00:00 Hi there, my name's Billy Elliot and I'm an animal rescue officer for WADARS.
00:05 Now WADARS are a local animal charity based in the Worthing area
00:09 and I'd like to think we're slightly different to other animal charities
00:13 in as much as we deal with all animals.
00:17 What I mean by that is that we take in unwanted cats and dogs,
00:22 rabbits, guinea pigs and small furries that people are no longer able to keep
00:27 or care for, but we also run an ambulance service where we will travel out and
00:32 collect sick or injured wild animals and birds and take them to a place of safety as well.
00:39 We've been established in 1969 and our ambition has always been to have our own
00:45 rehoming centre and wildlife rehabilitation centre and we are now closer to achieving our dream
00:53 than ever, but obviously this incurs extra costs as the development of the site is taking place.
01:01 Being an animal charity, unfortunately we don't qualify for grants from the government or a national lottery,
01:09 so all of our funding is by way of donations and legacies, generosity of the public.
01:16 We have our own website at www.wadars.co.uk and you can click on a link to donate,
01:25 which will give you all the instructions on how to do it, but we'd also like you to know that
01:31 if there's anything we can ever do to help an animal that's in distress or an injured animal
01:37 that needs to take into a place of safety, then we're always contactable on 01903 247 111.
01:45 Thank you.
