00:00 I wear it to pretty much any big event.
00:02 Kind of get the stun a little bit on everybody,
00:04 especially the guys that don't have them.
00:06 What's up GQ?
00:07 This is Patrick Mahomes and these are my essentials.
00:09 (upbeat music)
00:12 My snacks.
00:17 Oh, oh, yep, there it is.
00:20 I have to keep my body in shape.
00:22 So no one tell my trainer this or the chiefs,
00:25 but I'm a big snacker.
00:26 I like to eat a lot of chips, candy,
00:29 whatever it is, especially at nighttime,
00:30 which I know is the worst part of the day to eat snacks.
00:34 I always grab either a purple bag of Doritos,
00:36 which I just got on.
00:38 I used to be a Cool Ranch guy,
00:39 but now I'm on the purple bag.
00:41 Or I grab some gummies, like the Jolly Rancher gummies.
00:45 Green's my favorite flavor or Starburst.
00:48 I know there's a bunch of debate about this,
00:49 but the red flavor is definitely the best.
00:51 And I like the pink too, but red, come on.
00:54 Let's end the debate.
00:55 (upbeat music)
00:58 So the next essential is definitely sunglasses.
01:01 And you know me, you know I'm rocking the Oakleys.
01:03 Let me go and throw them on for y'all.
01:05 This style of Oakley, I've kind of felt like it's like mine.
01:09 I went to the headquarters of the Oakley studio
01:11 right when I signed with them.
01:12 And this is like the first one that I picked out.
01:14 And I hadn't seen anybody really rocking them.
01:16 They kind of have that snowboarder type swag,
01:18 but at the same time, I thought I can make it mine
01:20 and bring it to the football world, the athlete world.
01:23 Kind of covers up your face a little bit.
01:25 You can be incognito.
01:26 No one knows what you're thinking.
01:27 No one can see your eyes.
01:29 And then the new swag that they got going with these lenses
01:31 and the frames of them is something
01:33 that I think I'm gonna rock a lot this season.
01:35 (upbeat music)
01:38 Obviously it means a ton to me.
01:40 What I do for a living to be able to have this,
01:42 this is the pinnacle.
01:43 It's what you want whenever you step on a football field,
01:45 no matter if you're in Pee-wee football,
01:47 high school, whatever it is,
01:48 your dream is to win the Superbowl.
01:50 And that first one, that first one hits different.
01:52 I wear it to pretty much any big event.
01:55 Kind of get the stun a little bit on everybody,
01:57 especially the guys that don't have them.
01:59 But at the same time,
02:00 it's something that just means the most to you.
02:01 (upbeat music)
02:05 Another key essential that I always have on,
02:08 definitely gotta be the Mahomes ones.
02:10 To have your own signature shoe,
02:12 when you're growing up and you're watching,
02:13 you see Jordan, you see LeBron, his, James Harden.
02:16 Not a lot of NFL players have their own signature shoe.
02:18 A lot of them have cleats for Adidas
02:20 to give me the opportunity to have my own signature shoe.
02:22 They let me completely help design the whole shoe.
02:25 And for me, I want them to be a lifestyle shoe,
02:27 but at the same time, something that you can train in.
02:29 And obviously with me, I train all the time
02:31 and I want to be able to run and cut.
02:32 Like they're high top,
02:33 they're a little bit sturdier at the top here.
02:35 They got a firm bottom where you can really train in.
02:37 At the same time, you can throw them on with jeans.
02:40 You can walk around the house,
02:41 you could go out to eat with them.
02:42 And I definitely had to bring out kind of a one of a kind.
02:44 This is actually my wedding shoe that the Adidas made for me.
02:47 I mean, you can see they got the diamonds on them.
02:51 Really kind of stunned with the light blue,
02:53 which is my wedding color.
02:55 So I'm sorry, everybody.
02:56 These are one of ones and no one else can get them.
02:58 Yeah, the next essential that you always got to get,
03:01 always got to have, where did I even?
03:05 - Who?
03:08 - Oh, it's Brittany, my wife.
03:10 So my wife, Brittany, she's the best.
03:14 She's more than my wife though.
03:15 She's my best friend.
03:16 - That's so nice of you.
03:17 - No.
03:18 And so she's definitely essential that I have every day
03:21 and supports me every day.
03:22 - I mean, personally, I don't think you could get
03:23 out the house if it wasn't for me.
03:25 - Wish I had a kids here too, 'cause the whole fam,
03:27 you know, we're always together wherever we go.
03:29 - Yeah, and I feel like once you have kids,
03:31 you're just, they're the essential to your everyday life
03:33 and without them, it's just weird.
03:35 - Very weird.
03:36 A real important essential to me is definitely my bracelets.
03:44 And I think y'all see it.
03:45 And when I play every game, every commercial that I shoot,
03:47 I always have these bracelets on.
03:49 These bracelets were given to me by kids.
03:51 There's a couple of them that aren't here anymore,
03:52 but I just want them to know that their impact
03:54 is still made in my life every single day.
03:56 It's super important to me and I want them to know
03:58 and their families to know that they're out there with me
04:00 when I'm playing every single day
04:01 or when I'm doing whatever that is
04:03 or when I'm with my family.
04:04 And it truly makes me appreciate every day
04:06 that I got on this earth.
04:07 This is my newest one, it's called Battle with Aiden.
04:09 So when I met before this last season
04:11 to motivate myself every day to be great for him
04:13 and he's not with us anymore,
04:15 but we were able to win the Super Bowl this last season.
04:17 So I'm just so thankful for these kids
04:19 and have the impact they made in my life.
04:21 (upbeat music)
04:23 Another super important essential for me
04:27 is definitely my Whoop.
04:29 People see me with this band on.
04:30 A lot of times in games,
04:31 you see me with this little band on my arm.
04:33 It kind of pokes out,
04:33 especially when I wear the white undershirt.
04:36 That's my Whoop.
04:37 It tracks my sleep.
04:38 It tracks my physical activity throughout the day.
04:40 It tracks pretty much everything.
04:41 I look at this app every single day
04:43 and I just try to see how I can better myself.
04:46 And when you better your recovery and you're in the green,
04:50 you have better days and you get the most out of them.
04:52 And so I just want to make sure
04:53 that I track throughout the game days,
04:56 workout days, whatever it is, rest days,
04:58 and try to make sure that I can do whatever I can
05:00 to have my body in the best place possible
05:02 to not only play football,
05:03 but just overall general health.
05:05 The next essential, BioStill, hydration drink.
05:10 Someone who works out all the time like me,
05:12 you got to make sure you stay hydrated.
05:14 And they got so many great flavors, no sugar.
05:17 One of the healthiest drink that I've had
05:19 that still tastes great.
05:20 And I think even more important in keeping me hydrated
05:23 is definitely that my daughter loves BioStill.
05:26 And so we always have to have it on us
05:28 because if I don't want it,
05:30 she's going to want it at some point
05:31 and you always got to keep the daughter happy.
05:34 You know me, you know my hair,
05:37 and head and shoulders is what makes my hair what it is.
05:40 It helps keep my hair not only clean,
05:41 but this dangling little curls that I have.
05:45 And so it's something that I use every single day,
05:48 twice a day most times.
05:50 And it keeps my hair just what it is,
05:51 no other product, no other anything like that.
05:53 So if you're going for my haircut,
05:55 make sure you get a barber to do the sides
05:57 and head and shoulders on top,
05:58 and you're going to be looking just like Pat Mahomes.
06:00 The next essential, something you have every single day.
06:05 I think everybody has it, but it got to be the cell phone.
06:08 You know, on social media,
06:09 I throw a few jokes here and there.
06:11 I try to stay in tune to the fans and my friends and family
06:14 and everything like that.
06:15 Man, I see everything.
06:16 I think people notice that by how I play the game,
06:18 because I see everything and I try to use that as fuel
06:21 to go out there and be who I am.
06:22 And look at that daughter right there.
06:24 So you got to always remind what it's all about.
06:26 I appreciate y'all having me.
06:27 Hopefully you learned a little bit more about me
06:29 through my essentials.
06:30 See you on the field.
06:31 (upbeat music)
