00:00 So today we got a chance to test ride the all new TVS Apache RTR 310, not only on the
00:09 roads but on track at the Thailand circuit and we got to push the bike to its limit,
00:15 seeing its capabilities, how it performs under braking, under cornering, on acceleration.
00:20 So let's take a look at what the TVS has to offer and how it performs.
00:24 Welcome to Drivespark, my name is Vedant Johari and this is the TVS Apache RTR 310.
00:29 So now, starting off with the front end of the motorcycle, what we see is a split headlamp
00:38 design with the nose coming down the centre, holding the RTR 310 badging which has a very
00:44 sporty finish, has a very race design finish and on the headlamps, we have two sleek DRLs
00:51 on either side, amplifying the whole aggressiveness of the front end of the motorcycle.
00:56 The RTR 310 comes with gold plated upside down forks which can be adjusted based on
01:00 your preference for either a more stiffer ride, for example, if you're riding on track
01:05 or a more smoother ride, for example, if you're riding in the city.
01:09 So that's a great feature that we have on this.
01:12 At the rear of the motorcycle, we get a single rear boner shock and as you can see, it is,
01:18 you do feel the bounce of the motorcycle so if I'm sitting like, it is really spongy on
01:23 the soft setting but the moment you adjust it for a little tighter suspension, you really
01:29 feel the difference, it's not just a tighter suspension, you get much better performance.
01:35 Moving throughout the bike, we have a very sharp cut tank with these two sort of fins
01:40 coming in front, adding to the aerodynamics, making it better, more stable in top speeds
01:46 and all of that.
01:47 The tank has a really good placement for your legs, so for example, when you're cornering
01:52 hard, the tank is perfectly placed where you need it to be for you to pull the bike into
01:56 corners.
01:57 In the sporty aspects, the bike is beautiful and when you're riding it in the city, it
02:02 has a slightly more relaxed position, it's not very aggressive, it's not very sporty,
02:07 so that really plays a huge role, the fact that it can be set up for the city or set
02:11 up for the track, all in the same seating position, that's just wonderful.
02:17 The RTR 310 comes with a lightweight trellis frame which has the badging Hyper Spec on
02:22 it, now the chassis that we see in all three colours is a wide chassis, again, it's just
02:27 a design feature but it amplifies the whole sportiness again a whole lot.
02:31 When we come to the rear end of the motorcycle, we have a split style seat and at the back
02:36 we have two grab rails with rear taillights which are split again and the grab rails with
02:41 the taillight again really adds to the whole aggressiveness of the bike, of the whole persona
02:47 of the motorcycle.
02:48 Being a city bike and a sports bike is just wonderful.
02:52 Now the RTR 310 is designed to not only be a street bike or a sports bike, it's also
02:57 designed to be a stunt bike.
02:58 As TVS says, it's a freestyler, it's made to bring out the wild in you, it's made to
03:04 bring out the fun in you as this bike is super capable, you can do anything with it, you
03:09 can pull wheelies, you can pull stoppies if you're a stunter and or if you're just a city
03:16 goer, you can casually ride on the bike on whichever gear, it's really really comfortable.
03:21 Now coming to the features of the motorcycle, this bike, the standout feature seen first
03:26 in the industry is the climate control seats.
03:29 These seats have two electronic pieces in them which sort of pull energy from the battery
03:33 just to cool the seat or heat the seat depending on the outside temperature.
03:38 For example on a really hot day like this, we'd like it to be a little cool otherwise
03:41 we can feel the burning sensation come up through our legs and all so to make it cool
03:45 all we need to do is get into the menu of the digital display, head to the climate control
03:50 seats and reduce the temperature and within 10-15 seconds we can actually feel a noticeable
03:56 difference on the seat.
03:58 However, once you feel the difference you don't really feel the coolness staying throughout
04:02 as you get used to it and vice versa.
04:05 For example if you heat up the seats also, you feel the heat just while it's heating
04:10 up but once it reaches its optimum temperature, you don't really feel it much.
04:15 Now what temperature do these seats go to?
04:18 Depending on the outside temperature, well it's 12 degrees up or down so you can have
04:21 it 12 degrees cooler or 12 degrees warmer.
04:24 It may not sound much but those 12 degrees really make a difference.
04:27 On top of that, the motorcycle gets traction control, it gets wheelie control, it gets
04:32 stoppie control, you don't really see that on any 300-400 category motorcycle.
04:37 Maybe in a few but not all of them.
04:39 Seeing this feature come up in the motorcycles of this category, it's really good as it just
04:44 shows progress in terms of the Indian motorcycle market and what it demands.
04:49 Also the RTR 310 gets a quick shifter and the quick shifter is honestly super surprising.
04:55 It's smooth, it's responsive, there's no lag but it might be a little too sensitive as
05:02 when you're riding, even the slightest of pressure on the gear lever will cause it to
05:08 downshift or upshift but then again you really use a quick shifter on a regular basis.
05:13 You mainly use the quick shifter when you're on track or when you're pushing the bike around
05:18 the twisty sections of karts and all of that so in situations like that, it really comes
05:23 into use and the quick shifter, also the moment you use it, does bring the revs up.
05:28 For example, if you're downshifting, it does bring the revs up so in a way it does act
05:31 like a slipper as well.
05:33 That's really good for a sports-oriented bike.
05:36 Also the TVS gets the TVS Smart Connect as that's the feature we're seeing in all of
05:42 the TVS two-wheelers including the scooter segments.
05:44 Adds a whole lot of convenience honestly to the motorcycle.
05:47 Also in terms of connectivity, we also get GoPro connectivity on this.
05:50 Also now coming to the handlebars, our brake levers, not just the brake levers, the brake
05:54 and the clutch levers, we have an adjustable lever so depending on rider's preference
05:59 again you can adjust it and you will either have a stronger bite or a softer bite.
06:04 On track we needed a stronger bite so we've adjusted it as such.
06:07 Even for the clutch, we can adjust it for it to have more play or less play.
06:11 Right now, this motorcycle was not used on track so the brakes have a little more play
06:16 and so does the clutch but if you adjust it for the ideal settings, it does really help
06:22 depending on the situation you find yourself in.
06:25 So now coming to the performance aspect of the motorcycle.
06:28 This comes with a 312cc engine, a liquid-cooled engine that can produce around 35 horsepower
06:34 and 28.6Nm of torque.
06:36 You can really feel the power kick in.
06:37 However, you don't really get the complete potential of the engine as the gear ratios
06:43 are really short.
06:44 From 1st to 6th, you're at, from a standstill to 6th gear, you've reached 6th gear like
06:49 this in no time.
06:51 It revs really quick and when you're cruising on 6th gear, you do feel like you want a 7th
06:57 gear as the moment you climb up the revs, it gets really, really responsive on the throttle
07:02 and if you just want to gradually increase or gradually slow down, it is a little difficult,
07:07 it does take some getting used to but eventually, it is possible.
07:10 So in terms of gear ratios, they could have increased the gear ratios a little bit, at
07:15 least the higher gears as it would have really added to the whole comfort and ride feel of
07:21 this motorcycle.
07:22 So TVS has done a really good job in terms of setting up this bike for the sportier people
07:28 or the thrill seekers and this bike is really for those who like to have fun, for the one
07:33 who just like to rip it on a motorcycle.
07:36 So the RTR 310 gets 5 riding modes, Urban, Rain, Sport, Track and Supermoto.
07:45 Supermoto is for the ones who like to go wild or like to slide the bike around and all of
07:48 that.
07:49 Urban is for the ones who like to take it easy on the road, not really push the bike
07:53 to a certain extent, just calmly follow the flow of traffic.
07:57 In Rain, it's for, I mean, wet conditions, your traction control is enhanced, your ABS
08:03 is enhanced, your cornering traction is enhanced, your cornering ABS is enhanced and you get
08:08 all those features as a standard on this motorcycle.
08:10 Then when you come to Sport, the response is improved, the throttle response, the power
08:15 delivery, ergonomics of the bike, at least for me, I felt a huge difference in the ergonomics
08:20 of the motorcycle.
08:21 Now once you come into Track mode, that's when your quick shifter is enabled, that's
08:24 when your bike is really pushing itself to its potential and all of that.
08:29 The controls on your motorcycle are all placed really conveniently just at your finger's
08:35 reach, making the bike just so much easier to use, no stress, especially when you're
08:40 on the road, you don't need to get your head off the road to look at the controls, it's
08:44 all right there.
08:45 And then on top of that, right where your finger is, you have a sort of on/off switch
08:51 which controls your cruise control, yes, this bike gets cruise control and not just regular
08:56 cruise control, it also gets cornering cruise control.
08:59 Now what's cornering cruise control?
09:00 Let's say you're taking a corner at, let's say you're riding for a long ride, averaging
09:05 100, doing 100 on cruise control and you have a corner coming up, well you just need to
09:10 shut off the throttle, lean into the corner and your bike with all the electronics, with
09:14 all the sensors it has, will do its thing, read your lean angle, read how much you're
09:19 getting into the corner and automatically adjust the speed and the moment you start
09:23 straightening up the bike, the bike will automatically come back up to the speed you set the cruise
09:26 control at.
09:27 Never seen that before on a motorcycle, it's a great feature to include especially for
09:32 the ease and the practicality of an everyday rider.
09:35 So all in all this was the TVS Apache 310, it comes in three colours, the Fury Yellow
09:41 which is this, the Arsenal Black which is this and you also get a Sepang Blue edition
09:46 which resembles the TVS factory racing colours, blue, white and red.
09:51 Now these bikes come at a starting price of Rs 2.43 lakhs, that's just an introductory
09:58 price and for the price range, it's a really great bike.
