00:00So we're appealing for funds at the moment because we're finding in the current financial climate that it's not as easy to come by funding as it used to be.
00:12We're finding all our costs across the board are increasing, be that the cost of running our vehicles, the veterinary supplies, wages, food, disposable gloves, everything basically is increasing across the board.
00:28And that's really causing us a lot of problems because people are struggling to afford to make donations to us as well.
00:35Some of the casualties we've got in care at the moment, we've got a badger road casualty from Bexhill at the moment.
00:41This one we've just been, the vet's just been having a look at, we've had to do some x-rays.
00:46Looks like there's some soft tissue injuries, possibly no structural damage luckily.
00:50So we'll obviously be providing veterinary medication to that badger, watching it very carefully as it comes out of the concussion and make sure that it recovers properly and that we can return it back to where it came from.
01:05We've got quite a few different tourney owls in the moment, some of those have been road casualties as well.
01:10We've got plenty of hedgehogs and we're never without hedgehogs here.
01:15We've got dozens of them in care at the moment.
01:17Some of them are found out during the daytime which is never a good thing.
01:21Quite often they have parasite burdens or they might be sick or they might be injured and they all need admitting.
01:27And obviously at this time of year we've got lots of baby birds coming into care and they might be disturbed nests or they might be cat attacks or anything like that where the parents might have been killed.
01:38And we end up with the youngsters coming in for care.
01:41And of course our amazing orphan rearing team have got the job of feeding all those little gaping birds throughout the day.
01:48And the really small baby ones, they need feeding every 15 minutes throughout the day.
01:53So how the guys, the volunteers and the orphan team cope I don't know, there are an amazing bunch.
01:59But everybody here works exceptionally hard and put in a lot of hard work and dedication for our animals.
02:06The animals of East Sussex, we all know that getting out in the countryside is fantastic for our mental health.
02:13Our countryside without our wildlife would be a horrible place.
02:17Our wildlife is part of our heritage, it's part of our community and we really need your help to help us support them at their time of need.
