00:02 Hi.

01:31 I was born in Offman Estates, Illinois,
01:35 aka Chicago.
01:37 I was raised in St. Louis, Missouri,
01:40 Southside, 3rd District.
01:42 The city I'm from, St. Louis,
01:44 is such a musical city.
01:47 It's such a cultural city.
01:49 It has so much history
01:51 in relation to being Black in America,
01:54 being a musician,
01:56 being fashionable, being trendy.
01:59 So many pioneers have come from my city,
02:01 and it's always inspired me to just be different
02:04 and true to myself.
02:07 So I started making music when I was 21.
02:12 I was dancing on the road as a backup dancer.
02:15 I was in Europe for like three months
02:17 for a European leg,
02:19 and I was with my friend, Who R U?
02:21 He's also another dancer on the tour.
02:24 I used to be a dancer.
02:27 I still am a dancer, but I used to be a professional dancer.
02:30 So we were dancing on tour,
02:32 and he was making music,
02:34 and I just started making music for fun,
02:37 but I actually grew up doing musical theater
02:41 and singing and being in choir
02:44 and rapping around my neighborhood
02:46 at the YMCA lock-ins
02:48 and in my rhyme book and battling people.
02:51 I never really made any music as a kid,
02:54 but I always had aspirations.
02:57 My favorite musical that I was in,
03:01 I'm gonna keep it real,
03:04 the most fun I ever had doing a musical
03:07 was probably High School Musical in 2008.
03:11 That shit was busting. I'm gonna keep it real.
03:13 I was 13.
03:15 Gotta have the incense, man.
03:24 I like the sandalwood incense, man.
03:26 It smells good.
03:28 Nice and woodsy.
03:31 You know, a guy like me, man,
03:34 I smoke weed, lift weights,
03:40 and eat all in the same room.
03:44 So sometimes that shit be needing a little energy refresh,
03:48 you feel me?
03:50 That shit be smelling a little sometimes,
03:53 not all the time.
03:54 Actually, not often at all,
03:56 'cause this one is a dude.
03:58 I get the vibes, right? You feel me?
04:01 I love lighting up the incense,
04:03 'cause it get the smells right.
04:07 It get the vibes right.
04:10 You got a nice young lady over there.
04:13 Light the incense up, bro.
04:16 You just took a shit and light the incense up.
04:18 Oh, God.
04:19 I definitely have several of these around the crib.
04:23 Another essential,
04:27 this lighter right here
04:30 with this geometric bird.
04:33 [lighter clicks]
04:35 I don't know if you can hear that,
04:41 but if I had to make a musical supergroup,
04:46 I would get Yeet,
04:49 Playboi Carti,
04:52 and Hilary Duff.
04:54 I would put them in a supergroup
04:56 because it would undoubtedly be something
04:59 we've never seen before.
05:02 If I could go back in time and watch any concert,
05:06 I would go see Pac,
05:08 'cause that shit is just--
05:12 it was too epic for too short of a time
05:15 for me to not go see that shit.
05:18 And I feel like his energy is still omnipresent.
05:22 You know what I mean?
05:24 And then a close second would be--
05:26 I would go back to 2019
05:29 and go see Tame Impala at Coachella
05:32 and take...
05:34 Redacted.
05:38 So it could enhance my experience
05:40 because I always wanted to do that,
05:42 and I'll never get that back.
05:44 So earlier this year,
05:46 DeKango and I dropped this album, "Forward."
05:49 It's my debut album.
05:52 It's titled "Forward,"
05:56 one for just constant evolution
05:59 as a human being, as a person.
06:01 Also trying to evolve our creativity and our sound.
06:04 Not that we reinventing the wheel or anything,
06:07 but we just trying to do something
06:09 that we haven't done before, you know what I'm saying?
06:11 It's also titled "Forward"
06:14 as in an homage to my story, Ward,
06:18 my family story, the Ward story,
06:20 and a dedication to what this all is for,
06:24 is for the families, for the future of my family.
06:27 It's also "Forward."
06:29 It's my fourth project.
06:30 I have two EPs and a tape,
06:32 and then it's also a forward in the story
06:35 because it's the debut album.
06:37 Executive produced by Leto.

07:12 Shout-out my bro, Kato, and Comanze.

07:31 load the boat up, and then set sail, you feel me?
07:36 Man, shout-out Tyler, the creator.
07:39 That shout-out was...
07:41 that was amazing, man.
07:43 Tyler is one of my biggest inspirations in music,
07:48 and as an entrepreneur, as a creative person,
07:52 as a black creative person,
07:54 he's the GOAT, he's an innovator.
07:56 He inspired me to, in my home,
07:58 used to do a lot of what we're doing right now.
08:01 So to know that he f*cks with it is fire.
08:05 Shout-out Tyler, man.
08:06 If I could only listen to one album,
08:09 I would listen to Stevie Wonder, "Innervisions."
08:12 I just feel like the pocket of musicality
08:16 is so deep that I still have more to appreciate from it
08:22 with more and more listens.
08:24 It's just so colorful and weird,
08:27 and he has so much to say.
