Nicolas Krupp Gallery in Basel (Switzerland) is moving to a new exhibition space. The new gallery at Riehentorstrasse 33 in Basel is still under construction, but on the occasion of the Kunsttage Basel event, gallerist Nicolas Krupp invited the artist Eric Hattan to play with new exhibition space and the trash that accumulates during the construction work. A picture wall in the Petersburg hanging style complements the exhibition.

Eric Hattan, born in 1955 in Wettingen, Switzerland, is a Swiss visual artist known for his work as a conceptual artist, video artist, performance artist, and installation artist. He lives and works in Basel and Paris. Hattan's art focuses on everyday life, capturing the ordinary and often overlooked aspects of urban and public spaces through video and other media. His work involves a playful and ironic examination of the "infra-ordinary," where he subtly manipulates and reintroduces elements of daily life to invite viewers to see them anew.

Hattan's work often involves video installations where he records processes and incidents in urban environments. His art does not aim to deliver critical analysis but to reveal the poetic, absurd, or unnoticed aspects of everyday life. Eric Hattan's work has been exhibited internationally, including solo and group shows in places like the Swiss Institute in New York, Kunsthaus Baselland, and various art institutions across Europe. Recent exhibitions include a show at Nicolas Krupp in 2024. He received the Basler Kunstpreis in 2016, indicating recognition within the art community for his contributions. In 2023, he was an artist-in-residence at Foundation CAB in Brussels, which was his first significant presentation in Belgium. This residency was seen as both an introduction and a counterpoint to an exhibition of André Cadere's work. Hattan's approach includes taking possession of spaces in a way that invites viewers to rediscover them, focusing on movement and its implications for both body and mind.
