00:00 >> What were you doing when you were away, were you free to go work out?
00:03 >> Same schedule, except for I just worked out at a different time.
00:07 I got the tools when I wanted to.
00:09 Some days I worked out in the morning, some days I worked out at night.
00:13 Same type of schedule, man.
00:14 Like I was telling them the other day, I was like, man,
00:16 when you stop doing something for two weeks and
00:18 when you've been accustomed to doing it every day for eight months,
00:21 it's weird to just sit around.
00:24 So your body just don't let you do it.
00:26 So yeah, it was an interesting off season, but it was cool.
00:31 >> As you're getting closer to the game,
00:32 do you feel you're ready to do your normal workload?
00:34 >> Yeah, I mean, if anything, I feel fresher than most people in this locker.
00:38 [LAUGH] >> Where is the [INAUDIBLE]
00:42 >> Yeah, I thought there was a lot of
00:46 respect and the guy voted the captain with only three or
00:50 four days being back in the building.
00:52 So I mean, I didn't know how that was gonna go.
00:55 However it went, I was just gonna roll with the punches.
00:57 But just to see the respect that I got from the guys is definitely a huge
01:02 achievement to me.
01:03 >> It's your third year in a row being a captain.
01:04 How big is that for you personally?
01:06 >> Man, honestly, man, I don't think it really affects nothing differently.
01:09 I think the only thing really for me that it affects is being able to speak up for
01:13 the team in certain situations.
01:16 But really, man, I mean, I just go about business as business is doing.
01:20 >> Have you read the stats about your week one success,
01:23 about how you've done against the Broncos?
01:25 >> Nah, I've seen a little bit of it, but at the end of the day, man,
01:29 they got a new head coach, they got a new philosophy up there, they got a new VC.
01:32 You don't know what they're coming with.
01:34 So for me, man, I'm just gonna go out there and just try to play my game.
01:37 >> What is it like knowing that you are going against a team coach by Sean Peake?
01:41 >> I mean, it's dope.
01:41 I got the opportunity to spend some time with him in the off season,
01:44 just talk to him and see how he thinks and things like that.
01:48 And I got a lot of respect for him, but it's gonna be fun to go against him.
01:52 >> Was that at the Super Bowl?
01:54 >> Yeah, that was at the Super Bowl, kinda like, yeah, that whole week.
01:58 That whole week of meeting these boys.
01:59 >> Obviously, in the last year,
02:00 it's been your first time in the league, when you come back into this year,
02:03 how do you try to set the bar for yourself?
02:06 >> Man, I don't never set, I don't never, I know it's kinda weird saying, but
02:10 I don't never set goals.
02:11 I'm not one of them people that be like, okay,
02:13 I want 1,000 yards at the end of the season.
02:15 I kinda just be like, okay, each day I come in, I wanna work on this.
02:19 And I feel like if you put the work in and
02:20 you work on the things that you need to improve on each day,
02:23 that when Sunday come, everything is gonna take care of itself.
02:25 >> Josh, what do you feel like is a realistic limit for
02:28 the number of carries you can have in week one?
02:30 >> I feel fresh, so to say.
02:32 Hopefully, I get a lot, but I don't know really what they thinking of,
02:37 how much they wanna use me and how much smart to do coming in with me,
02:42 not being here, so I don't know.
02:44 >> I know you built up the bar individually, like you said, but
02:47 what about team-wise?
02:48 Is there a bar you're hoping to get to there?
02:49 >> Yeah, man, I mean, I spoke to a lot of the guys about that in the locker room.
02:54 Just about, man, since I've been here, I've only had one winning season.
02:58 So really, all the individual accolades don't really mean nothing if you don't
03:01 win.
03:02 So for me, that's my main focus this year, is to win.
03:06 With everything being here and all of them things,
03:08 I wanna be in them conversations towards the end of the season.
03:13 >> Devontae said the mood is just better.
03:14 >> [LAUGH] >> I guess,
03:16 is that something you consciously try to uplift people, or is that just who you are?
03:19 >> I mean, I make sure I go out of my way to speak to every guy in this building.
03:22 I mean, from people working here, that's just how I was raised.
03:27 But not only that, I feel like when I'm in the game,
03:30 I can make a lot of people's job a lot easier, so they like that.
03:35 >> [LAUGH] >> How important is a fast start?
03:40 >> A fast start in general is just huge, especially at the beginning of the year,
03:44 where we don't really know what they're gonna come out and do.
03:46 They don't really know what we're gonna come out and do.
03:48 It's really just gonna be about fundamentals, and
03:50 we're gonna see who's got the better fundamentals throughout camp.
03:54 Hopefully it goes our way.
03:56 >> I know you said you feel pressure from a lot of guys in here, but
03:58 how fine is that line, Josh,
03:59 between being in good physical shape and good football shape?
04:02 You haven't taken a lot of hits yet, right?
04:04 >> Yeah, I mean, for me, less hits is better.
04:07 >> [LAUGH] >> You know what I'm saying?
04:09 I can hit enough, you know what I'm saying?
04:10 But I mean, man, I came back at the same weight I played at last year, and
04:14 I look bigger, I added muscle.
04:16 So I think I'm in a good position.
04:18 >> You increased your receiving yards each season.
04:21 What do you think has been letting you improve in the past year?
04:24 >> Yeah, man, my goal this year, I was telling them, I said, man,
04:27 I've had 50 catches, 60 catches, whatever, a year, and
04:30 I still don't have a receiving touchdown.
04:31 So that's the one thing that I will say is on my list.
04:34 >> [LAUGH] >> And what feels better, man,
04:36 making someone miss an open field or running someone over?
04:39 >> I like them all the same.
04:41 I like them all the same.
04:41 To me, just winning your one-on-one matchups is always huge.
04:46 I mean, for me, that's when it comes down to whether it's guys in the hole or
04:50 open field, I wanna have the bragging rights of saying I won more times than I lost.
