As part of their investigation into where the price of rice is being raised in the market,
01:17 DOJ is now forming groups that will go to the markets to investigate the hoarding of rice.
01:24 We are now forming teams that will go to the markets to see what is happening in the markets.
01:34 This is what we are doing now, studying the different cases that can be filed against those who will not comply with the rules we want to implement regarding the price ceiling.
01:53 So we can know where these people are coming from, what their basis is, and why they are raising the price.
02:03 DOJ also assured that they are one of the study of Congress and other government agencies regarding hoarding, smuggling and raising the price of rice in the country.
02:13 Remulia also insisted that she believes that the correct price of rice per kilo should be only P41 in the market.
02:21 We are now one of the Congress in investigating.
02:24 In every Congress meeting, DOJ has a team that is in charge and helps the Congress.
02:32 Because it is not easy to find evidence, all government agencies are helping in this matter.
02:38 Louisa Erispe, for the people.
