Milanese artist Fausta Squatriti (*1941) has been an important figure of the Italian avant-garde since the 1960s. The exhibition at the Kunsthaus Centre d'art Pasquart in Biel/Bienne (Switzerland) traces over six decades of her work, from the series of paintings La Passeggiata di Buster Keaton (1964-1966), reminiscent of Pop Art and Rococo, to the recent eccentric assemblages of materials such as wood, beads, fabric and resin of Corpi celeste vagante (2022-2023). While the abstract paintings of the 1980s combine strictly geometric lines with ornamentation, the colorful sculptures of the sculture colorate series (1964-1974) oscillate between Pop and Minimalism. Fausta Squatriti's artistic practice testifies to a great richness of form and - in several series - a certain tendency towards cosmic reveries.

The exhibition also features her first abstract works on paper: soft, colorful drawings created in the late 1950s, a time when non-objective art was very prominent in Western Europe. Squatriti was close to artists such as Max Ernst, Man Ray, Lucio Fontana, Niki de Saint-Phalle and Enrico Baj. With some of them she published artists' books and multiples, a selection of which can be seen in the exhibition. The show has been curated by Marjolaine Lévy and runs until November 19, 2023.
