00:00 Welcome back to New Rockstars, I'm Eric Vos,
00:01 and this is a breakdown of a new trailer
00:03 for "Loki" season two, coming October 6th,
00:05 with some intriguing editing and cryptic new shots,
00:08 like one that definitely shows Victor Timely
00:10 inside of the TVA.
00:12 Let's break down this promo frame by frame
00:14 for the details you missed,
00:15 and we have been re-watching "Loki" season one
00:17 with episode by episode re-breakdowns.
00:19 We found a surprising number of new details
00:22 that we somehow overlooked before,
00:23 so check out our episode one re-watch,
00:25 and we're gonna be doing the rest of them this month
00:26 on the main New Rockstars channel.
00:28 All right, here we go.
00:28 (eerie music)
00:30 - What I'm about to tell you
00:32 is gonna be hard to believe again.
00:34 (dramatic music)
00:39 I've been pulled through time
00:42 between the past and the present.
00:45 - All right, we begin with Loki in closeup
00:46 looking out at something really bright,
00:48 tears filling his eyes.
00:49 Now, this is the same light in the background
00:51 as the shots of Loki watching Mobius
00:53 making his way out toward the temporal core.
00:55 This was a new term that we got
00:57 from the official TVA prop posters,
00:59 and one detailing the radiation suit
01:01 that Mobius wears in this moment,
01:02 warning that it gives 15 minutes of exposure
01:04 to the temporal radiation from the temporal core.
01:07 So this glowing braid that Mobius trudges out toward,
01:10 also seen in the first trailer,
01:12 is the temporal core of the TVA,
01:14 meaning that we can now see the TVA
01:15 as a kind of power plant,
01:17 but rather than nuclear energy,
01:18 it generates temporal energy by pruning timelines,
01:21 converting all of the life force
01:23 from everything in that timeline into this time energy.
01:26 And Sylvie, rupturing the sacred timeline,
01:28 has overloaded the system.
01:29 What should have been one timeline
01:31 feeding through this generator
01:32 has now become something more of a chaotic sausage maker.
01:35 So they're sending Mobius out to patch it,
01:37 and based on Loki's expression,
01:38 he's worried, and I'm worried,
01:39 that Mobius might not survive this.
01:41 And by the way, this machinery that braids the time stream
01:43 looks like a large version of the segmented pieces
01:46 of Victor Timely's temporal marvel at the World's Fair,
01:49 that the reason they have to go back to him at 1893
01:51 is to look for the original TVA blueprints
01:54 of how this temporal core works,
01:55 and that what Victor Timely was explaining
01:58 to these Victorian Chicagoans
01:59 is that rather than trusting Mr. Edison or Mr. Tesla
02:02 with their electricity,
02:03 or someday in the future, Mr. Oppenheimer
02:05 with his nuclear energy,
02:06 there is a much cleaner and safer,
02:08 but actually not that much safer,
02:10 form of energy called temporal radiation.
02:12 Now, the music and sound editing throughout this promo
02:14 is just incredible.
02:15 Like, we hear these clicks,
02:16 like a dial being ratcheted into place,
02:19 and these female vocalizations
02:20 that kind of sound like they're laughing at us.
02:22 - It's gonna be hard to believe.
02:24 - And then a straight up scream on the Marvel logo.
02:27 Next, we see a few shots from the last trailer,
02:29 like Loki time slipping in the TVA Time Theater number five,
02:32 and then to the parking lot of this Piranha Powered Sports,
02:35 where you can see Mobius in the background selling jet skis,
02:37 explaining why our man is so obsessed with jet skis.
02:40 And we actually got some rumors
02:41 that this moment could be set in Cleveland, Ohio,
02:43 one year before the Battle of Earth,
02:44 so that would make this October, 2022.
02:46 And then Loki and Mobius in the Columbian Exposition
02:49 at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair,
02:50 where they will find Victor Timely
02:52 from that "Quantumania" post-credits scene,
02:54 and a giant Ms. Minutes.
02:55 Then we get the shot of the actor Brad Wolf
02:57 at the premiere of the movie "Zaniac,"
02:59 adapting the 1982 "Thor" number 319,
03:02 in which Zaniac is a swarm of demonic, parasitic creatures
03:05 from the Dark Dimension taking over an actor named Brad Wolf,
03:07 making him have a bloodlust for women.
03:09 But it seems like here,
03:10 they're making it an in-universe film.
03:12 We know from the McDonald's promos
03:13 that Brad Wolf will be someone they detain as a variant.
03:16 And in the first trailer,
03:17 there's a quick shot of him crammed into a time cube.
03:20 By the way, that shot at the McDonald's
03:21 will be set in Brooklyn of 1982,
03:24 and it's gonna be where Sylvie goes
03:25 right after stabbing he who remains.
03:27 The music apparently in this moment
03:28 is gonna be "Moon River,"
03:29 which, definitely check out the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's,"
03:31 but just understand that it has some complicated humor
03:34 when it comes to racist depiction of Mr. Yunioshi.
03:37 But the movie as a whole is pretty good,
03:38 and the song of "Moon River"
03:39 is the song of this woman who's on the run.
03:41 And it's the music that plays over the closing credits
03:43 where her lover runs back to her.
03:45 So it's kind of this nice, sweet reunion moment
03:47 of a woman who's always on the go, reinventing herself.
03:50 All right, let's move on to the next section.
03:51 (woman crying)
03:52 - In the future.
03:53 (dramatic music)
03:56 - Everything is turning to shit.
03:58 (woman screaming)
03:59 - That's right.
04:00 (dramatic music)
04:03 - Okay, Hunter B-15 tries to use her TemPad,
04:07 but Ms. Minutes appears on the screen
04:09 with an ah-ah-ah and an axis denied, the ah-ah-ah.
04:12 A little nod to Dennis Nedry in "Jurassic Park."
04:14 - Ah-ah-ah, you didn't say the magic word.
04:17 - Please, God damn it!
04:19 - Ms. Minutes was inspired
04:21 by a different part of "Jurassic Park," Mr. DNA,
04:23 along with Felix the Cat, Betty Boop,
04:25 and propaganda films like "A" is for Adam
04:26 and "Destination Earth."
04:27 I went into this in a video where I think I did figure out
04:30 what Ms. Minutes is exactly.
04:31 Remember, Ms. Minutes has access to the TVA archives
04:33 that even Renslayer did not have.
04:35 And I think it's because she is kind of an AI download
04:38 of "He Remains," "Mine," and "Memories,"
04:40 and other past TVA employees' souls
04:42 when their pruned timelines are converted
04:44 into temporal radiation.
04:45 She's kind of sentient temporal radiation.
04:47 As Mobius walks out in this radiation suit toward the core,
04:50 you can see parts of that suit
04:51 dissipating from the radiation.
04:52 But to Obi's credit, that duct tape
04:54 that he taped onto the helmet to cover the crack,
04:55 it's still intact.
04:56 You can always trust duct tape.
04:58 Now, longtime "New Rock" stars' viewers

06:00 one of the best they've ever given our audience.
06:02 So click the link in the description
06:04 or go to geologie.ie/rockstars100 to get started.
06:09 So Mobius takes Loki into the same golden elevator
06:12 that they rode in together in season one.
06:13 He hits the bottom right button of SK-7.
06:15 I explain in another video what time slipping is
06:18 and how it is different from glitching
06:19 in the animated "Spider-Verse" movies.
06:21 Basically, I think slipping is moving forward or backward
06:23 within a single timeline.
06:24 Glitching is where you hop laterally
06:26 across different universes.
06:28 Keewee Kwan plays OB, aka Ouroboros,
06:31 who's a TVA agent in charge of the technology.
06:33 Beside him is Eugene Cordero returning as Casey.
06:35 He still has that ink stain from the leaky pen
06:37 in his front shirt pocket.
06:39 Behind Mobius in this location
06:40 is a poster about pneumatic tube etiquette.
06:42 We actually have a clear visual of this
06:44 from the art that was released.
06:45 It lists forbidden usage and punishable usage,
06:48 and under punishable, it lists live or dead vermin
06:50 and flammable materials,
06:52 which means that both of these things
06:53 must have been done before for there to be a rule about it.
06:56 But the most interesting shot of this promo,
06:57 someone moves a figurine in a radiation suit
07:00 down a miniature of the Temporal Core walkway,
07:02 and at the far end of this set is Victor Timely.
07:05 This is the first time we've seen a Kang variant
07:07 in the halls of the TVA.
07:08 I think they feel okay doing this, bringing him here,
07:10 because 1893, Victor Timely is the one who built the TVA,
07:13 and this would be eons before he ages into, he remains.
07:17 I think they're the same person,
07:18 and it's just that Victor Timely would better know
07:20 the technical schematics of the TVA architecture the best.
07:23 For what it's worth, Architect was the season two
07:25 production title when they were shooting it in the UK.
07:27 This whole moment reminds me of Back to the Future
07:29 when Doc Brown creates a miniature model
07:31 of the Hill Valley Town Square
07:32 so that they can walk through their mission.
07:34 Kinda seems like they're doing that here.
07:35 So Renslayer here in this location
07:37 is going by her other name, Rebecca Tourbonnais, I assume.
07:40 This is in Victor Timely's lab,
07:41 and she's firing up what I assume
07:42 is an early model pruning stick.
07:44 On the wall behind her is a bunch of clocks,
07:46 which also reminds me of Doc Brown.
07:47 Remember, he had a ton of clocks all over his workshop.
07:49 Okay, on to the last section.
07:50 - Don't overthink it.
07:51 (dramatic music)
07:54 - Around, around, and around we go.
07:57 - All right, I can.
08:02 - Okay, so Moby, Sylvie, and Loki
08:05 are in this shipyard location.
08:07 This is actually the historic Chatham Dockyards in Kent,
08:10 established in the 16th century following the Reformation.
08:14 It has since built over 500 ships for the Royal Navy
08:17 until it was closed in 1984.
08:19 It was a location shown at various points
08:21 in Netflix's "The Crown."
08:22 And the interior of the shipyard just looks very, very cool.
08:25 So why are they here?
08:26 Well, the sign on the left of them reads
08:28 Deliu and Sonar, and then Batbidjari.
08:30 I pointed out before that Deliu is a nod to Dan Deliu,
08:33 Marvel's longtime VFX supervisor and second unit director,
08:35 who is directing an episode of this season of "Loki,"
08:38 but Vagland Batbidjari, I know,
08:40 I'm butchering the pronunciation of it,
08:42 but this is a shipyard in Norway.
08:44 So maybe their mission here is to disrupt
08:46 or to acquire one of those new Asgard boats
08:48 that was pulled by the goats, like the Ager vessel.
08:50 Over this, we hear Victor Timely's voice saying,
08:52 "Round and round and round we go."
08:54 And it syncs with this overhead shot rotating
08:57 on Sylvie watching her TV and listening to a vinyl record
08:59 as that TV splits into strands.
09:01 Now, Victor Timely's voice could be referring
09:03 to that 1893 Ferris wheel
09:05 that was the first Ferris wheel ever,
09:07 and it might be using it in the scene that he is in
09:08 as a metaphor for how they are on a sacred timeline loop
09:11 and how time itself is circular,
09:13 where it goes round and round
09:14 but never really changes location.
09:16 Then we see Victor Timely inspecting
09:17 some piece of technology.
09:19 I think this might be a keystone piece
09:20 of that Temporal Marvel display from the expo,
09:23 maybe his kind of flux capacitor
09:24 of his time manipulation technology.
09:26 And then a quick shot of Loki himself,
09:28 it looks like, walking out on that Temporal catwalk
09:30 with no radiation suit,
09:32 maybe headed out to save Mobius and to take his place
09:34 in whatever this mission is.
09:35 Now, since this whole trailer is kind of a circular loop,
09:38 it ends with the same, again, line as it begins with.
09:41 Like, remember how we opened?
09:43 - What I'm about to tell you
09:44 is gonna be hard to believe again.
09:47 - And now we end with this.
09:48 - All right, again.
09:51 - Time being a flat circle makes us wonder
09:52 if free will exists,
09:54 or if we are just destined to look back
09:56 on the preset course of history
09:57 every time we try to change it.
09:59 That is going to be the central existential dilemma
10:01 that Loki faces as he is continuing to grapple
10:04 with the revelation that Kang
10:05 has scripted their entire lives.
